A VERY CLAMMY & STILL SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF THE 'FERIA' WEEKEND;
FRIDAY 7th/ AUGUST 2015.
We we were 'up and at/them' this morning and after grabbing a quick breakfast we shot down to Sabinillas for our weekly shopping;
The workmen arrived as usual on the early shift and carried on with building the brick walls & windows - see the picture below taken by Den from his back roof terrace.You can see the monstrosity/carbuncle on the top of the building which is the entrance onto the roof terrace?? - from the stairs!!
I called into the bank for some cash and then we stopped at the 'English Bookshop' for the weekly English newspapers and another book,next we went into 'Mercadona' and beat the crowds before popping along to the local market at the end of the promenade for some fresh flowers,
As we arrived back up at the house 'Chispa' was waiting to greet us home! After unpacking I shot along to the chemists in 'Calle Mar' for my tablets - 'keep taking them' - as our Doctor says!
We are taking things easy today as its very 'clammy' and rather over bearing as the sun tries to brake through, overnight the 'Sahra Sand' came in and has covered all the cars in a fine coating,it even reached into the underground car park!
As we were sat up at 'Bar Rojas' at lunchtime our dear friend Brian came along, so we had a good old catch up and gossip.
The Water Engineer has just arrived to check/find the water leak - fingers crossed - WATCH THIS SPACE! Well after nearly two hours he located the leak in a hot water pipe in the small downstairs toilet under the marble floor, we can isolate the supply for now - all we need then is for our handyman to come and fix it!! WATCH THIS SPACE - AGAIN!
After our 'Happy Hour' ( actually two)! we are going out on the 'town' this evening as its the 'Chef's & Staff' night off; we are going along to 'Bar Castillo' first for some Tapas and then will come back to 'Bar Rojas' for a late supper!
Over the next two weeks the 'Wine' pictures below have been sent to me in an E-Mail from our old customers & friends who live in France outside Caan -Terry & Alma- many thanks - enjoy your wine!

A VERY CLOSE & SUNNY MANILVA ON THURSDAY;
THURSDAY 6th/ AUGUST 2015.
We all just got up this morning when we were ready after another sticky night,the dogs 'Freddie & Bentley' sleep all night,both on their beds on the floor either side of our bed! The workmen arrived on the early shift as normal and have just cleaned the roof terrace( box) after yesterdays bricks going up.
After our regular breakfast we planned our weekend ahead; tomorrow morning we are going down to Sabinillas for our weekly shopping as usual,then tomorrow evening its the Chef's night off so he's taking the staff out on the town - well we are going on a Tapas trail along Calle Mar!
On Saturday its the 'Feria Queens' parade along Calle Mar but this year its earlier than normal as the new Council have changed the route,its starting at 5-30 pm! Then on Sunday we are out for our regular 'Paella' lunch at Bar Castillo! Its another 'exciting' weekend,by our simple standards, in sunny Manilva.
'Freddie & Bentley' are due to be collected later this morning, we have loved having them,they are such well behaved dogs,good company and easy to look after,hopefully we will see them again soon in 'Doggy World Heaven' 'Reina' arrived this morning and is with us until later this evening as Lee & Daniela are going out for dinner with their family who are over on holiday. Of course, no doubt,'Chispa' will come calling a little later to play with anybody that is still here!
PS; At the ' Ashes Fourth Test Match' at Trent Bridge Nottingham this morning England dismissed Australia for 60 - the lowest first innings in Test Match history with Stuart Broad taking 8 wickets for 15 runs in 9.3 overs! Sorry to all our Australian family & friends!See below;
Its another very close and hot day in sunny Manilva as there is no breeze today,the forecast for the weekend is that its getting hotter after the warmest July in over 30 years,next week its more of the same.
We of course are still having our 'Happy Hour' but at the moment the roof 'box' is out of bounds! We enjoy our couple of hours reading and listening to the local radio station - its the simple things in life that give you the most pleasure! Unusually we don't know what we are having for supper yet,I will find something later,at this time of the year we keep it as simple as possible, even by our standards,most of the time!
After watching the main news on TVE1 we will channel hop to find something to follow.
PS; Supper this evening was a " Broad Bean & Smoked Bacon Frittata" See below;

