A VERY WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY.

SATURDAY 26^th/ AUGUST 2017.

We had a little lie in this morning as the village is very quiet, no deliveries, no church bells and no children out playing, we are having a easy weekend, doing nothing, we are not going down to the ‘ Feria’ in Sabinillas, it means that the village is dead, especially in the evening.

‘Chispa’ has been in to see us this morning, yesterday when Lee & Daniela collected ‘ Reina’ they popped in and reset the ‘ Amazon Fire TV Stick’ system, I now know how to sort it out on the computer in the office/studio, ‘Reina’ is back with us in ‘ Doggy World Heaven’ for three days from Wednesday next week, it’s a ‘ Bank Holiday in Gibraltar on Monday, so they don’t work.

For our breakfast this morning I had ‘Crispy Smoked Bacon & ‘ Campo’ Fried Eggs’ with buttered toast & tea, Brenda had a ‘ Crispy Smoked Bacon’ on Brown toast, see my breakfast below!

This evening we are having ‘ Grilled Fillet Steaks ‘ cooked on a very hot griddle plate ‘ Med-Rare’ – then left to rest, garnished with seared Asparagus Spears & Button Mushrooms and ‘ French Fried’ Onion rings ( Milk & Flour) with the classic ‘ Bearnaise’ sauce on the side, Whole Green Beans and of course twice-cooked ‘ Chips’ 

Tomorrow evening it’s going to ‘ Baked English Pork Chops ‘ with all the trimmings.

The sun was out early this morning but it’s still a little cloudy and overcast, as forecast, tomorrow it’s the same, hovering on the 30 degs mark, then on Monday we are in a for a ‘ Cold Snap’ - by our standards, down to 24/25 degs, 19 overnight, with some of the wet stuff hitting us, by Thursday we are getting back to normal for the time of the year, just in time for the ‘ Vendimia Wine Festival’ next weekend here in the village, reaching 28/29 degs & rising, watch this space.

A busy weekend of sport; over here in ‘ La Liga’ Barcelona travel to Alaves, Real Madrid are at home to Valencia, in the ‘ Premier League’ in the UK, the early kick-off is down in Bournemouth when they welcome Manchester City, tomorrow Everton travel down to Chelsea and Arsenal come up to play Liverpool! The ‘ Grand Prix’ is at Spa in Belgium after returning from the summer break, meanwhile today’s Stage 8 of the ‘ Vuelta a Espana 17 ‘ goes from Hellin to Xorret de Cati over 199 kms, a medium mountain stage with a nasty sting in the tail, see the route map below.

Yesterdays stage ended in ‘Cuenca’ – a  “ Unesco World Heritage Site “ -  it’s a more substantial town than we thought, it’s famous for it’s well preserved ‘ Casa Colgades – Hanging Houses ‘ – our very dear friends from Canada, Sandra & Bill, are staying there, in a loft apartment, for one night on their way across to Valencia after leaving Madrid, in the last week of September, see the pictures above taken off the TV screen!

Last night after supper we channel hopped and later over on ‘ BBC Four’ we caught a live performance from the Reading Festival by ‘ Kasabian’ – it was a ‘Helluva’ concert, the sound of the singers and the band was excellent and the backing lighting effects were spectacular, I’ve seen them before, they are one of the top – ‘live’ concert groups in the country, catch them if you can!

A CRISP & STILL SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY;

SATURDAY 21^st/ NOVEMBER 2015.

After a quick breakfast we shot down to Sabinillas for some shopping, the transfers to our new bank accounts have still not arrived so we did just a small shop and will catch up next week. The sun is out and the sky is blue but its a little cooler, as forecast, as the Artic front from Norway hits us over the weekend.

We are having a quiet weekend at home taking things easy as next week we are out and about again; on Monday I will chase up the bank and also I’m calling into our local garage for Pedro to fit a new radio in the ‘Ferrari –Red Fiesta’ On Thursday I’m at the surgery for my blood tests to be ready for my  yearly appointment with the ‘Prostrate’ consultant at the start of December over at the hospital in Marbella. Then next Sunday we are going across to the celebrity restaurant in Puerto Banus ‘La Sala’ for Sunday lunch as its our 44^th wedding anniversary!

In ‘Doggy World Heaven’ Reina’ is here on Tuesday & Thursday and ‘Scruffy’ is with us for the day on Tuesday; ‘Barny’ is now back with us for a long weekend at the start of December before he’s here for his Xmas holidays!

