SUNDAY 17th/
MONDAY 18th/ MARCH 2013.
The day
started grey and overcast and a bit cool but the rain just about stayed away;
no roast today, it was an easy day for the chef and his commis had only a
little preparation to do. The dog came crashing in and played with her tennis
ball, she is getting better and now drops it in front of us – she goes mad
about the house and skids and crashes into the furniture as she chases it!
We had a
nice light ‘Brunch’ – Smoked Salmon and Scrambled Eggs, I just whip the Eggs
and season with salt and pepper then toss the mixture into a very hot pan with
a knob of butter – stir rigorously and take the pan off the heat sooner than
later to let the cooking finish – perfect Scrambled Eggs – even if I do say so
myself! In the afternoon we watched a
very good spy.FBI drama called “The Recruit”from 2003, the title part was taken
by Colin Farrell and Al Pacino and Bridget Moynahan added to the excellent cast
– you must concentrate all the time as there are lots of twists right up to the
very end!
In the
evening for supper we had flattened Turkey Breast cooked on the griddle and
served with Savory Basmati Rice and a creamy Mushroom sauce on the side, Brenda
had also prepared Garden Peas with Baby Carrots to go with the meal; we then
channel hopped and caught the news and weather. In the afternoon I had watched
the highlights of the Australian Grand Prix; Kimi Raikkonen won ahead of
Fernando Alonso in a tense strategic battle and later Barcelona won 3-1 to
maintain their 13 point lead in the ‘Liga’ over Real Madrid.
This
morning, Monday it is a glorious sunny day in Manilva; it eventually reached 22degs as you can see in the
pictures above of the ‘Manilva Green Aparthotel’ We walked down with the dog
and arranged with Carlos to view a few rooms and choose a two bed- roomed and
two bathroom duplex all on one level with lounge and kitchen and a large
balcony with a view. Jack and Lyn will stay there and also Annette when she
arrives, the apartment actually sleeps six with double sofa bed! On the way
back we stopped at ‘Bodega Augustin’ for a coffee and Mano came along and
joined us for a chat. It looks like we could be up on the roof terrace later
reading and then tonight we are having ‘Minute Steak’ griddled and served with
Sauté Onions and finely sliced Green Beans along with dry Sautéed sliced Baked
Potato. The late film was " Spartan" from 2004 - and no it was a political thriller starring Val Kilmer, who can't act,in a story with lots of twists right up to the end.
PS; No call from the Moffatt's over in sunny Torremolinos to go over for lunch,we are starting to think that they are not here?! We were really looking forward to seeing them as it's been a couple of years at least since they were last over here - hear's to the next time - hopefully!
