THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A VERY FRESH & SUNNY MANILVA;

....

A VERY ' CRISP' & FRESH' SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY.

SUNDAY 29th/ DECEMBER 2019.

We had yet another nice lie in this morning, after ‘Pucci’ woke us very early, to go out, after freshening up I had my favourite ‘ Toasted Crispy Smoked Bacon Butty ‘ – smothered in ‘ HP’ Brown sauce – open on brown for Brenda, with her favourite sliced Baby Mushrooms sautéed in the bacon juices with a knob of butter, some of which made it into my Butty!  Mugs of hot/strong tea helped to wash them down.

The morning has started a little grey & overcast, like yesterday, the sun is attempting to break through, the clouds are starting to clear away as there is a stiff breeze, so by lunchtime it’s due to only reach 16 degs+ down to 11/12 degs during the night, next week is now looking a little unsettled as the new ‘Atlantic’ front comes in bringing with it some of the ‘ Wet-Stuff’ towards the end of the week, over the ‘New Year 2020’ celebrations, as we move into the next decade, we could have some sunshine ,while still being partly cloudy, hovering in the mid ‘ teens’ Watch this space.

At lunchtime, in front of the Town Hall the annual charity ‘San Silvestre Race’ starts over the short 1.3 kms route around the village, entry is by donations of non-perishable goods, they are putting up the ‘ starts gates’ etc at the moment, later in the ‘Plaza de la Vendemia’ there are Bouncy Castles with ‘ Fake Snow ‘ – together with various ‘ happenings’ then at 4-00 pm there is band on one of the stages, as the dancing, singing and drinking starts!

See above. later, for more pictures!

For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Grilled Rump Steaks’ – flattened and cooked ‘ A La Minute’ – topped with ‘ Campo’ Fried Eggs, garnished with seared Baby Mushrooms and served with whole Baby ‘ French’ Green Beans and triple-cooked ‘ Frits’ No forgetting the ‘Dijon Mustard’ on the side.

Later this afternoon after the festivities have finished we will settle down and relax, taking things easy and keeping warm, this evening as usual channel hopping to find something to watch.

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A NOW SUNNY MANILVA;

...

A NOW BRIGHT & SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY.

SATURDAY 28th/ DECEMBER 2019.

We had a nice long lie in this morning, as the village is very quiet, after freshening up Brenda was on the breakfast rota, as usual, on a Saturday morning, so I had her famous ‘ Campo’ Poached Eggs on Toast, Boiled for her, with brown toast fingers, with mugs of hot tea.

Overnight ‘ Pucci’ stayed with us upstairs, he needed to go out during the night, even though he had been out for his four walks during the day, the last one before we go to bed, he’s got his usual ‘ spots’ around the bottom of the village.

Tomorrow morning, starting outside the Town Hall, it’s the annual ‘Xmas Charity Run’ – just 1.3 kms around the village, with donations of non-perishable goods for all the local charities, when all the village, young & old take part. There will be Bouncy Castles in the ‘Plaza de la Vendemia’ – later a Band on the stages along ‘ Calle Mar’ – as well as other ‘Xmas’ happenings!

PS, On ‘Boxing Day’ - down on the beach in Sabinillas, there was a charity ‘Dip in the Mediterranean’ for a major Charity, which takes place each year, our friend Daniela, is the secretary of the ‘ St Georges Charity’

PPS; Last night in the ‘Wine Museum Theatre’ there was a children’s ‘Disney Land Style Pantomime ‘ performed by the local Theatre School.

This morning has started a little grey & overcast, there is a stiff breeze, so by lunchtime it’s due to clear, with a few patchy clouds hanging around, only reaching 16/17 degs+ - tomorrow is looking the same, next week as we enter 2020, is now looking a little unsettled, with sunshine at times, going a little cooler as the breeze stiffens, hovering in the mid ‘ teens’ 14/15 degs – overnight back down to 9/10 degs at times, with the chance of the ‘ Wet-Stuff’ hitting us! Watch this space.

On our lunchtime walk along ' Calle Mar' we ended up back sat outside ' Bar Rojas - Sol Vida Pizzeria ' for a change, in the hot sunshine, with a nice cool drink, sat next to us also taking advantage of the hot sun was ' Chris, Sarah & Rosemary' from Estepona, we had a nice chat with them, before they headed off back home to Estepona.

Today on the sports front; Everton are going across on the M62, to play Newcastle Utd, then on Sunday Liverpool are at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers, on Sunday, also, Manchester City are at home to Sheffield Utd, last night Manchester City lost 3-2 at Wolverhampton Wanderers after having a 0-2 lead, and are now 14 points behind Liverpool, who also have a game in hand! The fixtures over the ‘ Xmas/New Year’ in the ‘Premiere League’ are ‘mad’!

