As we were freshening up and getting ourselves
ready for another day in ‘LOCKDOWN’ here in sunny Manilva, as usual, we were
listening to the ‘Lockdown Party’ show on ‘ Castle Radio FM 89.2 & Online
on the WWW’ as the ‘ Mystery Voice’ quiz came on, it was the comedian ‘ Romash
Ranganathan ‘ – which was correct, so I’m in the draw, again!
For our breakfast this morning we had fresh
fruit, peeled & sliced Nectarines ( Brenda!) with toast, Brown sliced for
Brenda & White sliced for me, with mugs of hot/strong ‘PG Tips Tea, to set
us up for the day ahead.
Brenda then popped along to the Chemists in
‘Calle Mar’ for our prescription tablets, calling on the way back to our local
shop for some essentials ( bottled water) etc.
This morning has started rather ‘ fresh’ as
there is a stiff breeze blowing up from the Mediterranean, the sun was out
early and the sky is blue with patchy clouds passing by, it’s forecast to reach
26/27 degs+ by lunchtime, down to 17/18 degs+ overnight, tomorrow it’s going to
be the same and then on Thursday and over the weekend it’s going a little
cooler as the breeze stiffens, hovering in the low mid/low ‘ Teens’ – next week
is looking more settled, as the breeze drops, with lots of hot sunshine, with
just a few patchy clouds at times, going warmer each day, by next weekend up to
30 degs+ - about right for the time of the year and just in time for Brenda’s
birthday on the 22nd June! Watch this space.
Over in Liverpool this morning they had a
red sky start to the day over the Pier Head and along the River Mersey, as you
can see below.
Yesterday evening on our walk we bumped
into Mano & Anna, sat outside ‘ Bar Rojas Sol Vida’ having a beer &
coffee, they asked us to join them, so we had a nice chat and catch up with
them, for the first in a long time, as they don’t socialise much in the village
now!
The ‘Spanish Health Ministry’ announced on
Monday evening, the lowest number of new coronavirus cases since March 5th
– before the ‘ State of Alarm’ was declared on March 14th!
The ‘ Manilva Council’ have just published
the details for using the facilities for bathing on the beaches, which are now
open from yesterday, see below;
For our supper this evening, for a change,
we are having an old classic that we used to serve in the Bar/Lounge of the ‘
Hotel Seventy Degrees’ – above Colwyn Bay, back in the 70/80s – ‘ Steak
Sandwiches ‘ – slices of ‘ Entrecote Steak’- seasoned with Sea Salt & Black
Pepper, smeared with ‘Dijon Mustard’ – flashed across a very hot griddle-plate –
served between sliced toasted/buttered White bread, cut into a triangle!
Garnished with Coz Lettuce and sliced Tomato, with Baskets of ‘ once-cooked
frozen ‘ Stringfellows’!
Another old classic that we served was the
famous ‘ Club Sandwich’ – sliced/poached, cold Chicken Breast, crispy Bacon, Coz
Lettuce & sliced Tomato and sliced Egg Mayonnaise, layered between three
toasted slices of White bread, cut into quarters and held together by cocktail
sticks!
NB; The last time I had one was when we were
out with our dear friend from Chester ‘ Joyce Baby’ - a couple of years ago, at the celebrity
restaurant in Marbella – “ La Sala “ ‘ Happy Days & Memories ‘
Last night after supper we settled down to
watch a repeat of the first series of the award winning ‘ Broadchurch’ – which we
havn’t seen, starring David Tennant & Olivia Colman, as local Detectives,
in a nondescript coastal town, investigating the murder of a young boy, with an
ensemble cast, including Jodie Whittaker and the actress/writer of ‘ Killing
Eve’ – Phoebe Walter-Bridges in a later series!
“ STAY SAFE
AND WELL INSIDE AT ALL TIMES “
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
