A VERY HOT AND SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY;

SATURDAY 14^th/ JUNE 2014.

Well it was the phone ringing downstairs that got us up this morning for a change; it was Mano calling to say that he could not pick us up today to go and sort the new mobile phones out down in Sabinillas so it’s going to be at the start of next week. As forecast the sun is out and it’s already warm and it’s going to get hotter just like yesterday, which was very hot with no breeze – 38 degs is forecast!

I took Scruffy out for his early morning walk first, he is being picked up later this morning, then we all had our breakfast before I went up to the office to watch on the small PC BBC TV ‘Breakfast News’ followed by ‘Saturday Morning Kitchen’ live at the same time as I’ am typing the Blog – as you can see!

'SMK' is on early as next it's the " Trooping of the Colour "from the 'Horse Guards Parade' in London on the Queens official birthday.

Meanwhile downstairs in the kitchen the assistant/commis chef is preparing the ingredients for a bowl of my now famous ‘Ensaladilla Rusa’ which I will make later and also then get tonight’s supper ready; we are having ‘Steak a la Plancha’ with sautéed Mushrooms & Onion rings, finely sliced Green Beans, twice-cooked ‘Frits’ and a Tomato salad with griddled Asparagus spears – Brenda’s with fried Garlic buds and mine of course topped with a fried ‘Campo’ Egg!  See the pictures above,

Tomorrow at lunchtime we are going to walk down to ‘Bar las Vinas’( ex Morenas Bar) to try out their Tapas and Paella as Angela is now cooking there, she used to be at ‘Bar Rojas’ with Lumy for many years and the new people running the bar used to run ‘Bar Rojas’ before Manuel and Lumy when we first arrived here in sunny Manilva over 7 years ago!

Then in the evening we are picking Gillian up from the Bus Station over in Marbella after she flies into Malaga to come and finalize the handing over of her house.

It’s a very big sports weekend with of course the ‘Match of the Day’ over in Brazil at the ‘World Cup Football’

when at midnight here England play Italy ( Sorry to the ‘Queen of Skelton’ who does not follow the game!) At the moment in Dunedin over in New Zealand in an International Rugby Union game England are beating the ‘All Blacks’ in the second test 0-10 at the start of the game! Later in Durban in South Africa Wales take on the South African’s –come on the boys in Red! The 'Boks' were too good for Wales and won 38-16.

Final score New Zealand 28 England 27 - one 'Helluva' game - so near but so far!

Half time score 1-1 in the England v Italy game - all to play for. ENGLAND 1 - ITALY 2 Final score!

Over here up in Barcelona it’s the Motor GP at the ‘Circuit de Cataluna’ – will Marquez win ? On the Tennis front on grass both Nadel and Murray have been beaten in their warm-up games before Wimbledon later in the month.

WARM AND SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY;

SATURDAY 10^th/ MAY 2014.

No lie in this morning as we have lots to do to get ready for tomorrows ‘Sunday Roast’ – the Trifles are being prepared, the Lobster & Crab have to be opened and I‘ve got to go down to the butchers to pick up the ‘Lamb’- and I’ am also making a fresh bowl of ‘Ensaladilla Rusa’ later after the assistant/commis chef has prepared the ingredients! Oh and yes the ‘Steak a la Plancha’ need trimming/seasoning, the finely sliced Green Beans, sliced and the Baked Potatoes cooked for tonight’s supper!!

Meanwhile at the moment I’ am up in the office typing the Blog, as you can see on the large PC and watching the ‘BBC TV 1 Breakfast Show’ before ‘Saturday Morning Kitchen’ is on; one ‘Newsflash’ on Facebook this morning, David has just announced that the ‘New Moon Pub Company’ have acquired their 6^th site, where to be announced at a later date!

On 'SMK' one of the dish's today is 'Shoulder of Lamb' cooked on 'Boulangere Potatoes' !! 

All the sports main sports action is happening tomorrow, over in England it’s the final games in the ‘Premiere League’ as Manchester City welcome West Ham needing just one point to claim the title, Liverpool welcome Newcastle with just a small chance and Everton visit Hull; Here in ‘La Liga’ with two games to go Atletico Madrid travel down here to play Malaga,Elche welcome Barcelona and Real Madrid are at Celta De Vigo.

Also up in Barcelona over the weekend it’s the ‘Spanish Grand Prix’ and most importantly down here in sunny Manilva in Sabinillas today there is a ‘Scooter Rally’ – picture later! Thanks to Gary from the 'Resident' newspaper.

PS; Cycling is back you will be sorry to hear! The ‘Giro D’Italia’ started yesterday over in Belfast?!- With a team time trial in which Dan Martin crashed in the rain and is out for the tour! Also in the ladies ‘Tour of Britain’ Laura Trott crashed in a stage but is OK for today’s stage! Later last night I caught the highlights of the ‘Tour of Turkey’ Mark Cavendish won three stage sprints,came second in two and third in one! Turkey looked spectacular along the coast and up in the mountains before entering Istanbul.

We had the choice of three films to watch, “ Strike Back’ from 2011, “ John Carter’ from 2012 and the one we choose “ Haywire” from 2011 with unusually a female all action/martial arts lady that does all her own stunts ‘Gina Carano’! Michael Fassbender, Michael Douglas,Ewan McGregor,Bill Paxton and a ‘bearded’ Antonio Bandares.

PS; Tonight it's the 'Eurovision Song Contest' from Copenhagen with a 'Bearded Lady' from Austria !!
