MANILVA START OF THE WEEK.

SUNDAY 1ST JULY 2012.

No roasting at this time of the year, only us out in the sun! So after our tea and toast we freshened ourselves up and then went for a walk with Cheta and found the workmen rushing to finish the pool as it should have opened today, Sunday – they have had to totally rebuild and re-plumbed it after they found a leak earlier in June so they have taken the opportunity to re-style it and also re-tile at the same time to bring it up to competition standard ready for later in the year. We then sat outside Bar Rojas under the shade for a cool lunchtime drink as the ‘ Levante ’wind came along the street; when we got back to the house Brenda shot up to the roof terrace and I settled into the office to watch the “ Tour de France ” It was on our main TV on TVE1 in Spanish as they are covering it fully everyday, meanwhile I have set up the ITV4 coverage in English on the large PC who have the best cycling presenters,Phil Ligget,Paul Sherwin,Gary Imlach and Chris Boardman. I also on the smaller PC can see the BBC Sports page text updates ! Stage 1 was from Liege to Seraing in Belgium over 198 kms. The Slovak Peter Sagan on his debut ride in the tour won the up hill sprint finish and looks like one to watch for in the future, in the overall classification Bradley Wiggins is second behind Fabian Cancellara – today’s stage 2 is from Vise to Tournai over 208 kms and is a ‘ Sprinters ’ stage – Mark Cavendish perhaps ?! We had supper early; Flattened Turkey Breast pan fried in foaming Lime Butter with sliced Green Beans and Square Chips along with the Tomato salsa on the side before we went up to Bar Rojas to watch the game – unbelievable atmosphere and one “ Helluva ” result as Spain as ‘ Vincente del Bosque ’ the coach hailed them ‘ A great generation of Footballer’s ’ and Andres Iniesta was named player of the tournament by UEFA in the Euro 2012. Manilva went mad as did the rest of Spain and today in Madrid it will be wild as they return with the cup !


PS; The ‘ thoughtsofoscar,blogspot.com ’ page that I follow over in North Wales with all sorts of stories on life, politics etc. has the morning denied me access ? ! I can’t contact him as the author is unknown – it is strange as is the past and even most recently I have posted on the page and he has mentioned us and our past life’s as they crossed – he was a customer at the Hotel 70 ! ‘ Oscar ’ Help !! We are missing you !! - Thanks ' Oscar ' we are back with you !


PPS; Mark Cavendish has just won Stage 2 in a sprint finish as I forecast !! It's his 21 st stage win in the Tour de France !!! See the picture above.
