THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A OVERCAST, WINDY AND DAMP SUNNY MANILVA;

...

A GREY & OVERCAST, WINDY AND COLDER SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY.

TUESDAY 12TH / FEBRUARY 2019.

We had a good, long lie in this morning, after another not good night’s sleep, I’m still not right and I’m feeling under the weather, still lots of aches & pains in all the joints, no energy and feeling terrible, for the first time ever, I’ve lost my appetite and could not manage supper last night, again, I’m also spending a lot of time in/on the toilet!! Watch this space.

After freshening up we had our light breakfast of just toast & tea, Brenda’s ‘Chicken Soup’ is on the menu for lunch! Lots of water ( bottled) to drink, no alcohol, so the ‘ Nurse’ suggests!

The news on the car is not good also, it didn’t arrive back yesterday afternoon as the ‘Parts Company’ sent the wrong ‘ Starter Motor’ – so it’s ‘Plan B’ today, I had to cancel my appointment to re-new my ‘Spanish Driving Licence’ – I have re-booked for Wednesday evening, at the moment, watch this space.

This morning on the weather front the new is not good also, it’s grey & overcast with black clouds, there is rain in the air, forecast for later, the wind has got up, bringing with it a colder spell, down to 16/17 degs, over the next few days and into the weekend we are in for more of the same, with just sunny spells at times, patchy clouds and colder as the days go on, next week is now looking very unsettled with more of the same weather, the ‘wet-stuff’ could be back also, very un-seasonal! Watch this space.

So it’s a stay at home day, on the settee, wrapped in a blanket, taking the ‘ Tablets’ and being nursed by the live-in ‘ Nurse’ – sadly not in uniform!!

A WARM & STILL ' CRISP' SUNNY MANILVA AT THE START OF THE WEEK.

MONDAY 20th/NOVEMBER 2017.

We had a little lie in this morning as little princess ‘ Reina’ is not back with us until tomorrow, she’s then with us for four days, hopefully, that’s if the folks shift patterns don’t change. After freshening up we had our normal breakfast of ‘ Weetabix’ toast & tea before getting another week on the go down here in sunny Manilva.

I then called Jack & Lyn on the ‘ Skype’ landline to arrange a video hook up, sadly they are still having problems with the ‘ Skype’ video system so we went to ‘ Plan B’ – I called them on the ‘facebook messenger’ video, which worked, so we had a nice catch up with all their news over in a very sunny Australia ( 31degs+)

They are both well and looking forward to Christmas, they have sold their caravan to a neighbour after going away for the last time in it, for four days. We are going to make contact with them again before Xmas, we are starting to make arrangements for all the ‘ Skype’ calls over the festive period, Sandra & Bill over in Everett, Ontario, Canada are already on the list for ‘ Boxing Day’ as they have all the family with them, watch this space.

While we were up in the office/studio we had a call, on our landline, from our dear friend Joyce, from Chester she has just arrived over here at her house in ‘Alhaurin el Grande’ above Malaga, she has not been out for a while, due to the ‘Monarch ‘ airline going bust, there are only a few expensive flights from Manchester at the moment, so we are making contact with her and will meet up for good catch up with all her news & ours!

The week has started warm & sunny, as forecast, but it’s still very crisp in the shade, the rest of the week and over the weekend is staying the same, hovering on the 21 degs mark, next week we could be in for some of the wet stuff as there is a nasty front on the horizon coming in off the Atlantic, watch this space.

See below a picture of the ‘Pier Head’ in Liverpool yesterday with a weekend ‘ Fair’ along the sea-front.

Finally the ‘ Contract’ workmen have arrived in ‘ Calle Mar’ this morning and have started digging up the street by ‘ Bar Castillo ‘ – they have also moved the ‘Portakabin Office’ into the lay-by, all the trees that were left have now been dug up, are the ' Palm Trees ' next?!

See below for the latest pictures as the work commences.

For our supper this evening we are having the rest of ‘Smoked Chicken & Three Green Bean Risotto’ We are having our ‘ Weekly Menu ‘ planning meeting later, watch this space.

NB;  On Tuesday it's going to be ' Grilled Gammon Steaks ' with all the trimmings & twice-cooked ' Chips, then on Wednesday I'm making a ' Chicken & Mushroom Tarragon Pie '

Yesterday the new TV System went off, after trying all the re-connect programmes, with no luck, I remembered that we were on a month’s trail offer, which finished yesterday! Lee is going to arrange, later today, to install the system on a full 3 monthly contract, watch this space.