This afternoon the ‘ National Hunt Racing’ comes from Newbury and two other courses.

For our supper this evening we are, for a change, not having our usual ‘ Steak Night’ – instead we are keeping very simple, as we are having cold sliced ‘Roast Turkey Breast’ served with Broccoli Florets and thinly sliced ‘ French’ Green Beans, with Parsley New Potatoes, on the side Cranberry sauce and Mayonnaise!

On Sunday evening it’s going to ‘Grilled Rump Steaks’ – flattened and cooked ‘ A La Minute’ – with seared Baby Mushrooms & Asparagus Spears, and triple-cooked ‘ Frits’!

We are having an ‘at home day’ - taking things very easy, relaxing and basically doing nothing, because we can! We will watch the racing this afternoon and then channel hop to find something to watch, if possible, not ‘Xmas’ based!!

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM SUNNY MANILVA;

....

A ' FRESH' AND WARM SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF THE LAST WEEKEND OF 2019!

FRIDAY 27th/ DECEMBER 2019.

We had a nice, long, lie in this morning, as I didn’t need to go out on my travels, down to Sabinillas, for the weekly shopping, as we are well stocked up, also we have still not got the car back from the garage, after all the repairs and re-taking the ‘ ITV-MOT’- watch this space.

If only!

The only problem is where to put the shopping !!

After freshening up Brenda took ‘ Pucci’ out for his first walk of the day, he spent the night with us on the rug by the side of the bed, as he’s been asking to go out during the middle of the night, he’s settled down and I had to wake him up this morning! He’s with us in ‘ Doggy World Heaven’ until ‘New Years Day’ - in the evening.

When they returned, as I was on the breakfast rota, again, I had a little treat of a ‘Toasted ‘ Campo’ Fried Egg (2) Butty’ – smothered in ‘HP’ Brown sauce, with brown toast, for Brenda, with mugs of strong/hot ‘PG’ Tips Tea!

After breakfast we called Jenny, over in Runcorn, Cheshire, were she is staying with Norah over Christmas, as it’s her birthday today, we managed to talk/see her on the ‘Facebook Video ‘ link-up on Darren’s, Norah’s son, mobile phone, for the first time!  Hopefully her & Norah will be online in 2020, on ‘Facebook & Skype’ – watch this space.

Brenda then shot out on her travels, staying local, as she went along to the ‘ Chemists ‘ in Calle Mar, to top up our prescription tablets, then call into the main ‘Supermarket’ – there are now two, next to one another, before dropping down to our local shop, at the bottom of our street, to pick up some essential fresh vegetables etc.

We have another beautiful day, here in sunny Manilva, the sun was out first thing, the sky is slowly clearing with a few patchy clouds hanging around, the breeze has picked up a little, so by lunchtime it’s going to only reach 18 degs+ - over the weekend staying a little cooler as the breeze stiffens, next week is now forecast to be mainly dry & settled, with patchy clouds, hovering in the mid ‘teens’ at around 16/17 degs+ - overnight dropping down to 11/12 degs, with the chance of some of the ‘Wet-Stuff’ with us, over the ‘New Year’ celebrations, by the following first weekend of 2020, back to warm & sunny, watch this space.

Just as we were about to go out for our lunchtime walk our dear friend ' Big Brian' called to see us, so we went along to ' Bar Castillo' for a nice cool drink and a catch up.

Just a quick update on the football results from yesterday; Everton won 1-0 & brilliant Liverpool, playing sublime passing football, beat Leicester City, at home - who are 2nd in the ‘Premiere League’ – 0-4! So Liverpool are now 13 POINTS’ clear at the top of ‘Premiere League’!!

This afternoon we will be watching the ‘ National Hunt Racing’ again,  from Kempton Park & Chepstow, where it’s the ‘ Welsh Grand National’ – over 3 miles and 5 furlongs, with twenty-two fences!

For our supper this evening we are having ‘Grilled Salmon Steaks’ – finished ‘A La Meuniere’ style, with nut-brown Parsley Butter, served with ‘Al Dente’ - ‘ Mangetout  – Sugar Snap Peas ’ & Parsley New Potatoes. The weekend Menus are still TBC, watch this space.

We are relaxing and taking things very easy this afternoon/evening, settled down on the settee, in front to the TV, as usual, catching up with all the news, later after supper channel hopping to find something to watch that is not ‘ Christmas’ related!
