MANILVA AND MARRAKECH MOROCCO THIS WEEK

WEDNESDAY/THURSDAY/FRIDAY 24th/25th/26th OCTOBER 2012.

Wednesday morning was overcast as forecast with the severe rain storms to come over night; the cold weather front is coming in from the Atlantic and the tail is hitting us over Thursday and Friday and at the same time it is going to be a lot cooler, by our standards, down to 19 degs! So it was an at home day for us, Brenda had an appointment at the surgery to check her blood pressure, at lunchtime, with the nurse and it was up a little so our doctor came and checked things and adjusted her tablets and arranged another check up next Wednesday. In the afternoon we both finished our books so I’ am now into ‘50 Shades Darker ’and Brenda has started on the latest ‘Patterson’ In the evening after supper we watched the football, Real Madrid lost to Borussia Dortmund 2-1but the result of the night was Malaga beating A.C.Milan 1-0 in their Champions League game while sadly Manchester City played terrible against Ajax and lost 3-1 and have no chance of qualifying for the knockout stages!

Overnight the rain storms hit us and as usual when it rains in Spain, it rains ! It is the first real rain in the last year so we can’t complain, already there are reports and pictures on Facebook showing the road that has been washed away next to the Duquesa Hotel, posted by the council! ( See the picture above ) It meant that we did not go out to the presentation down on the front in Sabinillas,sadly, we were ready and had got our ‘ Mack’s ’out but just at the time we were going to set off it went even heavier – so we have read all the details of the presentation ( See Above ) on Facebook and are going to make more enquires about the coach trip to San Lucar de Barrameda in November, it is the town where Mano was born and brought up as a child, we have been there for a quick visit with Mano a few years ago so it would give us a chance to explore more of the town and the ‘ Bodega’s ’! During the day the dog came crashing in through the shutters when the rain had gone off for a short while and stayed for a couple of hours playing around in the house. For supper on Thursday we had a very simple meal with just three ingredients, Pan-Fried Minute Steak, very rare, sliced fine Green Beans and a Baked Potato – all perfect ! Over in England and around Europe it was ‘Europa League ’ football – Liverpool won 1-0 when they beat the Russian side Anxhi Makkachkala ! Later we watched “ Speed ” from 1994 with Keanu Reeves, Sandra Bullock and Dennis Hopper as the baddie.

This morning, Friday, we where going to go down for our shopping as usual but as we woke up the rain storm was still hitting us ,as forecast, so we turned over and decided to go tomorrow when the forecast is no rain !The dog is stuck here again as she shot up in-between the last downpour. So it is another at home day pottering about the house catching up with chores; on Facebook our friend Izzy who is on holiday in Marrakech with her mum has just posted some pictures of their visit to the ‘Souks’and the ‘ Medina ’ which I have put on above just to bring a little colour into our lives ! Tonight we are having another fish platter extravaganza – we have just raided the deep freeze and found some Gambas,Langustines,Crab and a seafood cocktail of Octopus and Squid along with some homemade Potato Croquettes !Over the last two evenings we have watched " Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade ! - it is the one with Sean Connery as his father! " Desparado " from 1995 with Antonio Banderas ,Salma Hayek and Quentin Tarantino - lots of shooting! Finally late last night a strange film called " Hard Eight,Sidney" from 1996 starring Philip Baker Hall,Samuel L.Jackson and a young Gwneth Paltrow- rather slow going.

PS; One week today Jane is arriving for the weekend ! We can't wait !!

Thoughts for the Day;

You have to have a dream so you can get up in the morning, if you dream it, you can do it.