" CALLE SAN VICENTE 1 " ROOF 'BOX' THIS AFTERNOON!
And finally the 'View' from our Roof ' Box' as we now call it!!
And Friday afternoon !
A VERY WARM & STICKY SUNNY MANILVA ON WEDNESDAY;
WEDNESDAY 5th/ AUGUST 2015.
We all had a little lie in this morning until the workmen got into their full working mode with as much noise as possible! From the pictures that Den has sent this morning it's looking more like there is going to be a large roof terrace and no roof! - 'Cheeky B-----s' - see below?!
They have just 'bricked' in our roof terrace and confirmed that there is no roof going up - its just a large terrace!! See below;( with my slippers hanging out to dry!)
The two dogs have slept all night and are very well behaved,this morning we took then out for their early morning walk before our breakfast,they are eating well and have settled in, last night as we walked them along Calle Mar we bumped into Adrian & Rose with 'Scruffy' having a Tapas supper at 'Bar Castillo' so they all made friends, it was them that introduced us to Val & Caroline! ie. 'Freddie & Bentley'!!
After breakfast 'Chispa' came calling and is now playing around my feet with her new found friends - then 'Reina' arrived to make it the 'Gang of Four' - they all seem to be getting on with one another - at the moment! 'Freddie & Bentley' are being picked up on Thursday morning.
We are having another relaxing day just doing nothing,because we can! Brenda is pottering at the moment and I'm up in the office on the WWW, catching up with all the news; a read the 'BBC News' first then move on to 'CNN' before 'Al Jezeera' - next its the newspapers with the Daily Mail & Daily Mirror ( sorry Josie) before the local newspaper in the North Wales, the Daily Post - then I check out the E-Mails & Facebook for any messages - its then time to type the Blog and post it after Brenda has 'proof' read it!
At lunchtime we popped along to the chemist's in 'Calle Mar' for some eye drops for Brenda and on the way back we met Mano & Anna in 'Bar Rojas' for a cool drink and a chat and gossip.
For our supper this evening we are having Grilled 'Chicken Wings' with a Mixed Salad & a Baked Potato and my homemade 'BBQ' sauce on the side to dip! We will then try to find a good film to watch after the main news on TVE1.
PS; The " Manilva Feria"- ' Fair' starts this evening down in the 'Rastro Ground" in the valley below the village; its on until Sunday,on Saturday evening there is the 'Feria Queen's 'parade along Calle Mar.

A LITTLE COOLER BUT STILL SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY;
TUESDAY 4th/ AUGUST 2015.
During the night a little breeze got up and made it a more bearable to get some sleep for the first time in over two months; the forecast for the week and over the weekend is for more sun and clear skies, more like normal for this time of the year but still very hot and getting hotter by the end of the week.
We grabbed a quick breakfast before 'Freddie & Bentley' arrived at 9-00 am, they have both settled in very well,as you cane see below, and are into our routine already - 'Reina' came along a little later this morning and has shot upstairs and gone to bed out of the way, as usual! No doubt 'Chispa' will come calling later to check out her new friends.See below;

Today we are taking things easy and just pottering about the house with nothing to do,which means that Brenda is bored already as has has nothing to do - the washing has just gone on and the ironing is done! The word for today is " RELAX"!!
Yesterday I chased up the solicitor's as there is no sign of anybody coming to check for the water leak; she rang me back last night and they are arranging for the specialist company to come in the next few days, the water consumption is still up, Brenda as usual checks the meter everyday & at night we are turning off the water at the mains tap! Watch this space.
The workmen on the building site are very busy each day,there are now four 'Brickee's' working all the time on the early shift with deliveries of more sand,cement and bricks every day; very soon now we will loose all our views as they reach our roof terrace! See below;
We are still managing to go up on the roof terrace for out 'Happy Hour'each day,we are catching up with our reading and also enjoy listening to the local radio station before supper time, speaking of which, this evening we are having " Escalope of Pork Schnitzels" - 'Holstein' style - with Anchovy Fillets & Capers - served with my special " Spaghetti Milanese" made with my Tomato Salsa and some Garden Peas on the side,for color!
We will then catch up with the News, all the sport round ups and then the weather forecast before settling down to find something to watch.
