MANILVA START OF THE WEEK.

MONDAY/TUESDAY/WEDNESDAY 8th/9th/10th  OCTOBER 2012.

Well the weather is peaking on Tuesday then going a little cooler but it is going to be nice over the weekend; as we awoke on Monday morning there was a thick sea mist in the village which cleared later as the sun broke through. We went for a long walk with the dog around the village and called in at the surgery to arrange for our flu jabs; on the way back we called into the butchers and picked up some Chicken Fillets/Escalopes for supper and Pork Cutlets for Tuesday, I also spotted some Chicken Wings which we use as a Tapas. In the afternoon Brenda retired up to the roof terrace, she is half way through ‘ 50 Shades of Grey ’ already and I caught up with WWW. In the evening we had the Chicken Escalopes pan-fried in Lemon Butter with Baby New Potatoes and Garden Peas. The late film was “ The Score ” from 2001 which we had not seen before; it turned out to be Marlon Brando’s last film as he played the part in typical ‘ Brando ’style along side Robert De Niro, Edward Norton and Angela Nesbitt.Directed by Frank Oz it is a crime thriller about a master safe- crackers last job ( De Niro ) Watch out for the twist right at the end !

On Tuesday we had one of our at home days; the sun was out and it reached 30 degs as forecast, in fact in Ronda it got to 34 degs – a record for this time of the year ! Ana called in at lunchtime for a chat and gossip and dropped off a stack of English papers from the villa were Mano works; in the evening after our dinner of Pork Cutlets with Lyonnaise Potaoes,Cabbage with Alselgas and fried local Green Peppers. After dinner we contacted Tim and Thea on the Skype Video for a chat as Tim had called us earlier to say that he was on line. We then watched the news and settled down to watch the film “ The Bank Job ” from 2008.It is based on the actual bank robbery in 1971 when the safety deposit boxes in the Baker Street branch where opened and the money and valuables were never recovered, to this day ! About £ 4 million worth of materials and money were stolen – at least 100 hundred box-owners neither claimed insurance nor identify the items in the boxes ! The producers allege that the story was prevented from getting out by a ‘ D Notice ’ to protect a prominent member of the Royal Family !! Jason Statham is the bank robber, along with a great British cast – there are two murders that remain unsolved to this day,goverment officials resigned, corrupt police officers went to jail and the ‘Infamous Malcolm X ’ was later hanged for the murder of a female MI5 spy who was involved in the plot/story ! All true with a little fiction added in at the end.

Today, Wednesday we have pottered about the house and picked the dog up early from Isobel’s as she was going to the hospital for an injection, Brenda then washed and shampooed her under the shower. ( The dog – not Isobel ! )  I have made a Chicken, Mushroom and Tarragon Pie for tonight’s dinner which I will pop in the oven to finish, we are having Baby New Potatoes and Garden Peas with it.

Thought for the Day;

Friendship isn’t a big thing – it’s a million little things.
