A VERY SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY;

SATURDAY 1 st/ AUGUST 2015.

We had a nice long lie in this morning as there are no workmen and the village is very quiet,for now; Brenda made her famous 'Campo Poached Eggs on Toast' for breakfast ( see below ) before we planned our day ahead - so no plans we are just taking things as they come,this evening 'Scruffy' is back with us for a sleep over and 'Chispa' is here at the moment playing around my feet up in the office.

Today is warm & sunny but just a little cooler after last nights very welcome cooling breeze,then tomorrow its getting hotter again as the next Heat Wave hits us from Africa!

We went out later last night and had a late Tapas supper along at Bar Castillo were they looked after us,Brenda had some Sword Fish which was very tasty as well the Mussels in breadcrumbs and I had a small selection of all my favourites - just right to end a very pleasant day.

We also were able to see the " Blue Moon" above Calle Mar - its not actually Blue - it occurs every 30 months and happens when there are two full moons in the same month - not a lot of people know that - they do now! See the pictures below, not taken by me but by some friends!!

Tomorrow evening we have been invited to the official opening of the new Museum,Exhibition & Cultural Centre " Casa los Torres' at the bottom of our street,Den & Josie are joining us and then we will have another late Tapas supper up at Bar Castillo!

Now for something different - in North Wales at the moment its all happening as the first inland surf lagoon in the World - " Surf World" has just opened in the Conwy valley - it has a two metre high barreling wave that runs for over 150 metre's - see the pictures below;

Also in North Wales there is the longest,highest & fastest Zip ride in the World; " Zip World" over the Penrhyn Quarry in Bethesda - its 1 mile long at a hight of 500 feet and you travel down it at over 100 mph! See the pictures below;

They have just opened another one over the famous Llechwedd Slate Cavens in Blaenau Ffestiniog which takes four people, at the same time - there is also the first indoor zip wire in the World!!

So for our supper this evening we are having a 'Entrecote' Minute Steak cooked on a very hot griddle plate Med-Rare with sauteed Baby Mushrooms,whole Green beans and a Baked Potato; we will then catch up with the news,all the sports round ups and the weather forecast before settling down to watch a film.

See below the " Postcard" produced by Den of different views of the 'Iglesia Santa Ana Church'

MANILVA BAND CONCERT FRIDAY 23RD JULY.

FRIDAY 23RD JULY 2010.

CONCERT BT THE MUNICIPAL BAND OF MANILVA.

On another balmy evening on the stage in front of the old town hall on Calle Mar the municipal band gave a concert lead by Fernando Antinolo Bueno the director of the School of Music; The Manilva band was formed back in 1997 to lead the various marches and processions and gave its first performance on the 20th December. The repertoire of the band over the years has grown under the leadership of Fernando Antinolo Bueno,the director of the music school and they now play traditional,classical,jazz and modern music as well as still leading the processions,as they will be doing on Monday for the Vebena Santa Ana de Manilva celebrations,Fernando is a graduate of the Conservatoire of Malaga and his knowledge and leadership of the band is shown in its repertoire which is made up from the village people and in some cases family members who perform with great gusto and professionalism. The concert this evening was held in front of the large audience who listened with rapt concentration as ManilvaTV once again filmed the concert to be shown on the TV at a later date; the Mayor, Antonia Munuz who was at the front, led the audience in a standing ovation at the end. They had performed a programme of difficult versions of the various types of music with great aplomb and there were some individual solo performances from members of the band; Once again another memorable evening in good old sunny Manilva !
