A CRISP AND SUNNY MANILVA ON THURSDAY;

THURSDAY 11th/ DECEMBER 2014.

I was up with the ‘lark’s this morning, well some sort of small ‘birds’ in the ‘Bougainville around the corner! Little princess ‘Reina’ was due early for the day and immediately shot up into her duvet on our bed; we had a little turn-over lie in before our breakfast.

After shaving & showering, Brenda had hers yesterday morning, we shot out with ‘Reina’ and ‘Chispa’to go along to the chemists for some tablets for me and then down to the butchers for something for tonight’s supper; so we are having some lovely fresh, healthy ‘Calves Liver’ with English Pork Sausages, crispy Smoked Bacon, sautéed Onions and Potatoes (Baked & cut thick!) with finely sliced Green Beans.

The weather today is as forecast with clear blue skies and the sun out, it’s a little crisp and only reaching 16degs today, we can’t complain! Over the weekend by Sunday there could be a little bit of the wet stuff around and its getting a little colder even for December.

We have now finalized all our bookings in ‘Doggy World Heaven’ over the Xmas period; this weekend we have ‘Scruffy’ on a three day sleep over from Friday and ‘Reina’ is here for a Saturday night sleep over; then next week ‘Reina’ is with us on Tuesday, Thursday & Friday while ‘Scruffy’ is with us on Wednesday & Thursday before he joins us for his ‘Xmas holiday’ a week on Sunday for 7 nights!

The following week (Christmas) ‘Reina’ is here on the Tuesday and then Christmas Day for a short while, she is also coming to us for New Years Eve night as Daniela has a ‘Gig’ singing in one of the bars in Duquesa Marina!

Yesterday we received a ‘Surrealist’ Xmas post card from the ‘Queen and her Consort’ from up north in Skelton, it’s in the ‘Denasty’ style?! - and is now on the peg board in my office. Thanks!!

Tomorrow morning we have one of our big shopping days as we are going to the ‘Chinese Bazaar’ then ‘Mercadona’ before the ‘English Butchers’ in Duquesa and then shooting along to ‘Iceland’ in Sotogrande, on the way back we will call into ‘Super Sol’!!

This evening after supper we will catch up with all the news, sport and weather forecasts before channel hopping.

STILL BREEZY AND WARM IN SUNNY MANILVA AT THE START OF THE WEEKEND;

FRIDAY 16th/ MAY 2014.

We shot down to Sabinillas for our regular weekend shopping after a quick breakfast, no flowers from the local market needed so I called into the bank, then we picked up the papers and did a small shop in the supermarket; after un-packing back at home I went around to the butchers for our Saturday night ‘Steak a al Plancha’ – the dog has come calling early this morning so Brenda is going for a short walk with her.

After sorting out the WWW I; am going to get tonight’s supper ready; we are treating ourselves to ‘Goujons of Hake Fillet’ using fresh breadcrumbs, I’am making some Tartar sauce to go with them and small diced chips! Mushy peas of course and lots of Lemon wedges!

The picture above shows Jack with their car and caravan leaving Eden on the first part of their adventure, it has just come in via Facebook; More to follow – take care and drive on the left?!

'Scruffy' arrived at lunchtime as you can see in the pictures above; he's only here for today and is going back tomorrow,he brings his bed and case with him! He's back next week on Tuesday and Wednesday just for the day! So it's not a 'Stop- Over!'

This afternoon I received an E-Mail from Gillian over in Torquay to say that she is flying in on Monday morning at short notice and would we be able to pick her up from from Marbella Bus Station - she is coming over as she is giving up her small rented house - so we will find out more when we see her as we collect her!!

We are watching a lot of tennis at the moment, especially Brenda who likes it – I have not been able to get a good enough ‘IT’ connection on the large PC to watch the ‘Giro D’Italia’ this year at the moment – last year it was on the ‘TDP’ sports channel but sadly not this year?!

Last nights film was “ Fire with Fire ” from 2012 – an all-action vigilante movie with Josh Duhamel,Rosario Dawson and Bruce Willis being Bruce Willis!

WARM AND SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY;

SATURDAY 12th/ APRIL 2014.

