MANILVA MID WEEK.

WEDNESDAY 18th JULY 2012.

Another hot one today so the village goes even quieter than usual, the shutter’s are down and the children don’t come out to play until 11-00pm as it cools down and they are still out at 1-00am as we are starting to go to bed ! Last night as I was reading the news on the BBC and the Daily Mail – online at about 1-45am I noticed that Jack and Lyn over in Melbourne had just come online on the Skype Video; It is 9-45am over in Australia so I woke Brenda up ( She was only dozing ! ) and so we made contact with the folks and had a good chat and caught up with all their news, they read the blog religiously so they know what we have been up to ! In a months time they are going to Kuala Lumpur to visit Jeff and Annette and they are looking forward to their first trip as back in Australia they are in the middle of a cold and wet winter, meanwhile in ‘ KL ’ it is very hot and humid. In the morning we shot down to Sabinillas to shop and when we got back Cheta came bounding in – she is OK but it will take a while for her to get better.

In the afternoon Brenda was up on the roof terrace and finished the Stieg Larsson book; I watched the stage 16 of the Tour, the stage was won by the Frenchman, Thomas Voeckler, a Robin Williams look-alike,see the picture above, he also re-captured the ‘ Polka Dot ’ jersey as the King of the Mountains ’ as he was the first over the four climbs of the day ! Wiggins with help of his team mate Froome held off the dogged attacks of their Italian rival Vincenzo Nibali who is laying third and is only 18 seconds behind Froome ! Wiggins looked completely in control on all the climbs in the 90-degree temperatures with precious little shelter; Either Wiggins or Froome closed down every attack on the last mountain and so there is no change in the overall classification. Just four more Pyrenean mountains remain today for Bradley Wiggins to negotiate safely, sadly on the ‘ Circle of Death ’four climbs Cadel Evans, last years winner, on the final climb of the day cracked and was beaten man, drained of energy and hope – he finished five minutes behind and is now seventh in the standings.

After supper we watched TV and caught a historical drama/ new series just starting with Sean Bean in the main role [ more details to follow when I have researched ) and then found another new cops in New York series starring Tom Selleck ! The new TV has more channels and also it is in English automatically when the programme is made in English ! The pictures below from the “ Pollards Inn ”especially the ‘ Charlolais Beef ’look's mouthwatering !

PS; The Medieval Fantasy series is " Game of Thrones " and has a very good mainly English cast - one to catch - and the Cop series is called " Blue Blood " and is filmed on location in New York and follows the life's of the whole family of Tom Selleck which are all involved in the Police.

Thought for the Day;

Fight till the last gasp.
