A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA & MARBELLA ON WEDNESDAY.

WEDNESDAY 9th/ OCTOBER 2019.

We had a little lie in this morning after a better night’s sleep, ‘Winnie’ slept all night as usual, after freshening up Brenda too her out for her first walk of the day, meanwhile as I was on the breakfast rota, you’ve guessed already, I had a ‘Toasted Crispy Smoked Bacon Butty ‘ smothered in ‘ HP’ Brown sauce, open on brown for Brenda, with sautéed sliced Mushrooms on hers and mine! Mugs of strong/hot tea, set us up for the unexpected day ahead!

We set off along the coast road past a sparkling Mediterranean, with the sun already up and blinding, the sky was bright blue and there was just a very light breeze, as we headed past Marbella to the ‘ Costa Del Sol Hospital’ for Brenda’s appointment with her ‘ Kidney Consultant’- we then hit a major problem, as we arrived ahead of time, this time the main underground car park was full, with over thirty cars waiting, back down the road, to enter, I shot around to the outside main car parks, which were also full, with cars double parked! I came back around to the main entrance to drop Brenda off, where I was very lucky to find a small spot, next to the bus stop, on Yellow lines, after asking one chap to move forward a little, it was in the shade, right opposite the front door! All the road around the Hospital had cars double-parked on Yellow lines/crossings etc, I decided to stay in the car with ‘ Winnie’ in case the local ‘Policia’ came along!

Brenda was very lucky as she went straight in on time, her regular ‘Kidney Consultant ‘ - after giving her a check-over and reviewing her blood test results etc, she gave her the very good news, all her readings are a lot better, she is responding to treatment and she has signed her off, back to our own Doctor, Natalia, after changing just one of her prescription tablets!  “ A GREAT RESULT “

When we retuned we had a nice cool celebration drink, sat outside in the very warm sunshine, in the shade, at ‘ Caferteria Nacho ‘ as the World passed us by, lots of friends came along, catching up with all our news, our old friends Josie, who is back over for a short while, has asked us to join her next Tuesday lunchtime at ‘ Bar Castillo for a late ‘ Wake’ in remembrance of her late husband, Dennis, who died a year ago to the date, sadly after a very nasty illness.

As I said today is another very pleasant day down her on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ – not as forecast, it’s very hot & sunny, by the time we came out of the Hospital up to 28/29 degs+ again! – tomorrow its’ now going a little cooler as the breeze and new front now comes in, off the Atlantic, back down to 22/23 degs – overnight still hovering on the 18 degs mark, for now! Over the weekend, from Friday onwards, there are patchy clouds around and the threat of the ‘ Wet-Stuff’ is in the air, next week is basically staying the same, as the front hangs around, about normal for the time of the year, watch this space.

As usual, as we were getting ready I was listening to the ‘ Andrew Charles Breakfast Show’ on “ Castle Radio FM 89.2 & Online on the WWW”  as the ‘ Music Quiz’ came on, I got it straight away, as he gave a couple of clues, it was ‘Alice Cooper’ with ‘ School’s Out’! I’m in the  winner’s list, for Friday’s draw!

I have now received some pictures from Sandra, that I was not able to publish last week, in a very good quality, due to a system overload, not allowing Bills pictures to be shown. They show our visit, last Friday lunchtime, to the ‘ Restaurante Sarmiento Brasa Andaluza’ up in Casares

See below;

For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Omelette’s of Choice ‘ – ‘Cheese ( Grated Mild Cheddar & Parmesan)  for Brenda, as usual, and ‘ Paysanne ‘  ( diced small and fried Potatoes, Shallots, Smoked Ham & Green Peppers) for me,  with triple-cooked ‘ Frits’! Tomorrow evening, when our friend Andy is joining us, it’s going to my now famous ‘ Chicken & Mushroom Curry’ with Brenda’s equally famous ‘ Basmati Rice!

We are catching up with all the ‘ Quiz Shows’ that we follow, in the afternoon/early evening and then will later channel hop to find something to watch – ‘ Fingers Crossed’ that the ‘IPTV’ system is responding?!

A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON THURSDAY;

THURSDAY 4th/ JUNE 2015.

I was up early to welcome back ‘Reina’for the day just as the workmen returned to the site and commenced to make more noise than normal as they knocked down the wood & steel shuttering from around the concrete; over the next few days they will be starting to erect the next floor.Its shooting up as you can see in the pictures below;

The sun is out and the sky is blue with a little pleasant breeze, it’s going to be another hot one today and over the weekend it’s more of the same, the weather is settling down for the time of year before the really hot stuff hits us in July & August.

