SATURDAY 14th/ MARCH 2020.
We had a nice, long, lie in this morning
after a week of early starts, after freshening up Brenda took ‘ Lolo’ out for
his first walk of the day, he’s due to be collected on Monday, when she returned
I was treated to her famous/perfect ‘ Campo Poached Eggs on Toast ‘ – Boiled for
her with Brown Toast fingers, with our usual mugs of hot/steaming tea to start
the day in the right direction.
I then shot down to the new ‘ White Goods’
shop next to the ‘Office Bar ‘ as Brenda had spotted a wash bowl, which we
needed for the sink, on the way back I called into the new supermarket ‘ Suma’
for a pack of ‘Benjamin’s of Cava Codorniu’ and some ‘Magnums Classic – Choc Ices
‘ – as a ‘ treat’ in these difficult times!
This morning, after another beautiful ‘Red
Sky’ sunset yesterday evening, the sky is clearing slowly and the breeze has
dropped, so by lunchtime it will be warm & sunny, reaching 20 degs+ -
overnight down to 11/12degs+ - tomorrow is at the moment still looking settled,
as the very windy, wet and cold ‘Atlantic’ front is due to hit us overnight, from
Monday the overall temperatures are dropping, down to the low/mid ‘ Teens’ –
hovering on the 15/16 degs mark, overnight 8/9 degs, as the breeze stiffens, by
Tuesday/Wednesday up to ‘gale-force’ winds - on ‘ Yellow Alert’ with heavy rain storms, for
the rest of the week and over next weekend! Watch this space.
From tomorrow we are in total lockdown in
the village, with no ‘Bars/Shops’ open, the parks & beaches are closed,
only our local ‘ Chemists’ open, as well as all the already cancelations/closures
of the schools, sports facilities etc, offices/meetings, called off and the ‘
Semana Santa’ celebrations cancelled.
For our supper this evening we are having a
large ‘ Chuleton de Boeuf – Rib of Beef on the bone ‘ – grilled on a very hot
griddle-plate ‘ Med-Rare’ – then left to rest – before taking it off the bone
and slicing it into fingers ‘ French’ style – garnished with seared ‘ Asparagus
Spears & Button Mushrooms and accompanied with a classic ‘ Bearnaise’ sauce,
served with whole Baby ‘ French’ Green Beans and the classic triple-cooked ‘ Pont Neuf’ chips – thick-cut ‘
Doorsteps’ – see below!
It’s going to be a lot of – ‘at home time’
for now, taking things very easy, relaxing and staying healthy, walking a
little with the dogs, to keep as fit as possible, taking all the prescription tablets
etc, as usual eating well and drinking a little! We are staying local, in our ‘
Darby & Joan’ mode- a married couple content to share a quiet life of
mutual devotion!!
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
