A DRY & COOL, NOT YET WET, SUNNY MANILVA ON THURSDAY;

THURSDAY 5^th/ MAY 2016.

I was up early to see ‘ Reina’ back with us for the day, she’s now staying with us until later this evening as Lee & Daniela are going to a staff party at work, we then all went back to bed and had a nice long lie in until the delivery vans woke us up later! After breakfast we did the shopping list for tomorrow morning, Brenda is shampooing her hair and later I’m shaving and showering, we managed some more washing yesterday so I brought it in last night before going to bed as the forecast for today and the next few days is not good.

The ‘ Atlantic’ storm did not arrive during the night but is now due to hit us by lunchtime, we are on ‘ Orange’ alert for heavy rain and high winds, its also going a lot cooler, it looks like we are in for the wet weather up to Sunday, at least, watch this space.

For our supper this evening we are having the rest of the ‘ Chicken Curry’ with Basmati Rice & ‘Chips’ – tomorrow night its my famous ‘ Seafood Risotto’ made with Cod, Hake, Salmon, Mussels, Prawns & Gambas; on Saturday we are going to have ‘ Steak & Frits’ and then on Sunday its ‘ Lamb’ TBC.

Last night after supper I tuned into ‘ First Row Sports’ to watch the ‘UEFA Champions League’ second leg semi-final between Real Madrid & Manchester City, I managed to find the ‘BT’ coverage in English with Gary Lineker, what a waste of time as Manchester City played terrible and went out with a whimper, it was boring as their ‘star’ players played like ‘ Sunday League’ second division no hopers! They lost 1-0 but it was the way that they totally gave up the game that was just terrible to watch!! This means that the two ‘Madrid’ teams are in the final at the end of May at the ‘San Siro’ Stadium in Milan , home of both AC Milan & Inter Milan, one interesting fact is that Real Madrid have never won at the Stadium!!

This evening we are going to watch the ‘Europa League’ second leg semi-final as Liverpool welcome Villarreal to Anfield, they lead 1-0 on aggregate, Villarreal play in an all Yellow strip and are known as the ‘Yellow Submarine’ over here!

Yesterday afternoon we watched the ‘Flat Horse Racing’ from Chester, the coverage was as usual very good on ‘Channel 4’ – it was also a very sunny day, for a change, its usually raining or snowing at this time of the year, its on today and tomorrow so we will catch it later.

After watching the football we caught the end of ‘ Master Chef’ on BBC 1 – the final is on Friday, then we found the late film to watch on TVE1 ‘ Non-Stop’ from 2014, its an mystery-action thriller about a ‘Boeing 767’ passenger flight from New York to London with the ‘ Sky Marshall’ played by Liam Neeson, with Julianne Moore, Michelle Dockery ( Downton Abbey!) Lupita Nyong’o & Scott McNally; very exciting as the plot unfolds.

SUNNY AND STILL WARM MANILVA ON TUESDAY

TUESDAY 15^th/ OCTOBER 2013.

We had a little lie in this morning and then after our breakfast we showered and freshened up; it was then time to go for a walk with dog, I stopped at our local bank for some cash, then on the way back we called into the butchers for some things and finally went to the chemists in Calle Mar for some sachets for Brenda’s blood circulation that are not on prescription, they are prescribed by our doctor but for some reason they are not on the list!

We have a quiet week so we are taking things easy and relaxing, the weather forecast for the next seven days is settled with warm sunshine and the temperatures are steady at 25/26degs! The menus for the rest of the week have been sorted; tonight we are having Baked English cut Pork Chops with Glazed Apple slices, Cabbage with Alselgas, diced Carrots and Turnips and ‘Breton style’ Potatoes using diced Onions, Red, Green and Yellow Peppers fried with the boiled diced local Potatoes; them tomorrow I’ am making my now famous ‘Chicken and Mushroom Pie’ For Thursday we have got some homemade Pork Meatballs from the butchers so it will be ‘Albondigas con Tomate’ using my tomato salsa and then on Friday fish!

At lunchtime Mano and Anna called in for a chat and gossip, their electricity is still not back on so they are getting rather up-tight so say the least! I got Mano ready while they were here some Meatballs in my famous Tomato salsa and at the same time I cooked some Chicken wings which I tossed in my secret special BBQ sauce, boxed them and he now has his supper for the next two days as he’s back on nights from tonight! His Thursday supper will be Chicken Pie!!

Tonight its FIFA World Cup Qualifying Football’ Here it’s Spain v Georgia and over at Wembley Stadium England play their bogey team Poland, they must beat them to go forward to Brazil! Brenda will follow the Spain game downstairs on the main TV and shout up the scores whilst I ‘am upstairs in the office watching the England game on the large PC using the sports connection.

Spain 2 Georgia 0 and England 2 Poland 0 so they are both on the plane to Brazil !!

We still reading in the afternoon’s up on the roof terrace as we have our ‘Happy Hour’ with our cocktails and radio music, we must have read nearly all the ‘Patterson’s’ by now!

MANILVA THIS LUNCHTIME

TUESDAY 9^th/ APRIL 2013.

After our early start yesterday we had a nice lie in this morning; we then had our tea and toast, Cheta came crashing in early so we went for a good walk around the village and I took the picture of the children’s play area starting to be erected above the new car park in Plaza Pozo Del Rey; the work on the church which started yesterday has at the moment stopped as they have laid some fresh concrete this morning outside. Meanwhile on the new ‘Plaza Vandimia’ by the wine centre there is some action this morning as they have measured out and staked the walkways – this is the typical council work system – when you have the money – spend it ! Down in Sabinillas there are only 2/3 men at work on the Bank Street development so it’s going to be awhile before it is finished! Watch this space.

We picked up some very nice diced stewing steak from our butcher ready for a large pan of ‘Scouse’tomorrow as hopefully Brenda will be finished at the dentist – we are waiting for the call – this evening I’ am making a Cheese Omelette for her and I’ am having a Minute steak with sautéed Onions and Mushrooms with dry sautéed sliced Baked Potatoes.

It will then be time to watch the second legs of the UEFA Champions League –Quarter finals; Galatasary v Real Madrid is on TVE1 and I will tune into the Bor Dortmund v Malaga game on the sports channel on the large PC in the office; results later.

PS; I'am out of breath from running up and downstairs ! Real Madrid lost 3-2 but won on agg.3-5 - Over in Germany at 90mins is was 1-2 to Malaga - then the Germans scored 2 in injury time to win 3-2 on agg!!! Manolo in Bar Rojas is very happy, Nacho in his bar is not a happy man !!
