MANILVA OVER THE WEEKEND.

SATURDAY/SUNDAY 13th/ 14th OCTOBER 2012.

Over the weekend the weather has been warm and sunny but it is a little cooler,23 degs. and during the night we now have on the lighter duvet or just a sheet; Saturday was fine and in the morning after we had come back from the shopping Brenda went and collected Cheta,she carries her up the street from Isobel’s house as the local dogs are still hanging around the front door and ours ! She then has the run of our house to play and hang over the balconies looking down on the street which is one of her favorite things; no major football this weekend as it is was the World Cup Qualifying matches on Friday and then next Tuesday, back to normal next weekend. When we where down in Sabinillas we called into the English bookshop, which over the least few weeks has been refurbished and enlarged, the owner now says that it is like W.H. Smiths ! I bought the second book in the trilogy ‘ 50 Shades Darker ’ which we will read after we finish our current books. In the early evening we caught a film, ‘ Suspect ’from 1987 which is a murder mystery in New York with a surprise twist right at he end – it stars Cher,Liam Neeson,Dennis Quaid,Joe Mantegna and John Mahoney ( Frasier’s father ) Later for supper we had Steak a la Plancha with chips before we watched the late film ‘ Mercury Rising ’ from 1998 with Bruce Willis and Alex Baldwin as the baddy – Willis is an undercover FBI agent who ends up guarding  a young boy with Autism who has by accident broken into a highly confidential file – murder and mayhem follows !

On Sunday morning after our tea and toast I started to watch and catch up with the Grand Prix from Korea and the Motor GP from Japan; we at the same time got the Sunday Roast on the go, Loin of Pork for the first time in a while with Tarragon, Sage and Onion Stuffing, finger licking gravy and Carrot and BabyTurnip Batons, Cabbage with Alselgas,Garden Peas, Baby New Potatoes and crisp Goose fat Roast Potatoes ! No guests but the full works anyway ! Brenda after freshening up managed to go for a walk, at lunch time, with the dog as there was no sign of the locals ‘ Sniffers ! ’She bumped into Mano and Anna down in Bodega Augustin who were having their Paella for a change. Over the weekend we have spoken to Lumy and asked after her mother, she is fine in her self but is not eating much ( Hospital Food ) She told us that our friend Antonio from around the corner of our street had a nasty fall in the surgery, a good place to have one, earlier in the week after we had been speaking to him – he is no spring chicken( 84 ) and was just getting over a hip replacement operation from a couple of months ago after a fall in his house, this time he has done the other hip ! Brenda shot down with a card and asked the family after him, his son is our local ‘ Ronnie Barker ’shopkeeper and his granddaughter is the hairdresser around the corner, we are thinking about him and hope that he gets over he latest set back –soon ! In the early evening before dinner we watched a charming film, no murder,shooting,bad language, car chases or mayhem, “ Chocolat ” from 2000 starring the mesmerizing French actress Juliette Binoche,JudyDench,Jonny Depp,Alfred Molina, Lena Olin and Leslie Caron – if you have not seen it – watch it!

Later as I was updating the security checks on the PCs.I was able to watch live on Google’s You Tube site, one of over eight million, the amazing pictures of Felix Baumgarten as he jumped from the capsule suspended under a high altitude balloon 24 miles above the Earth - into the unknown ! See the pictures below and above; it took over nine minutes for him to reach the ground after free falling at March 1.24, 833.9mph through the sound barrier !! One “ HELLUVA ” Jump.

Thought for the Day;

Bravery is the capacity to perform even when scared half to death.
