MONDAY 23rd JULY 2012.
As we were getting up on Monday morning I switched on the PCs and the Skype Video alarm for an incoming call was going; it was Tim over in Old Colwyn much to our surprise, he had just returned from a holiday in South East France near to the border with Pyrenees. He and Thea flew to Toulouse and then were picked up and taken to their villa in Fassiac;they were with three other couples and had taken the place of some friends who could not make it. The area looks spectacular and charming in the pictures that he has posted on Facebook,they visited the village of ‘ Albi ’the birthplace of Toulouse Lautrec – later they went to the very old town of Cordes and one of the party when out shopping bumped into the ‘ Tour De France ’in the village of San Antonin Noble Val !! I have posted a few pictures above showing a part of France that you don’t hear or see much about.
In the evening after our supper we watched a true-life story about a Dublin crime boss Martin Cahill, the film is about the several daring heists that he pulled off in the 1980s and the attention that he attracted from the Gardai,PIRA and the UVF. It is called “ The General ” and was directed by John Boorman; Cahill is played by Brendan Gleeson, the Gardai police inspector by Jon Voight ( with a passable Irish accent ) and his close friend is played by Adrian Dunbar. The ending is predictable !
Thought for the Day;
You don’t get in life what you want , you get in life what you are.