This weekend on the sports front over here its the ‘Clasico’ as Real Madrid welcome Barcelona in ‘La Liga’ – meanwhile over in the ‘Premiere League’ over in the UK Everton welcome Aston Villa and in the late kick off its the ‘Match of the Day’ as Manchester City welcome Liverpool! Brenda will be watching this afternoon the tennis from the ’02 Arena’

For our supper this evening we are having ‘Entrecote Steak’ cooked ‘Med-Rare’ on a very hot griddle plate with sautéed Baby Mushrooms, whole Green Beans and some twice-cooked ‘Frits’- then tomorrow we are roasting a Chicken with all the trimmings and lots of vegetables for our first ‘Sunday Roast’ in a while!

Last night we channel hopped on English TV as we watched ‘TFI’ on Chanel 4, then on BBC 2 ‘Great Continental Railway Journeys’ in Germany followed by ‘QI’ and finally on BBC 1 ‘The Graham Norton Show’ with Tom Hanks!

PS; I'm also working on me second radio show on 'Castle Radio FM 89.2' just in case I'm asked back

A STILL WARM AND SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY;

SATURDAY 20^th/ SEPTEMBER 2014.

No lie in this morning as we needed to catch the gas bottle man to exchange our bottle; we have had our breakfast of toast, tea and fresh fruit, I start with a ‘Weetabix’ its fine today, warm & sunny and tomorrow

in fact it’s reaching 31degs over the weekend, but the depression is being forced in from the Atlantic by Monday and the wet stuff in threatening, the rest of Spain has severe rain storms and floods already. which is a shame as we are planning again to go on our shopping trip over to Marbella and out to lunch later at ‘La Sala’ in Puerto Banus!

Little princess ‘Reina’is arriving after lunch for her sleep over as Lee & Daniela are away for the night celebrating Lee’s birthday; ‘Chispa’ is calling in every morning and evening as normal expecting to see one of her new found friends, ‘Scruffy’ is due back with us shortly, we are waiting to hear when?! Doggy World Heaven is missing him!

Later this morning after I have finished posting the Blog,at the moment I’m watching the ‘BBC TV’ Breakfast News live on the smaller PC then ‘Saturday Kitchen Live’- I’m going to make a fresh batch of my famous ‘Tomato Salsa’ before getting tonight’s supper ready, ‘Steak a la Plancha’with sautéed baby Mushrooms, finely sliced Green Beans and lots of twice-cooked Frits, Brenda likes deep-fried Garlic Buds and no doubt I will sneak a ‘Campo’ fried Egg on the top of mine!

Lots of sport over the weekend to catch up with, today over in Singapore it’s the qualifying for the night time ‘Grand Prix’meanwhile over in England in the ‘Premier League’ its West Ham v Liverpool and tomorrow Everton v Crystal Palace and Manchester City welcome Chelsea. Over here in ‘La Liga’today ‘Deportivo De La Coruna’ welcome Real Madrid and then tomorrow Levante welcome Barcelona.

Real Madrid won 2-8 and Ronaldo scored his 23rd hat trick for the club!!

Last night we watched a Denzel Washington film that we had seen before as over this weekend there are lots of his films on various channels as he is over here at the moment to receive an honoree award at the ‘San Sebastian Film Festival’ which was on live last night!

MANILVA THIS WEEKEND.

SATURDAY 2^nd/ MARCH  2013

This morning Andy and Marie joined us for breakfast as Andy was going to help me fix some problems on both PCs; the weather is still cool, in fact it is the coldest spell at this time of the year all over Spain with the temperatures down on average by 6/7 degs –here in sunny Manilva we are a lot better off than the rest of the country as the sun is still around but into next week we have rain forecast. For breakfast we had Campo Eggs, crisp Smoked Bacon, Button Mushroom on fried Bread and ‘Hongroise’ Potatoes, from dinner last night topped with Chorizo – all served with piping hot tea and buttered toast! The ‘Hongroise’ Potatoes were diced cooked new potatoes cooked with diced Onion and Red Peppers and then tossed in sweet Paprika. I’ am now back up to date on the PCs – its full steam ahead! This afternoon I will watch the Premier League over in England and then this evening its Real Madrid v Barcelona which we will watch on the TV if it’s on or we can catch it on the large PC; well Everton had a good win at home and in the late game Liverpool won away at Wigan 0-4 with Suarez scoring a hat-trick! Over here Real Madrid beat Barcelona 2-1, for the second time this week and are now 13 points behind in 'La Liga' -  Steak and Chips for supper with Button Mushrooms and sliced Green Beans. Last night we caught a very good, compelling film “ We Own the Night ”from 2007 – it is a crime drama based in New York,hense the title which was the motto of the ‘NYPD Street Crime Unit’ It stars Joaquin Phoenix. Eve Mendes, Robert Duval and Mark Wahlberg and a cameo part played by Ed Koch who at the time that the movie was made was the Mayor of New York! Catch it – it’s a ‘Goody’