This meant that last night we were back on ‘Spanish TV’ for the night; after catching up with the Spanish news we then watched a film “ Oblivion “ from 2013, a post-apocalyptic science fiction film, starring Tom Cruise, Morgan Freeman, Andrea Riseborough & Olga Kurylenko. Later I stayed up and watched another Tom Cruise film “ A Few Good Men “ from 1992, with Demi Moore, Jack Nicholson, Kevin Bacon and Kiefer Sutherland, in a American court-martial drama.

“ NEWFLASH –  MAJOR CAR PROBLEM “

This morning Pedro was taking the car across to the ‘ITV – MOT ‘ centre in Estepona, as it was fully booked on Friday, when on the way the engine blew up! He had to call a breakdown wagon and bring it back to the garage, we had heard a strange sound the other day when we were out, the engine is ‘ Kaput’ as he says!! It means that we need a new engine etc, not the right time for the problem to happen, watch this space for the news update.

A WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON WEDNESDAY;

WEDNESDAY 4th/ JANUARY 2017.

No lie in this morning as ‘ Reina’ was being dropped off first thing, she shot into her duvet and we then got ourselves ready, I took ‘ Charlie’ for his walk and then we had breakfast ‘ Smoked Bacon Butties’ with mugs of steaming tea, Brenda then shot off down to the surgery for her appointment with our Doctor, Natalia, for her first check-up/review of the year, meanwhile back in the office/studio I went on the ‘WWW’

Yesterday I confirmed my appointment/review with the ‘ Prostrate Consultant ‘ after my special X-Ray, both in February, across at the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ Hospital in Marbella. Brenda has just returned, her blood readings etc are better, she is still waiting for an appointment with the ‘Kidney Consultant’ for a review, now she’s also going back to see the ‘Heart Consultant’ for a check-up/review with her ‘Arrhythmia’ readings.

With all these appointment’s we need a ‘ Private Secretary ‘ to keep our appointments diary up to date, as well as the bookings in ‘ Doggy World Heaven’! I use a colour coding system!!

Just one major problem now, our local ‘ Chemists ‘ would not give Brenda her prescriptions,  without her lost ‘Green Card’ – our Doctor didn’t give her the right documents, so Brenda set off back to the surgery, walking again, by the time I got to the Chemists she had left, I was very concerned as she should not walk so far again, I got a lift on the back of Juan’s ( Bar Castillo)  scooter to go and make sure she was OK!! She ended up with more documents and we went back to the Chemists again, they were still not the correct forms/details?! Lumy has now taken her back, again, to the surgery, in her car to hopefully sort the problem out, ‘Spanish Bureaucracy ‘ at its worst!! Our Doctor, Natalia’ is adamant that all the paperwork is correct, she has told Brenda to go to another Chemists, so Lumy is going to try over in Estepona, later! Watch this space.

This morning on ‘Castle Radio FM 89.2’ on Andrew Charles ‘Live’ Breakfast Show he played a request for ‘ Sir ‘ Malcolm & ‘ Lady ‘ Brenda up in sunny Manilva, he introduced it with my personal ‘ Fanfare ’ – a track by Beth Hart & Joe Bonamassa, he’s confirmed that I will be back on air ‘ Live’ by the end of the month, with my show, watch this space.

We have another glorious day here in sunny Manilva, the sky is blue, the sun is out and there is no breeze, by this afternoon it will reach 21 degs! The rest of the week and over the weekend is staying the same but a little cooler, watch this space.

This evenings supper is ‘ Grilled Gammon Steaks ‘ with Glazed Fresh Pineapple and then topped with a Fried Egg! Garden Peas & twice-cooked ‘ Frits’- ‘HP’ Brown Sauce on the side. Tomorrow evening we are having ‘ Lob Scouse ‘ that I made last week with Cabbage with Acelgas and Pickled Red Beetroot, a ‘ Fish’ supper is called for on Friday and then on Saturday it’s still ‘ TBC’- watch this space.

Tomorrow evening the ‘ Three Kings ‘ parade is in the village along ‘ Calle Mar’ - after it’s been through Sabinillas and Castillo de la Duquesa – the floats with Balthsar, Melchoir & Gaspar are led by bands, they all throw ‘ Caramelos – Sweets ’ to the children, who catch them in upturned umbrellas!  I collected our traditional ‘ Roscon De Reyes ‘ cake from the  local ‘Bakery’ shop at lunchtime, it contains a small ‘ Figurine’ of the ‘Baby Jesus’  to be blessed and for good luck- see the picture below of our cake. The actual ‘ Dia de Reyes ‘ is on Friday ‘ Epiphany’ Bank Holiday, so I’m going down to Sabinillas on Thursday morning for the weekly shopping.
