We had a nice lie in this morning, ‘ Chico’
slept all night, as usual, on the marble floor before Brenda took him out for
his first walk of the day around the bottom of the village, meanwhile as I was
on the breakfast rota I prepared a ‘Toasted Crispy Smoked Bacon Butty’ –
smothered in ‘HP’ Brown sauce, for me and open on brown toast, with sliced Baby
Mushrooms for Brenda, cooked in the Bacon fat/juices, some of which made it
into my ‘ Butty’ also! – with mugs of strong tea.
The morning started grey & overcast
with black storm and rain clouds in the distance, as you can see in the pictures,
but by later lunchtime it was warm & sunny, very pleasant, with a light
breeze, making it very nice to be out & about on the ‘ Costa Del Sol ‘ again!
The ‘Wet-Stuff’ missed us again, next week forecast is looking dry and settled,
warm & sunny, reaching back up to 29/30 degs by Wednesday, over next
weekend when the folks arrive, hovering in the mid 20s, the following week on
all the forecasts is looking dry, warm & sunny, with a few patchy clouds
hanging around, overall hovering on the 24/25 degs mark, overnight dropping to
18/19degs, just about perfect for the time of the year, watch this space.
It was then time for a change, to slowly freshen
up and get ready to go out on our travels, down to Sabinillas to find a restaurant
for next Sunday ( 29th) for when Sandra & Bill arrive with all their
grown up children (6)! They fly in overnight from Montreal to Malaga, arriving
at around 9-35 am, the key for the Villa is not available until 4-00 pm ish!
“ Countdown 8 Days “
We first made sure that the ‘Rose and
Thistle Pub’ next to the English Butchers, above and behind the ‘ Puerto de la
Duquesa Marina’ - was open for a ‘Sunday
Roast Lunch’ later, as we were celebrating my birthday!
See below the Marina!
We then carried on down to the promenade at
the top end of Sabinillas and checked out two ‘ Fish Restaurants’ – both with open ‘ BBQ Pits’ on the beach, to
see if they were open next Sunday and see their menus, ‘ Bar Playa & Restaurante
Marymar’ – next we went along the promenade to a small square near the far-end
to ‘La Casita’ – a very popular ‘ Tapas ‘
Restaurante, before finally calling into ’Chiringuito Ramos’ ( BBQ Pit also!) on the beach front, next to the promenade at
the very far-end, where the Friday market takes place, in everyone we were
warmly greeted, they are all open on Sunday 29th, - we choose one and stayed for a nice drink!
See the pictures above, will tell you which
one later!! ( See below )
I was then time to come back to the ‘Rose
and Thistle Pub’ where we had a table sat outside, in the now warm sunshine, our
drinks arrived and we chose from the Menu, I had an ‘Open Deconstructed Prawn
Cocktail’ – Brenda ate all the salad!
For our main course Brenda chose the ‘
Roast Leg of Lamb’ and I had the ‘ Roast Topside of Beef’ – both came ‘ thick-cut’
with on both the plates, Yorkshire Pudding, Mashed & Roast Potatoes & a
savoury Stuffing ball, the Vegetables were Broccoli & Cauliflower with
Carrot & Parsnip Batons, a sauceboat of Gravy on the side, everything was
very tasty & succulent,, the vegetables ‘ Al dente’ and the service
attentive, the ‘thick-cut’ meats are not too our liking, but overall a nice
experience.

When we returned it was time for a little ‘
Siesta’ – later we caught the final episode of “ Peaky Blinders ‘ – as all the
family demons came back to haunt poor Tommy ( Cillian Murphy ) – his young
cousin attempting a take-over, his elder sister resigning, a insider traitor
killed, a ‘ Ghost’ from his past, that he thought that he had killed – reappearing,
his young brother, high on drugs, giving his assassination plans away, the
assassin shot, as well as one of his old friends, finally he walked into the
distance with a gun to his head, as he had found out that his mother and grandfather
had committed suicide- did he pull the trigger, we will have to wait to see if
there is another series?!
PS; We have booked a table (10) for lunch
on Sunday 29th September at the “ Chiringuito Ramos “ at 2-00 pm, on
the front terrace, on the beach, overlooking the Mediterranean, across the mountains
behind Estepona, Marbella & Malaga and down to Africa & Gibraltar, they
serve an large ‘elective’ Menu, with some dishes cooked on the open wood BBQ ! Watch
this space.
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
