SUNNY AND A EVEN HOTTER MANILVA AT THE START OF THE WEEKEND

FRIDAY 16th/ AUGUST 2013.

We shot off down to Sabinillas first thing this morning to beat the crowds and the heat,we failed on both as ‘Mercadona’ was packed and it was very hot, down in Sabinillas - it’s always hotter as there is no breeze not like here in sunny Manilva!

The work on the new ‘Plaza de la Vendimia’ is going at a great rate with all the different workman all over the park striving to get it finished in time for the ‘Vendimia Festival’ at the end of the month and also they are trying to finish the improvements to ‘La Pedreta’ See the picture above.

After we had un-packed I shot down to the butchers for our Saturday night ‘Steak’ and Brenda went down to the local market for some fresh flowers; I have just made another batch of my famous Tomato salsa and also made the “ Cruz Campo Batter ” for tonight’s supper, we are having ‘ Merluza – Hake’ with Mushy Peas and small square Chips with the Tomato salsa on the side!

The forecast for the weekend and next week is more of the same and getting hotter, the nights are now also going a lot warmer. Brenda has to wait for the sun to move around before she can go out on the roof terrace to work on the all-over tan!

Tomorrow is the big day – Football is back – over in England in the ‘Premier League’ over the weekend Liverpool are at home to Stoke, Everton are away at Norwich and Manchester City are home to Newcastle on Monday; here in ‘La Liga’ Barcelona are at home to Levante, Real Madrid are also at home to Real Betis and Malaga are away in Valencia.

Thought for the day; See above.

MANILVA START OR THE WEEK.

MONDAY26th/TUESDAY27th/WEDNESDAY 28th MARCH 2012.

Well the weather forecast for the week is better after today; it is getting back to sunshine and clear skies but with a little breeze. Monday was still cloudy and overcast with the threat of rain – which did not arrive! We had an at home day and caught up with all the chores around the house; in the evening after dinner of Mustard Smeared Minute Steak with Chips we settled down and caught a film ; “ The Punisher “ from 2004 was taken from a ‘ Marvel Comics ’character played by Thomas Jane ’ ? With ‘ John Travolta ’as the ruthless baddie in an all action packed movie.

On Tuesday morning after our walk with Cheta I settled down in the office and caught up with the WWW. The picture of Livi in London was posted on Facebook; she is one of Lyn’s Great Grandchildren and she is over in England with her mum’s parents on a trip that we think they won in a competition – TBC – when we next talk to Lyn and Jack ! It was a good washing and drying day for Brenda but not for sitting out on the roof terrace, in the evening after supper of Flattened Breast of Turkey with Basmati Rice and Mushroom cream sauce it was time for football ; on Spanish TV we watched the Champions League Quarter Final first leg between Real Madrid and Apoel Nicosia – Real struggled until the last twenty minutes but won 0-3 and over in Portugal Chelsea had a good win over Benfica 0-1 but the best games where over in England in the FA Cup Quarter-final replays ; Spurs beat Bolton 3-1 and play Chelsea and Everton beat Sunderland 0-2 and will play Liverpool ! in the semi-finals to be played at Wembley. The late film was the classic – “ Seven ” from 1995 is the horror thriller with neo-noir elements about the seven deadly sins, Gluttony, Greed,Sloth,Lust,Pride,Envy and Wrath starring Morgan Freeman,Brad Pitt,Gwyneth Paltrow and Kevin Spacey – Watch it at your peril !!

Today I shot down to the bank in Sabinillas and then on our walk with Cheta called into the surgery as Brenda had an appointment with our Doctor to update her prescriptions. Tonight we are having ‘ Albondigas ’in a rich Tomato sauce ( from the deep freeze ) and topped up from the butchers with his homemade ones with Baby New Potatoes. It is then more football – watch this space.

PS; Barcelona drew at AC Milan 0-0 and Bayern Munich beat Marseille 0-2 in their first leg matches in the Champions League.

Thought for the Day;

Our lives are like the course of the sun. At the darkest moment there is the promise of daylight.

MANILVA.

Wednesday 19th August 2009.

We had our tea and toast with fresh fruit on the terrace before we went across to the hypermarket in Estepona for a change to stock up for the weekend; as we came back into the village Mano,Anna and Carlos were sat outside Bar Rochas so we joined them for a lunchtime drink in the shade of the trees along Calle Mar and caught up with the local gossip, mainly political as we were sat in front of the town hall and at the moment there are all sorts of coming and goings on the council! They invited us around in the evening for supper;Mano had prepared some very nice Tapas and Anna produced one “ Helluva ”Beef and Potato pie as you can see in the picture below! We then watched the live football as Atletico Madrid were playing Panathinaikos in Greece,they won 3-2 and it was a very exciting match, the girls went out on the terrace and put the world to rights! Mano then took us up to the village and we stopped at Morena’s bar for a carajillo only to find Carlos watching a match that we had forgotten about! He had gone home after work and changed into his City shirt and brought Fabio in his shirt as well to watch Manchester City play Barcelona in an invitation cup game at the Nue Camp stadium in Barcelona with nearly one hundred thousand spectators in the ground, Carlos who is a very avid City supporter also follows Barcelona as his team in Spain, unbelievable City scored in the first twenty mins.and held on, just to win!
