ANOTHER CRISP AND WARM DAY HERE IN SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY;

TUESDAY 2nd/ DECEMBER 2014.

No rest for the wicked this morning as little princess ‘Reina’ arrived early; ‘Scruffy’ is arriving at lunchtime for a two day sleep-over and no doubt ‘Chispa’ will come crashing in later this morning – so its back to normal here in ‘Doggy World Heaven’

I’ve just been out to the chemists then the local bank and then carried on down to the butchers for tonight’s supper ‘Flattened Chicken Breast’ which we are keeping simple, grilled with thick-cut sliced Baked Potatoes and finely sliced Green Beans.

It’s another glorious day here in sunny Manilva, the sky is blue and on the sunny side of the street it’s warm and on the other side crisp! It’s looking fine for the rest of week but possible with some of the wet stuff over the weekend.

I’ve just bought our third Poinsettia, so far, from the charity stall in Calle Mar so our display is starting to take shape; next we will go and pick some of the fresh Pine Firs to go with the Xmas lights; the Xmes decorations are coming down from upstairs and Brenda has started to write the Xmas cards – watch out for yours!

We have just bought another one  from the Charity Ladies, both of whom are our neighbour's as we were walking 'Reina' & 'Chispa'- see the pictures above!

This year we are on our own for a change with just, so far ‘Scruffy’ staying with us for a week over the Xmas holiday! The Turkey is ordered and the Rib of Beef for Boxing Day, the pantry cupboards are full, the De-Lux Crackers are ready, and the wine cellar is starting to fill up, we have plenty of Smoked Salmon to go with the Scrambled (Campo!) Eggs for breakfast! The ‘Heroes’ chocolates box has already been hit so we will have to pick up anther one from ‘Iceland’ We have a Christmas pudding in stock and the finest award winning Mince Pies are looking very tempting!

We are planning to go out for our pre ‘Christmas Lunch’ a week on Sunday down to Sabinillas on the beach front to the “ Sabores ” Restaurant & Tapas Bar,

This afternoon we went for a longer walk.with 'Reina' and 'Scruffy' and ended up again in the 'Plaza De La Vendimia' this time sat in the hot sunshine as the breeze has dropped!

This evening we will after supper catch up with all the news, sport and weather details before finding something to watch.

SUNNY AND HOT MANILVA ON WEDNESDAY;

WEDNESDAY 13th/ NOVEMBER 2013.

Well we are now having the finest Autumn in nearly 50 years, this morning its hot and sunny with just a fine breeze; we have just got back from Marbella as I had an appointment with my ‘Prostrate’ consultant this morning; the good news is that I’ am fine BUT the not so good news is that my ‘PSA’ reading is up a point which meant that I had to have an ‘Internal’ examination – not so good BUT everything was OK! I have to go back in two months time after having more blood & urine tests for another check up – which if it’s OK –fine BUT if its not it means another Biopsy!!

On the way back we did some essential shopping; our first port of call was the ‘La Canada’ shopping mall in Marbella for some night-lights from Habitat’ – then we stopped at a small shopping mall in San Pedro to go to the Xmas card shop, watch out to see if you are on the list! Next it was the ‘English Butchers’ at Gudalmina to pick up some Pork Sausages for when Tim’s here, I feel a ‘Brunch’ coming on!  Finally we stopped at the garage to give the car a quick jet-wash so it’s looking at its best when we pick Tim up on Monday from Gibraltar!!

Last night, to say the least we were rather disappointed as Tom did not show up for his supper with us! No call from him and when I tried to contact him it was rather difficult as he has not got a Spanish phone yet, his house phone is not connected and when I rang Carlos to see if he was with him  - he said that he had gone home over an hour ago! It was a definite arrangement as when he met us over the weekend he practically asked to come for supper, so we arranged it for Tuesday!! Watch this space as its going to take a very good apology and some flowers for Brenda to get back on the guest list after we had gone to the expense and effort to make and  prepare the evening’s feast!!

Tonight for supper I’ am having his meal from last night and Brenda has requested a ‘Cheese Omelet’ – we will have the ‘Albondigas- Meatballs’ tomorrow night which was tonight’s supper.

MANILVA THIS WEEKEND.

FRIDAY/SATURDAY/SUNDAY 22ND/23RD/24TH OCTOBER 2010.

On Friday morning we went to the surgery as we had made an appointment to have our Flu jabs which we now both get as we are pensioners; we then went down to Sabinillas to do the weekend shopping and get some stock to take away with us when we move over to Guadalmina at the start of November.the weather at this time of the year is gorgeous, blue skies, no breeze and by lunchtime it is hot, over the weekend it reached 27degs!We sat outside Bar Rojas for a quick one and took in the tranquility of the village. In the evening we had for dinner some lovely small Lemon Soles which we had picked up from the market; I pan fried them quickly in a foaming Lemon/Parsley Butter sauce and we had New Potatoes and Green vegetables.

After our usual breakfast on a Saturday morning, Poached Eggs on toast we went for a walk with Cheta who is now fully recovered, Brenda left me down at the football stadium as you can see in the report below; in the afternoon Brenda was able to go up on the roof terrace and catch the sun. In the evening we had just prepared our supper, Minute Steak and Chips with sauté Onions and Mushrooms when Brian and Lilli called in with their friend Juan, it was Brian’s day off on a Saturday so he had been watching the football, his team Everton drew with Spurs, Liverpool won for the first time against Blackburn but sadly Carlos’s team Manchester City were beaten the Arsenal! They stopped for a couple of drinks and then left for Bar Rojas so we then had our supper; as we were talking Christmas came up, we have not made any plans just yet as we will have to see nearer the time what Mano and Guerrero clan are up too ! Later we watched a film on Spanish TV, the main channel; TVE1 has no commercial breaks which is good.

We had a little lie in on Sunday morning before we got the roast ready, this week we had Loin of Pork with all the usual vegetables and potatoes and Mano and Anna joined us in the evening; it turns out that they might be going away for a couple of days with their friend Juan and Amelia to Madrid this coming weekend so they have asked us to look after their house and the two dogs and two cats! It just fits in as the following Wednesday is when we move over to Guadalmina. In the early afternoon we went for a walk, it got really hot and we had to sit down half way around! It also means that this was our last roast for six weeks here in the house, when we get back in December it will be time to put up the Christmas decorations! The picture below of the fire station was taken this morning as we were out with Cheta for a walk.

Thought for the Day;

Have a vision. Be demanding.
