A VERY CRISP & SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY.

SUNDAY 30th/ APRIL 2017.

We had a nice lie in this morning until the church bells started calling the faithful, after our tea & toast with fresh fruit we sorted ourselves out for the day ahead, we have no plans, we are just taking things very easy, it’s a ‘Bank Holiday’ weekend over here as well - ‘ Labour Day ‘ on Monday, we have a ‘ busy’ week ahead, by our standards, with appointments etc every day.

Overnight the wind blew the rain away, this morning its clear & crisp with a stiff breeze, the sky is clearing and the clouds have gone, by lunchtime it will reach the low 20s as the sun breaks through, next week its forecast to be warm & sunny, getting a little hotter as the week goes on, next weekend is also fine, watch this space.

Just a quick sports update; Barcelona won 0-3 ( sorry Mano !) Real Madrid won 2-1, so no change at the top of the ‘ La Liga’ – Murray lost & Nadal won in the ‘Barcelona Open’ Tennis semi-finals. Lewis Hamilton is only 4th of the grid with the two Ferrari’s on a front row lock-out at the ‘ Russian Grand Prix over in Sochi. Meanwhile over at Wembley in front of a 90,000 crowd Anthony Joshua stopped Wladimir Klitschko in the 11th round after being knocked down in the 6th round!

For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Medallions of Pork Fillet ‘ cooked on the griddle plate, with a sharp/piquant ‘ Charcutiere ‘ sauce on the side, assorted vegetables and my version of ‘ Breton’ potatoes, boiled/diced potatoes tossed in butter with sautéed diced Onions, Red & Green Peppers and chopped Parsley.

See below;

Then on Monday evening, using the rest of the ‘Fillet of Pork’ it’s going to be ‘ Escalopes of Pork Schnitzels’ –  coated with breadcrumbs from the local bakery with ‘Spaghetti Milanese ‘ – tossed in my famous Tomato sauce with strips of Smoked Ham.

This evening after supper we will settle down to watch the final episode of the very gripping ‘ Line of Duty ‘ on BBC 1, is it set to end in a shattering shootout?! Who is ‘ Balaclava Man ‘ ?! All will be revealed, watch this space.

A STILL WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON THURSDAY;

THURSDAY 3rd/ NOVEMBER 2016.

I saw ‘ Reina’ back with us for the day, Brenda grabbed a quick shower, I’m due later, we then took ‘ Pax’ out for his first walk of the day, when we returned ‘ Chispa ‘ came rushing up our street to welcome us back, we then had breakfast before sorting our day out, we got the shopping list ready for tomorrow morning, planned the menu’s for over the weekend, Brenda is putting some washing on the go and I’m up in the office/studio on the WWW.

Today it’s still warm & sunny with no breeze, the forecast for over the weekend is looking settled but it now looks like next week we are in for a change, wind & rain on the horizon, we can’t complain after the last 8/9 months, after all its November!

See the picture below of the sun set view across the mountains down to Gibraltar, across the ‘Strait’s’ to Africa and further down the coast towards the mountains above Tarifa.

For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Grilled Chicken Wings ‘ with a Baked Potato and Green Beans on the side, a little Mixed Salad for Brenda, tomorrow night we are going to try the new ‘ Fish & Chip’ shop ‘ Skipper's’  - which is at the far end of the promenade in Sabinillas, it’s the ‘Chef’s’ night off, we are taking ‘Pax’ with us and will sit on the front with a ‘take out’ watching the sun set over the Mediterranean!

On Saturday we are having our steaks in a sauce, ‘Diane or Au Poivre’ for a change, then on Sunday it’s going to be my famous ‘ Smoked Chicken & Three Green Bean Risotto’- Brenda has just bought the fresh local Beans from the shop in our street.

More sightings on Facebook’ this morning of the ‘Moffatt’s’ ( well Tim !) out and about in a Javea. See below.

See the picture below taken last week, by a drone, of ‘Colwyn Bay’ promenade in North Wales.

After supper last night we caught up with the next episode of ‘ The Missing’ – another surprise ending making the case even harder to understand – just when you think that you’re even vaguely on top, something happens that makes the whole thing even more indecipherable, who is the third girl, the ‘DNA’ results that we were not expecting, a visit to a strange grave yard, the  ‘ Military Police’ women who has lost her baby at birth and is also having an affair with the main character, her father, who is suffering from Senile Dementia, could he be involved in the cover up?! Finally is the dead girl ‘ Dead ‘??!!

Watch this space, all will be revelled, we hope!

A BREEZY BUT STILL VERY WARM SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY;

TUESDAY 15th/ SEPTEMBER 2015.

I was up early as 'Reina; was due back with us for the day,she arrived just as all the children were going back to school after their three month holiday! Its even more quiet in the village, for now, the workmen opposite have finished and on the site they are working down the far end at the moment.

The sky is blue and the sun was out first thing this morning so by lunchtime it will reach 29 degs; there is stiff breeze that is keeping away any of the nasty stuff that Northern & Central Spain are having today,the forecast for the rest of the week is settled if a little cooler down here on the 'Costa Del Sol' - fingers crossed for next weeks celebrations!

I shot down to our butchers yesterday evening for some diced Beef as we have decided to have an old classic for our supper this evening; " Beef Bourguignon " - my version - its the basic recipe using Baby Shallots,Smoked Bacon,Button Mushrooms & Red Wine with the addition of a 'Mirepoix' of diced Vegetables,Carrots,Celery,Leeks, Onions,

They are all sweated off with a dash of Tabasco & Lea & Perrins, the Beef is dusted in seasoned flour and browned off before adding it to the pot and then topped up with a rich Beef & Vegetable stock and a cap of Gravy Browning then left on a low light to cook under the watchful eye of the Assistant Chef ( Brenda)! I will adjust the consistency this evening; Brenda has prepared a dish of her famous 'Mashed Potato' with Baby New Carrots & Garden Peas. The aromas are wafting upstairs into the office and up our street! See below;

Tomorrow morning we are going across to Estepona, first, to get some new batteries for our watches and to get then checked over, then we are calling into the Hypermarket before shooting along the coast to the shopping Mall 'La Canada' above Marbella for some retail therapy - shopping!

We manged to get up on the roof box/chimney yesterday evening foe a short while for our' Happy Hour' cocktails as the workmen finished for the day early. this evening after supper we watch some 'Champions League' Qualification football live on TVE 1
