A VERY, VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY.

SUNDAY 18^th/ AUGUST 2019.  “ GRAN FIESTA DEL AGUA “

We all managed a nice lie in this morning, ‘ Chico’ goes to bed on the marble floor under our bed and sleeps all night, after freshening up Brenda took him for his first walk of the day, ’Pucci’ is now arriving tomorrow lunchtime, for his weeks holiday, little ‘ Miss Bella’ is with us earlier on Monday morning and again on Tuesday, as usual ‘ Chispa’ is in & out all the time.

For our breakfast I was treated to Brenda’s famous ‘ Campo’ Poached Eggs on Toast – Scrambled for Brenda, with mugs of hot/strong Tea, as yesterday I was out & about on my travels. Brenda is pottering and I have retired upstairs to the office/studio to go on the ‘WWW’ and then type/post today’s Blog.

We are in for a ‘ Hot-One’ today, the sun was out early and there is just a slight breeze, the sky is bright blue, so by lunchtime it’s due to reach 34 degs+ . tomorrow, at the start of next week, is looking the same, then on Tuesday it’s dropping a little, down to 32 degs+ - then as the breeze stiffens it’s going down to the mid/high 20s for the rest of the week, with even the possibility of some of the ‘ Wet-Stuff’ on Wednesday/Thursday, on one of the forecasts, still overnight hovering on the 20 degs+ mark, watch this space.

Yesterday over in Liverpool another cruise liner was berthed at the Pier Head, on a sunny day, sadly the name of it can’t be seen, see below!

Just a quick update on the sports results from yesterday; England lost to Wales 13-6 down in Cardiff, Real Madrid won 1-3 in their first ‘La Liga’ game, over in the UK – Everton won 1-0 at home, Liverpool won 1-2 playing away and Manchester City drew at home 2-2 and were denied a winning goal, in the last few minutes ( by Var!)

This evening along in ‘ Calle Mar’  down the steep street next to ‘ Bar Castillo’ there is a 50 metre water slide, ( no sign off yet ?!)  as well as other water games along the main street, for the “ Gran Fiesta Del Agua – Water Day “  here in sunny Manilva. Watch this space.

For our supper this evening we are having “ Chicken Empanadas “ (Mercadona ) – flattened ‘ Chicken Breast ‘ coated in savoury breadcrumbs, then shallow fried in Vegetable Oil, until crisp & golden ( Lots of Lemon Wedges)  - served on a pool of Tomato sauce, accompanied  with some finely sliced ‘French’ Green Beans and Baby New Potatoes in their skins.

After supper we will settle down to watch the next gripping episode of “ Poldark’ as he plans & plots to get his best friend out of prison, in London, meanwhile down in Cornwall the peasants are revolting!!

A STILL OVERCAST BUT VERY WARM & NOW SUNNY MANIVA ON SUNDAY.

SUNDAY 26^th/ AUGUST 2018.

 

We managed another nice long lie in this morning as the church bells didn’t start ringing until later, Brenda grabbed a quick shower and is then after breakfast washing/shampooing her hair, I’m showering later, we then had our light breakfast of ‘ Weetabix’ fresh fruit, toast & tea, before getting the day on the go.

I’m now up in the office/studio on the ‘WWW’ checking the E-Mails, Facebook messages etc, catching up with all the overnight news/sport and reading the online newspapers that I follow, checking the various weather reports at the same time, I then prepare today’s Blog by writing notes, downloading pictures etc, at the same time listening to ‘ Castle Radio FM 89.2 & Online on the WWW’ via the second screen, the Blog is typed on ‘Microsoft Word ‘ – then ‘proof-read’ by Brenda, saved & copied and then posted onto my ‘Blog Control Page’ to be posted!

This morning the sun broke through earlier but it’s now a little gray & overcast, as a light breeze has blown in the clouds, by lunchtime, no doubt, it will be warm & sunny, yesterday it ended up very hot & close with no air, even the locals were complaining, it’s due to reach 31 degs+ today - overnight 23 degs, next week is starting to settle down, with more of the same, partly cloudy at times, but still hovering in the low 30s, with just a very slight possibility of the ‘ wet-stuff’ over the ‘Vendemia Wine festival’ weekend, very unusual for the time of the year, watch this space.

All along the news ‘ Calle Mar ‘ most of the house’s/buildings have been re-painted/updated White, after the ‘Council’ did the Town Hall, making it the ‘ White House’ – it looks like it will all be finished by Friday just in time for the big weekend of celebrations!

