A RATHER DAMP & COLD SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY.

TUESDAY 24th/ MARCH 2020.     “ STATE OF ALARM DAY 10 “

Well we over slept again this morning, which is becoming to be normal, so our day is starting a little behind the times all ready! After freshening up we had our usual toast & tea.

Overnight we had another heavy rain storm, which by this morning had passed over, the sky is very cloudy and its grey & overcast with a light breeze, still dry but with more of the ‘Wet-Stuff’ to come back later, yesterday afternoon the sun actually broke through for a few hours, by this afternoon it’s forecast to reach 17/18 degs+ - overnight down to 11/12 degs+ -  with more of the same tomorrow, going a lot cooler as the breeze picks up, then from Thursday we are in for the return of the sunshine, staying partly cloudy but dry, hovering in the mid ‘ teens’ – back to cold & wet on Sunday, next week is now looking very unsettled, starting rather cold, wet & windy, again, then settling down towards the end of next week, hovering in the high ‘ teens’ – 18/19 degs+ - watch this space.

“ CORONAVIRUS UPDATE – COVID 19 “

Our very dear friend Leah called in at lunchtime to pick up our shopping list/bags, as she was going down to Sabinillas to ‘ Mercadona & Super Sol’ – it’s very kind of her, as she has enough problems of her own to contend with at the moment, looking after her son Deemy, at home, as she is self-employed, so she in now not able to work in Gibraltar, as it’s gone into ‘ Lockdown’ over the weekend, giving her problems with the future of his schooling etc!

PS, She has just dropped off all our shopping !  " THANKS "

Yesterday we managed to make contact with Jenny, her landline is not accepting our calls, so we made contact on the ‘ Skype’ audio line by calling her on her mobile number, she is fine but now on ‘ lockdown’ due to her health conditions ( 12 weeks!) - even before the new rules came into force, over in the ‘UK’ later in the day!

One problem that has occurred with us, is that our landline phone is out of action, it’s ringing but we can’t hear anything, the callers can hear us, also we can’t call out on it at the same time, as we have no dialing tone,  I sent an ‘E-Mail’ to our new ‘ IT/Phone’ company “ OliveNet “ and they called me back straight away and did all the line tests, it turns out that our phone has broken down, but the lines are fine, we can’t get a new phone, as of course, the shops are closed?! Watch this space.

Here in Spain  the ‘Coronavirus’ is now spreading further and faster than in Italy, due to the large geographical dispersion that took place in the days prior to the introduction of the isolation, so the government have now closed all the Airports/Ports, as well as now enforcing all the lockdown rules to the letter, with all of the three police forces out, as well as the Army!

In sunny Manila at 8-00 pm each evening we now have a musical interlude, started by one of our local Councillors, who is in charge of ‘Festivities’ -  ‘ Daniel’ who lives in ‘Calle Cuartel’- at the top of the village, along with all his neighbours, they now come out on all their balconies and sing and play instruments of all sorts, as well as clapping along to all the songs, all the village is now joining in, us as well!( with my Whistle!)

This evening for our supper we are having ‘Pan-Seared Lambs Liver’ – dusted in seasoned flour and ‘ flash-cooked’ on a very hot griddle-plate, served with crispy Smoked Bacon, accompanied with a sauceboat of a rich ‘Red Wine, Onion & Shallot Gravy’ – with glazed Carrot Batons & finely sliced ‘ French’ Green Beans and the classic ‘ Pommes de Terre Rissolee ‘ – Baby New Boiled Potatoes, tossed in foaming Parsley Butter until crisp & golden! ( See below )

“ STAY SAFE AND SOUND INSIDE AT ALL TIMES “

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
