SUNNY MANILVA AND LONDON TODAY

SATURDAY 15^th/JUNE 2013.

After a nice lie in this morning and our tea and toast we have freshened ourselves up and are going out for our walk with Chispa after I have finished watching the “ Trooping of the Colour ” from ‘ Horse Guards Parade’ in London's Whitehall to celebrate the official 82nd birthday of HM Queen Elizabeth 11. See the pictures above.

Before the parade I was watching “Saturday Morning Kitchen”with Michele Roux preparing a Dover Sole dish; meanwhile over in Australia the ‘British and Irish Lions’ are taking on the ‘New South Wales Waratahs’ – half time score 17-30 to the Lions. The final result 17-47 with Jonny Sexton scoring again and Leigh Halfpenny scoring 30 points!

Over in Brazil it is the start of the “FIFA Confederation Cup ” with eight teams taking part,Brazil,Spain,Italy,

Mexico,Japan,Uruguay,Nigereria and Taheti ?! More to follow;

Then it’s the qualifying for the ‘Motor GP of Catalunya in Barcelona which has just started; this morning I have made for our lunch ‘Ensaladilla Ruse’ the Spanish version of the classic Potato salad invented in the late XIX century, with hard –boiled Egg,Tuna,Red Peppers, Carrots and Peas! This afternoon it is the roof terrace for Brenda with her book and I will join her later for our early evening ‘Cocktails’ as we take in the late afternoon sunshine. For supper this evening it’s our Saturday night special – ‘Steak a la Plancha’ with all the trimmings and of course twice-cooked Chips!

We have just come off a long Skype video call from Tim and Thea over in a rather cool Colwyn Bay! We have had a nice long chat and caught up with all their news; the two main bits being that firstly they are going over to Australia early next year with their two best friends,who have family there and are going to be in the Melbourne area ! Watch out Jack and Lyn !! Secondly Tim had arranged to fly over next weekend and surprise us at our front door,for Brenda's birthday ! But sadly due to circumstance's beyond his control - he can't  !!We are 'Gutted' as it would have been a loverly surprise for Brenda.

Then I will try and find a good film to watch, this week, so we have not been lucky.

MANILVA AT THE START OF THE WEEK.

MONDAY3rd/TUESDAY4th/ WEDNESDAY5th/ DECEMBER 2012.

The forecast for the week is dry and sunny but only reaching 15degs with the possibility of some rain on Friday; It was an at home day on Monday so we caught up with the chores around the house and then settled down to some reading. In the evening for supper we kept it simple, Pan Fried sliced Chicken Breast in foaming Lemon Butter with Baby New Potatoes and Garden Peas and then caught up with the world, local and area news. At midnight we got on the Skype Video to Jack and Lyn over in Melbourne to wish Lyn “ Happy Birthday ”- they are ten hours ahead of us at the moment so it was 10-0clock in the morning over there!

On Tuesday morning we took our friend Gillian over to the bus station in Marbella to catch the bus to the airport in Malaga, she is going over to the Isle of Wight to check on her tenants and house. On the way back we called into a very good card shop in San Pedro to pick up more cards and some Xmas nick-knacks; it was then the English Butchers in Bellavista for Pork Sausages, Pigs in Blanket and some rather nice Rabo De Torro for next week. In the afternoon we watched on the large PC the new series on BBC “ Inside Claridge’s ” which of course to us is very interesting; for supper we had Pork Cutlet pan fried with Lyonnaise Potatoes before we caught the late film – the multi award winning “ The Aviator ”from 2004 with Leonardo DiCaprio playing the main part as Howard Hughes with Cate Blanchett,Jude Law,Alex Baldwin.Gwen Satfani,Willem Defoe and Kate Beckinsale in the other main roles, the film was directed by Martin Scorsesse.

In the morning I had an appointment with our Doctor for a check up and to arrange for my X-Rays and tests later in the month so as I’ am set for my six-month Prostrate check up over at the hospital in Marbella in January. The system is working! When I came back I made a large pan of the Famous Chicken Curry for supper and then put the rest away in the deep-freeze. Wednesday night is now ‘ Downton Abbey ’night – a little surprise at the end when the elderly bridegroom did a runner at the altar, well more of a limp due to his war wounds!