Just a quick update on the sports results; Everton gave away a 0-2 lead to draw 2-2, Liverpool went top of the ‘Premier League’ with a 1-0 win, meanwhile over on a terrible pitch Barcelona won 1-0. Lewis Hamilton beat rival Vettel to a sensational pole position in a thrilling chaotic race in the rain, on his final lap of qualifying for the ‘Belgian Grand Prix’

At the start of ‘La Vuelta 2018’ the Australian rider Rohan Dennis claimed the leader’s ‘ Red Jersey’ as he won the Time Trail, his speciality, going into today’s ‘Stage 2’ from Marbella to the ‘Caminito Del Ray’ over 163 kms with a climb to the finish, see below.

At lunchtime I will be marinating the ‘ Spanish Chuleta’s – Lamb Cutlets ‘ in a marinade of Virgin Olive Oil, Mixed Herbs with Tarragon & Lemon Juice, to ‘ Flash-Grill ‘ this evening on a very hot griddle-plate, garnished with seared Button Mushrooms and served with a small selection of Brenda’s favourite, local, fresh Vegetables and my famous ‘ Rissoles Potatoes’ – boiled & diced new potatoes tossed in foaming ‘Parsley Butter’ until crisp & brown all over, not forgetting the special ‘ Mint Sauce’ made with Malt Vinegar & Sugar!

Yesterday afternoon/evening I was using the new ‘ IPTV’ system for the first time, it has over 3,000 channels, including all the live sport, films etc, as well as the all the ‘English’ terrestrial/regional channels, we are very impressed, so far, especially as it costs only 50 Euros per year! Watch this space.

A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY.

TUESDAY 6^th/ JUNE 2017.

                                             

Well we managed a little lie in this morning as ‘ Reina’ is not with us in ‘ Doggy World Heaven’ as Daniela is not very well and stayed at home with her, we are waiting to hear when she will be back with us, ‘ Chispa’ has been in already this morning, she come all the time.

We have just taken a booking from a lady, Helen, that we looked after her dog for a couple of years ago ‘ Scooby ‘ – he’s joining us for ten days at the end of the month as she is going on holiday.

Tomorrow morning I will be up very early as I have my appointment with our Doctor, Natalia, down at the surgery, before her regular appointments, for my results/review/check up, watch this space.

After our breakfast of ‘ Sausage Butties ‘ & tea we have been on the ‘ Skype’ video to Jack & Lyn over in Melbourne and then spoken to Norah & Jenny on the phone over in England, we have had a bit of excitement as this morning a long lost forgotten ‘Cousin’ of the ‘ Fitch’ family, Ernie, had made contact with us on Facebook, and the extended family over in Australia,  a very nice surprise. Watch this space.

This comes after even more exciting news, that Brenda had a couple of months ago, from a very dear family friend that now lives in Canada, she made contact by ‘Facebook Messenger’ and then by letter, we have been speaking to her over the past few weeks, yesterday she came back on Facebook Messanger to let us know that she is coming to Spain on September 24^th ( My birthday!)- arriving in Madrid from Toronto, and is here for two weeks, with her partner, and has booked a room at the “ Manilva Green Apartment Hotel’ at the start of October, for a week, we can’t wait to meet Sandra & Bill and have a good old catch up and show them around the ‘ Costa Del Sol & Andalucia’  Watch this space.

Today we are in for another ‘hot one’ – the sun was out early and the sky is clear, the ‘ Lavente ‘ breeze has dropped and by lunchtime it will be hot, 31 degs and rising, over the next few days it’s going hotter each day, the weekend is also going to be very warm and next week we are in for more of the same, watch this space. This evening for our supper we keeping things simple, ‘ Cold Smoked Ham ‘ with ‘ Campo’ Fried Eggs, Finely sliced Green Beans & twice-cooked ‘ Chips’ – HP Brown sauce on the side!

This afternoon Mario Jnr is coming for his English Speaking Lesson with us, only two more weeks to his Exam in Malaga before the ‘ Cambridge Board’ Over the weekend the 'Basket Ball' team from Manilva, that Mario plays in, won another Cup/Gold Medal, they are the Regional Champions.

This evening we will channel hop and find something to watch, last night we found a film on the ‘ Kodi’ film channel, but it was rather strange, to say the least, it showed a meeting in a old warehouse to purchase guns, it all went ballistic and in the end everybody on both sides were shot dead by one another?!