Just a little lie in this morning after a late night as we ended up watching a late programme after the film; the film was a strange story based on an actual event that happened on the Texas/Mexico border called “ The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada ” from 2005 and starring Tommy Lee Jones being himself Dwight Yoakam,Julio Cedillo, Barry Pepper and January Jones – as it finishened I happened to go to TVE1 and the final episode of “ The Tudors” from 2007 was just starting so we had to watch it! Jonathan Rhys Meyers as the King and Joely Richardson as the Queen starred in this final part of the history.

At the moment I’ am watching the on the smaller PC ‘BBC TVs’ – ‘The Breakfast Show’ before ‘Saturday Morning Kitchen’ – live. Meanwhile the assistant chef is downstairs preparing the ingredients for a fresh batch of my famous ‘ Ensalidilla Rusa’- ‘Russian Salad’ which I’ am going to make later. Tonight we are having for supper after we come back from the official opening party of the ‘Plaza Pozo de Rey’ our normal Saturday night ‘Steak a la Plancha’ with sautéed mushrooms along with finely sliced Green Beans and twice-cooked ‘Frits’ One topped with a fried Campo Egg and the other with deep-fried Garlic buds!

It’s a busy sports weekend here, in England and over in the USA; the “ Americas Motor GP” in Austin Texas is tomorrow. In the ‘La Liga’ today its Granada v Barcelona and Real Madrid v Almeria and tomorrow Getafe v Atletico Madrid. Then in the ‘Premiere League’ today its Sunderland v Everton and then tomorrow it’s the ‘Match of the Season’ as Liverpool welcome Manchester City in what could be the deciding game as to who wins the championship! Everton won 1-0 and are now 4th in the league!

This evening Real Madrid won 4-0 but Barcelona lost at lowly Granada 0-1 - they played terrible including Messi for the second game in a row!!

Last night it was the Holy Mass in the Santa Ana Church followed by the presentations of the programmes and music for ‘Semana Santa 2014’ – we did not make it this year so the pictures above were taken by the Mayor Antonia and the council photographer – thanks! See Above.

SUNNY AND WARM MANILVA ON SATURDAY;

SATURDAY 9th/ NOVEMBER 2013
.

I got up early this morning so as I could log-in to BBCTV1 on the smaller PC so I can watch ‘Saturday Morning Kitchen’ – it’s on earlier as the ‘Lord Mayor Parade’ from London is on later; Brenda has just made ‘Poached Campo Eggs on toast for breakfast to set us up for the day. Later this morning I will get ready our supper for tonight – ‘Steak au Poivre’ with finely sliced Green Beans and crisp twice-cooked Chips, the main job is crushing the whole Black Peppercorns!

The weather forecast is very good for the weekend and into next week, getting warmer with clear Blue skies; this morning Andy is bringing ‘Charlie’ around in his cage which is on a stand, we put it in the lounge so he can see the TV and watch everything going on, he talks away at different times of the day and we try to teach him some new words! Then this afternoon we are taking Andy over to the airport in Malaga in his car, which we are going to look after and then pick him up next Saturday evening.The drive there and back was spectacular along the coast road by the deep Blue Med !

Last night we caught the repeat of Monday’s “ La Voz – The Voice ” which we missed, Anna’s friend, Lydia from Lanzarote was on this episode and went through again to the next round, she has a ‘Helluva’voice and stage presence – watch this space.

The Friday film was “ Twisted” from 2004 – a murder/crime thriller with a surprise ending starring Ashley Judd, Andy Garcia and Samuel L Jackson.

This weekend is a big sports extravaganza; Brenda is watching the tennis on TDP as the semi-finals are sorted out, with Federer v Del Potro;over here in Valencia it’s the final round of the ‘MotorGP’ as the World Championship will be decided between Lorenzo and the young pretender Marquez who has just taken the pole position for tomorrows race.

 Meanwhile back in England there are both styles of Rugby taking place, the World Cup in Rugby League see’s England taking on the Fijians and in the Autumn Internationals of the Rugby Union England welcome the Argentina’s while Wales play South Africa.England 31 Argentina 12 and England 43 Fiji 12 - Wales play later;sadly they lost 15-24 to a very strong South African side.

Finally to football, Liverpool v Fulham and Crystal Palace v Everton are the main games today and over here Real Madrid v Real Sociedad.Liverpool won 4-00 but Everton could only manage a 0-0 draw but over here Real Madrid won 5-1 with Ronaldo scoring his 23rd hat-trick for the club!

Later after supper we will watch the sports high lights from around Europe and then find a film to follow.
