A VERY ' FRESH' & SUNNY MANILVA ON THURSDAY.

THURSDAY 24th/ JANUARY 2019.

We overslept this morning  and so our day is a little behind, to say the least, after a quick freshen up we noticed that Lyn was trying to make contact from Melbourne, so we then spoke to Jack & Lyn on the ‘ Skype’ video, they are both looking very well and our staying inside, with the air conditioning on full-blast as the temperatures over in Australia are at a all-time high, 29 degs+ overnight and reaching 41 degs+ during the day!

The great news is that they have just received in this morning’s post the ‘Christmas Cards’ that were posted on the 30th November 2018! Over the past few weeks they have seen a lot of their extended family both on Jacks & Lyn’s side, meaning lots of ‘Great Grandchildren’ running around! We had a good catch up with all their news, Jack has been given a good report from his ‘Heart’ Consultant, with a six month review, Lyn is in fine health, she had just had her hair cut short.

We then had a late toast & tea as we sorted the shopping list out for tomorrow morning when I’m out on my travels down to Sabinillas for the weekly shopping. Brenda then popped along to the local Chemists in ‘Calle Mar’ for the rest of our prescription tablets as well as a little shopping.

Today it’s looking a lot better, but still very cold & ‘Fresh’ – the sky is clear and blue, with no clouds, the sun is out and there is a light breeze blowing down from the mountains behind the village, for a change, by lunchtime it due to reach 18/19 degs, tomorrow even warmer, but still going down overnight to 8 degs! – over the weekend it’s staying dry & sunny, but going a little cooler, next week is looking settled, dry & sunny, with patchy clouds at times, hovering in the mid ‘ teens’ – still very cold  in the shade, watch this space.

Bill, Malcolm & Tim !!!

For our supper this evening we are having our favourite ‘ Pan – Fried Chicken Wings’ -  well seasoned and then cooked in their own juices until crisp & brown all over, they need to be turned on all sides and well-cooked, Brenda likes to hand-pick at hers and I take mine off the bone! Served with some finely sliced ‘ Fresh’ Green Beans and a Baked Potatoes, that are “ Microwaved “ by the ‘ Second/Vegetable Chef’ to perfection, another one of her specialities!

We are taking things very easy today, keeping as warm as possible, relaxing and basically doing nothing, it’s even more quiet with no dogs for company with us in ‘ Doggy World Heaven’ at the moment, ‘Chispa’ is in & out to see us all the time, later we will watch all the ‘ Quiz Shows ‘ that we follow and then channel hop to find something to watch.

Sandra, Brenda & Thea !!!

A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA WITH A ' LEVANTE' BREEZE BLOWING,ON THURSDAY.

THURSDAY 9th/ AUGUST 2018.

NB; Don’t forget to go back to yesterday’s ‘Blog’ as you start to read today’s, as I add pictures & comments all the time!

We all had a nice lie in this morning, in fact I woke ‘Maisie’ up! She’s was fast asleep on her bath towel at the foot of the bed, we then got ourselves ready to go out for the first walk of the day, with no water, it’s off from 8-30 am until 2-30 pm, there were notices all around the village and on the ‘ Council’ web-page!

When we returned I treated us to my now famous ‘ Toasted Crispy Smoked Bacon Butties’ – smothered in ‘ HP’ Brown sauce, open on brown for Brenda, with mugs of hot, strong tea, at the same time we got ready the shopping list for tomorrow morning when I’m out on my travels down to Sabinillas for the weekly shopping, braving the holiday hordes and traffic!

As we set off on our walk with ‘ Maisie’ – down the shady side of the street, there was a very welcoming stiff  ‘Levante’ breeze blowing up from the Mediterranean, overnight it was still very hot & clammy, it makes it very pleasant to have fresh air blowing through your hair, for a change! Today it’s still very hot & sunny, by lunchtime it’s due to reach 32 degs+ - tomorrow and over the weekend it’s more of the same, getting hotter at times, Next week we are in for another ‘ hot one’ to say the least, hovering in the mid 30s during the day and in the mid 20s at night, watch this space.

PS; The new ‘ Mosaic Mural ‘ in the Plaza de la Vendemia is progressing,  this morning it’s now nearly finished, using a different adhesive, I spoke to one of the lady designers yesterday evening and congratulated her on the new design, it’s ‘fingers crossed’ this time that it stays up, the very hot & dry weather dosn’t help, along with very heavy rain storms & winds at times, as well the children kicking footballs at it! ( Ball Games are not banned in the square!)

Nearly finished !

She also confirmed that the ‘ Mosaic Mural’ behind the grape crushing pit, of the three ‘ Caballero’s’  is going to be repaired at the same time, as some of the tiles are damaged also, the good news is that it’s not changing, so I’m still  ‘ Immortalized ‘ for all time! – Along with Mario & Diego!!

                                                                                                         The original picture.

                                                                                                 And the original Murals !

This evening we are going along to ‘Bar Castillo’ for our hopefully ‘pre-ordered’ Tapas’ supper, of “ Rosada Frito & Patatas Fritas “  as its’ the ‘ Head Chef & his Staff ‘ night-off! On Friday we will be having a ‘ Fish Night’ again and then on Saturday it’s back to our ‘Steak Night ‘ – Sunday is still TBC, watch this space.
