A NOW ' FRESH & BRIGHT SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY.

TUESDAY 28th/ APRIL 2020.    “ STATE OF ALARM – DAY 45 “

After freshening up we had our regular toast & tea before getting another day on the go, down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ in sunny Manilva (see below) in ‘ LOCKDOWN’

Sadly this morning has started grey & overcast, with a stiff breeze, at the moment it’s just started spitting, so by lunchtime it’s still going to reach 20 degs+ and is now warm & sunny with a blue sky-  - overnight down to 13 degs+ - the rest of the week and over the coming weekend we are in for a long spell of dry and sunny weather, with a few patchy clouds at times, but hovering in the low 20s, as the breeze drops, going a little warmer each day & overnight, by next Tuesday up to 26 degs+ - all the time warm & sunny, the following week is also looking like we are in for more of the same, watch this space.

Yesterday evening we had a nice long message/update, on ‘Facebook Messenger’ from Sandra & Bill, over in Everett, Ontario, Canada, with all their news, they of course, see all our news on the Blog, they have managed to get out in the garden and go for walks, it’s still only 12 c over there, over the weekend they relocated the trailer up to the campground, even though it remains closed, all the events in their area have been cancelled including the ‘ Alliston Potato Festival’! We have arranged a ‘ Skype’ video link up on Sunday, at the usual times, as next Monday it’s Bill’ s birthday, so we are going to have a nice glass of chilled ‘Cava’ with them! Take care & Safe and Well – we are looking forward to our chat- “ LOVE “

As I have started to type/post today’s Blog I have as usual been listening to the ‘Lockdown Party’ show on ‘ Castle Radio FM 89.2 & Online on the WWW’ – the ‘Music Quiz’ came on, it was ‘ Roxy Music’ with Brain Ferry  - Let’s Love Together’! – sadly yesterday and today I haven’t got the ‘Mystery Voice’ – on Monday it was the lady boxer ‘Nicola Adams’

“ CORONAVIRUS UPDATE – COVID 19 PANDEMIC “

All very quiet today with no news updates to report, so far, as usual the ‘ Council’ cleaning department are out & about washing down all the streets, sanitizing & humidifying, as the severe ‘Spanish’ LOCKDOWN – is still in force, over all the Country, with the ‘ Policia Local, National Policia, the Guardia Civil & here the ‘ Spanish Foreign Legion’ out on the street all the time, not forgetting the local ‘ Proteccion Civil’ helping!

For our supper this evening we are keeping things simple, we are having ‘ Grilled Chicken ‘ –  sliced/flattened breasts seared on a very hot griddle plate – finished with a ‘Lemon & Balsamic Vinegar’ salsa, garnished with seared Button Mushrooms, served with finely sliced ‘ French’ Green Beans and triple-cooked ‘ Chips’

At the moment on our ‘ Facebook  Timeline page I’m posting ten ‘Albums’ that have greatly influenced my taste in music, as I was nominated by a old friend, in fact I’m going to post a few more as the choice was hard!

By the time we left the ‘UK’ back in 2006, I had a very large collection ( 1000s)  of ‘ LP’s – stored in sealed  old ‘ Tea-Chests’ –which I gave to friends and local ‘ Charities’ as we packed up and left on our travels in the ‘ Winnebago ‘ on September the 1st 2006,  see below;

Over the years, starting at the age of 15, I bought my first Albums at the ‘ NEMS’ ( North End Music Stores) owned by Brian Epstein, the ‘ Beatles’ manager, in Whitechapel, Liverpool, just a stone’s throw from the ‘ Cavern Club’ in Mathew Street! – see below;

I then used the famous ‘ Probe Records’ shop, during the early 70s/80s on the corner opposite, which was the heart of the new music scene at the time ( Pete Wylie, Julian Cope & Frankie Goes to Hollywood etc!) – see below;

During our time in North Wales I spent a lot of time & money in the small ‘ Eric Y Elways’ record shop, the ‘ 12 inch Kings’ – below the Police Station, next to the Church, in the centre of Colwyn Bay – sadly no picture!

For the more specialist music we went down to Porthmadoc, as on the promenade front, next to/in front of the harbour station of the famous ‘Ffestinog Railway’ was the World famous “ Cob Records “ – for new and second hand ‘ CDs, LPs, & DVDs’ – see below;

Tomorrow I will talk about the list of ‘Albums’ as well as the “ Music Systems “ that they were played on! Watch this space.

                                              “ STAY SAFE & SOUND INSIDE AT ALL TIMES “

A ' FRESH' & SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY.

SATURDAY 28th/ MARCH 2020.     “ STATE OF ALARM  DAY 14 “

We had an official lie in this morning after a good night sleep, we then freshened up and as Brenda was on the breakfast rota she produced her world famous ‘ Campo Poached Eggs on Toast ‘ using the ‘ Pueblo Bread’ for a change, with mugs of hot/strong tea, to start the weekend in the right direction!

See below;

This morning it’s at the moment still dry with a blue but cloudy sky, there is a light breeze so by lunchtime it’s forecast to only reach 15 degs+ - overnight down to 9/10 degs, with still the chance of some ‘ Wet-Stuff’ later, yesterday it stayed dry & sunny, but ‘ Fresh’ – tomorrow it’s going to be the same, next week is now still looking unsettled, with a little sunshine to start on Monday, then a few days of rain, by next weekend back to sunny & dry, with patchy clouds, hovering in the high ‘ teens’ as the breeze drops, watch this space.

“ CORONAVIRUS UPDATE – COVID 19 “

We are having a quiet weekend in ‘ LOCKDOWN’ – taking things very easy, relaxing, as we face, at the very least, another two weeks inside, staying ‘ SAFE & SOUND’

On Monday I will be calling the ‘ Costa Del Sol Hospital’ to cancel Brenda’s appointments, in mid April and then June, she was due tests in the ‘ Cardiogia/Ecocardiografia ‘ Departments and then a check-up/results’ meeting with the ‘ Heart’ Consultant, hopefully we will get back in the system later in the year, watch this space.

Every day we have ‘E-Mails/Facebook’ messages from old friends, family, old staff & customers asking after us, we also send ‘ Birthday Greetings’ all the time to them and locals here in sunny Manilva. Keep in touch it’s so nice to hear from you all at the difficult time!

NB; One day a week we have decided not to watch the news on the TV as well as not reading anything, as each day goes more critical here in Spain especially, and all over the World, to give us a break from the worry etc!

This evening the clocks go forward an hour!

For our supper this evening we are having “ Steak & Chips “ – a grilled piece of  ‘Spanish Steak’ – seasoned with Sea Salt & crushed Black Peppercorns – then grilled on a very hot griddle-plate ‘ Med-Rare’ and left to rest, sliced into fingers ‘ French’ style and garnished with pan-seared Asparagus Spears, Button Mushrooms, Shallots & Plum Tomato, accompanied with Dijon Mustard and severed with Whole ‘ French’ Baby Green Beans and of course triple-cooked ‘ Frits’

We are watching a lot of TV during the day and later in the evening, all the ‘ Quiz Shows’ that we follow are nearing the ‘Finals’ over the next two weeks, there are many more food/chef/cooking programmes on (repeats) as well all the usual programmes, we have to channel hop as we don’t have any programme guides, so we are finding different show to watch, which we normally woundn’t catch, and later more old films are now being shown!
