A GREY, OVERCAST & COLD SUNNY MANILVA ON THURSDAY.

THURSDAY 16th / MARCH 2017.

We were both up early this morning, I saw ‘Reina’ back with us for the day,  she shot, as usual into her duvet, she’s being collected later this evening, I then took ‘TJ’ out for his first walk of the day, he slept all night in his bed by the side of our bed, then ‘ Scruffy’ arrived for a short stay as Adrian is back at the hospital for a check up, it was then time for breakfast for us and all the dogs staying with us in ‘ Doggy World Heaven’!

Sadly the handyman didn’t arrive yesterday to fix/repair the blocked drains, I’ve just come off the phone after making my feelings known, watch this space. He arrived at lunchtime but has not been able to solve the problem, he's coming back first thing on Friday morning with more workmen as they will have to dig up the downstairs toilet floor to hopefully get at the blocked drain, we are not 'Happy Bunnies ' and have just rung the family solicitors to complain, again, we are now up to our eyes in raw sewage!! (after he left!)  WATCH THIS SPACE !!

PS; Three workmen arrived back and have managed to sort the problem out but are coming back tomorrow morning to complete the job.

This morning has started overcast, grey & cold, there is a stiff breeze but thankfully at the moment it’s staying dry, tomorrow is the same but then over the weekend it’s picking up, again, with warm sunshine and a lot calmer, next week is now looking settled with more of the same, watch this space.

See below the beach & promenade down in Sabinillas this morning as the storm causes more damage to the beach and walls.

For our supper this evening we are having the rest of the “ Chicken & Mushroom ‘Tarragon’ Casserole ”  from last night with a Baked Potato and Garden Peas, Friday evening is ‘ Fish Night ‘ and on Saturday we will be having Grilled Steaks, then on Sunday I’m going to make my famous ‘ Smoked Chicken & Three Green Bean Risotto’ for a change.

The excellent racing coverage from the ‘ Cheltenham Festival ‘ on ITV has been very exciting, with close photo-finishes and favourites being beaten, two more days to go with the climax on Friday when it’s the ‘Gold Cup ‘ – in the ‘Champions League’ football Manchester City lost on the away goals rule to Monaco, who beat them 3-1 after ‘ City’ winning the first leg 5-3! Leicester are the only English club left in the draw, taking place tomorrow, as they beat Sevilla 2-0.( 3-2 agg)

This weekend it’s the climax of the ‘Six Nations Rugby Union Championship’ as England travel to Dublin to play Ireland in the  ‘ Grand Slam ‘ game and at the same time seek a record-breaking 19 th straight victory to beat the New Zealand ‘All Blacks’ record, watch this space!

This evening after supper we will channel hop to find something to watch, there are new series starting again over the next two weeks ‘ Vera ‘ with Brenda Blethyn, which we have not seen before, and  the excellent ‘ Line of Duty ‘ – which we have!

PS; We have just had a postcard from our Swedish friend. Lillemor, letting us know that she will be back here by the end of the month; please keep the postcards coming when you are out & about!

Thoughts for the Day; See above.

SUNNY AND A VERY HOT MANILVA ON SATURDAY

SATURDAY 24th/ AUGUST 2013.

We had a little lie in this morning, well I did as Brenda took Derek out for his walk before it gets too hot; he is no problem, he follows Brenda everywhere and is having a ‘Helluva’ holiday with us dining A La Carte! At the moment Brenda has a brush in her hand and is working her way around the house, I feel a mop and bucket is at any time going to attack me so I have retired to the office!

This morning they are working on ‘Plaza de la Vendimia’ at a furious pace obviously trying to get it ready in time – 7 days and counting! Pictures to follow later.

SPORTS NEWS UPDATE;

At the Oval in London England are struggling against the Aussies with possible rain forecast, well it is a Bank Holiday over in the UK!No play before lunch and a washout for the rest of the day. Later it’s the qualifying for both the Motor GP and Grand Prix which I will catch on the Spanish Sports channel before watching the first stage of the ‘Vuelta 2013’ taking place in Galicia, this year there are 6 flat stages,13 stages and high mountains,1team time-trial and 1 individual time trial stage as they criss-cross Spain! Its on this evening at 7-00pm on TVE1.

The first stage of the 'Vuelta 2013' made a spectacular from the port of Vilanova De Arosa as the team time-trial was started on a glass floating landing stage as you can see in the pictures above; Vincenzo Nibali's 'Astana' won and put Janez Brajkocic into the race leaders RED jersey! Nibali is the favourite to win the tour after winning the 'Giro d'Italia earlier in the season!

Cal Crutchlow from Britain took the pole position at the Motor GP and Lewis Hamilton stole the pole position in the very last seconds from the two Red Bulls with a stupendous drive, stunning and in the wet!

Over the weekend in the football Everton are at home to West Brom,Liverpool are away at Aston Villa and Manchester City are down in Cardiff tomorrow; here in ‘La Liga’tomorrow Malaga host Barcelona and Granada welcome Real Madrid – no pressure there then!! Everton could only manage a draw at home - oh dear Big Bri over in Pori will not be a happy bunny! Liverpool is a late kick off. They won 0-1 with another Sturridge winner!

This evening for a change we are having ‘Escalope of Turkey Breast’ cooked in foaming Lemon Butter with savory Basmati Rice, diced Green Beans and a creamed Mushroom sauce as we have moved our ‘Steak Night’ to Sunday so as Mano can join us after his sleep, its also his day off so we are going to give him the full-works, Steak a la Plancha, sautéed Mushrooms and Onions, finely sliced Green Beans, grilled Tomato and Bell Green Peppers, his favorite, Baked Potato and crisp Chips and on the side ‘Béarnaise sauce’ !!

After we will catch up with all the sports news and then find a film to watch.I found a neo-noir crime drama about card sharks and 'Grifters; called " Shade" from 2003 - with Gabriel Byrne,Stuart Townsend, Thandie Newton,Sylvester Stallone,Melanie Griffiths and Bo Hopkins - you have to pay attention !!
