Just a nice lie in this morning before the
Church bells started ringing, calling the ‘ Faithful’ to Mass, after freshening
up we had our light breakfast of fresh fruit ( peeled/sliced Nectarines &
Figs for Brenda) toast & tea, at the start of ‘Week 14’ in “ LOCKDOWN” here
in sunny Manilva.
The sun broke through first thing this
morning and the clouds have cleared and the sky is blue, as there is still a
stiff breeze coming up off the Mediterranean, with rough seas forecast for
later, when the coast will be on ‘Yellow’ alert, by lunchtime it’s going to
reach 26/27 degs+ - overnight down to 15/16 degs+ - next week is now looking sunny,
with patchy clouds at times, with lots of warm sunshine, hovering in the mid ‘Teens’
– 27/28 degs+ - by next weekend when we will be out & about celebrating
Brenda’s birthday, up to 29/30 degs+! The following week is going to be a ‘
hot-one’ – staying in the low 30s, watch this space.
At lunchtime we are going along to ‘Bar
Castillo’ for a nice cool drink, sat outside in the shade, as well as having a
light ‘ Tapas’ lunch, with their ‘Paella’ on the menu, I will also pop along to
the local Bank in ‘Calle Mar’ for some cash from the machine before calling
into the “ Rotisserie “ to collect our ‘ Roast Chicken’ for this evening
supper, which we are having with a selection of Mixed Salads, ‘Campo’ Egg Mayonnaise,
Beetroot salad etc, as well as my classic
‘ Pommes de Terre Rissolee ‘ – Baby New Potatoes, boiled & peeled,
then tossed in foaming Parsley Butter until crisp & golden.
“ CORANAVIRUS UPDATE – COVID 19 PANDEMIC “
Just one more week to go in ‘ LOCKDOWN’ as
at midnight next Sunday the 21st June the ‘ State of Alarm’ will
come to an end and all the limits on the mobility of citizens will be lifted!
From this date the regulations approved in
the decree, setting out the ‘ New Normality’ will come into force, which
includes the continued use of face masks, when social distancing of 1.5 meters
cannot be observed, with fines of 100 Euros for those who do not respect the requirement!
All hygiene measures remain in force, no
more restrictions on mobility – as travel between regions will then be
possible, the regional governments will be able to establish their own rules, as
all sports and other activities can re-start, with conditions, but Spain is
taking a more conservative approach to allowing foreign tourists to enter, without
observing a two-week quarantine, as the borders will not open, for non-EU
countries, until at least the 1st July!
The Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, this
morning signed the order/documents, announcing the reopening of the borders
with European countries of the ‘ Schengen’ area , starting next Sunday, the 21st
June, with the exception of Portugal, which will not re-open until the 1st
July!! Watch this space.
This weekend the ‘La Liga’ restarted; as
Barcelona beat Mallorca – 0-4 and moved 5 points clear of Real Madrid, who play
Eibar this evening in Madrid, meanwhile over in the UK, the ‘Premiere League’ returns
next weekend as Everton welcome Liverpool next Sunday and Manchester City are
at home to Burnley on Monday. All with no supporters in the grounds and with
strict ‘ Covid 19 ‘ rules in place!
Next week it’s ‘Royal Ascot’ – which is
being covered by the excellent ‘ITV’ racing team – led by Francesca Cumani, the
daughter of the dual Derby-winning trainer Luca Cumani - all taking place behind closed doors!