We are having a nice calm day at home today just pottering about doing nothing, because we can! No doubt Brenda will find one of her ‘ings’ to do as she doesn’t like taking it easy, she has to be occupied with something!

I’ve read all the newspapers online, the Daily Mail ( sorry Josie) the Daily Mirror, the Daily Post ( North Wales) & ‘El Pais’ the main Spanish newspaper, in English, then the main BBC news, ITV news and the ‘Aljazeera’ news and checked the WWW via Facebook when I send birthday greetings to family and friends both English & Spanish, as well as our E-Mails – we still send birthday cards to as many family and friends as possible because we are old fashioned and like sending them and receiving them!

Meanwhile as we are having our breakfast we check out the three main breakfast/ news programmes on ‘TVE 1 Antenna 3 & Cinco 5’ as well as the local regional station ‘Canal Sur’ from Sevilla; the news on ‘Aljazeera’ TV comes from London and of course Doha, in Qatar, and is very comprehensive. I’m then ready to take on the World and anything that comes along as the day goes on!

Then when I go back up to the office to type and post the Blog on the large PC I listen to some local radio station music online through the speakers (loud) i.e. ‘Castle Radio FM 89.2’

We went for a walk at lunchtime with ' Reina; & Chispa' - I stopped at the Cash Machine and on the way back we bumped into Sally Ann outside Bar Castillo so we had a good chat and gossip and then a cool drink at Bar Rojas taking in the sighs and sounds of sunny Manilva.We also bumped into Mario, who is still our local councilor, so I asked him if he could arrange for the water truck to come and wash down our streets - watch this space on Friday?!

For tonight s supper we are having a ‘Salteado’ with an English touch; its basically a ‘fry up’ of leftover Vegetables & Potatoes, Chorizo etc then topped with ‘Campo’ Fried Eggs that are cracked into it to cook’! The English touch is that I’m griddling some English Pork Sausages to have with it!

This afternoon we will be back on the roof terrace again as the sun moves around for our ‘Happy Hour’ cocktails as we catch up with our reading and listen to some more local radio stations on the FM band; then after supper we watch the news update, sports round up and the weather forecast for the next few day before finding a film to watch.

A VERY HOT AND SUNNY MANILVA & MARBELLA ON WEDNESDAY;

WEDNESDAY 8th/ OCTOBER 2014.

We had plenty of time to get ourselves ready this morning as my appointment was not until 11-40am; we had our usual toast, tea and fresh fruit breakfast, I then walked down to collect the car from the underground car park and collected Brenda from the top of our street outside the Town Hall.

On the way through to the hospital past Marbella we called in Estepona and stopped at our bank so that Brenda could register/copy her passport details on file as required by a new law that the Government has just passed. The sun was out at the crack of dawn and by the time we came out of ‘La Canada’ at lunchtime it was very hot, 28/29degs and rising! The forecast is still the same but there is a possible bit of the wet stuff over the weekend?!

When we got to the ‘ Costa Del Sol Hospital’ we sorted Brenda’s appointment for her three month ‘Heart’ check up and at the same time registered out new Mobile numbers, we will hear from the hospital shortly. Next it was time to go along to see my ‘Prostrate Consultant’ You can tell everything is OK, staright away, as he’s smiling when you go in! My latest test results are fine and my reading is stable, this means that it’s a six month visit again and hopefully after that twelve monthly! Result !!

We then headed to ‘La Canada’ for some ‘retail therapy’! Our first port of call was ‘C & A’ where Brenda found some nice dark Grey slacks, while she was looking I picked up some more Boxer Shorts and spotted a brilliant Purple Shirt on the reduced rack – watch out for the picture, you won’t miss me! Next Brenda headed for ‘Mango’ one of her favorite shops and soon found a startling dark dark Blue top with Silver writing on it “ Overdress” - which just about sums it up!! See the picture above of sunny Marbella this morning.

So we are now back in a very warm and sunny Manilva after another expedition out down her on the ‘Costa Del Sol’ A celebration drink is called for later as we have our ‘Happy Hour’ up on the roof terrace listening to the radio.

Tonight’s supper is ready, it only has to go in the oven “ Braised Steak with Onions and Vegetables” We are having the rest of the ‘Breton’ style Potatoes and Brenda is going to prepare some fresh Cabbage with Alselgas. We will then watch the news,sport and weather updates before finding something to watch.

See the picture below - what Big Bri calls 'Proper Grub'!!
