A BEAUTIFUL WARM & SUNNY THURSDAY IN MANILVA.

THURSDAY 6th/ JUNE 2019.   “ D-DAY 1944 “

I was up early this morning and after a quick freshen up I shot off across to the ‘Estepona Hospital ‘ for my final appointment at the ‘ Physiotherapy Department’ this week, I’m back next week for four days, from Monday to Thursday, I found a good spot to park, right next to the Hospital and my usual tostado & tea in ‘Tikitapi’ before crossing to the Hospital.

‘Encarni’ – the ‘ Head Physio’ looks after me, I dip my left hand in the warm wax bath, five times, then wrap it in paper towels and then my towel, it stays on for 20 minutes, next she gives me a severe massage/manipulation, three of my fingers are a lot better and the other two are improving all the time, I then finally do all the stretch exercises/pressure presses etc! Watch this space.

Back at the house Brenda took both the dogs out for their first walk of the day, ‘Lolo’ slept all night on ‘Reina’s duvet, ‘Scoobie’ went on the rugs in front of the window, this morning he joined us on the bed for his first cuddle of the day, we slowly introduced them to one another yesterday afternoon, they are getting on very well and have now settled down, despite ‘Lolo’ wanting to play all the time, ‘ Scoobie’ is very easy going, they are both eating all they are given ( different food & times!) Watch this space.

It’s another glorious day down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ – the sun was out first thing and the sky is cloudless and bright blue, there is a very light breeze, keeping it perfect to be out & about, by lunchtime it will reach 26 degs+ - overnight back down to 16/17 degs, tomorrow a little warmer, staying the same over the weekend, next week we are in for another similar time, warm & sunny, with a few patchy clouds, going hotter as the breeze drops, by next weekend back up to the high 20s, watch this space.

Tomorrow morning I’m out on my travels, back down to Sabinillas, for the weekly shopping, we put the shopping list together this morning, as usual, hopefully ‘ ItZabar’ will be open after his holidays, it’s then ‘ Mercadona and the English Butchers’ – followed by flowers/plants from the local market, I also have to call into the main ‘ Medical Centre’ to make an appointment for Brenda, with our Doctor, Natalia, for a review/check up, next week some time!

See below two spectacular pictures of the “ Liver Birds “ on top of the ‘ Royal Liver Building’ in Liverpool down at the Pier Head. The ‘Liver Bird’ has been a symbol of the city for over 800 years, it originated in 1207, when King John granted a ‘ Royal Charter’ The ‘ Liver Building’ was opened in 1911, and was the home of the ‘ Royal Liver Assurance’ group.

The two birds are named ‘ Bella & Bertie’ –  18 feet tall - the legend is that the male one is looking inland to see if the ‘Pubs’ are open, the female is looking out to sea, to see if there are any handsome sailors coming up the river! Another legend is that every time a ‘ virgin’ walks across the Pier Head the ‘ Liver Birds’ flap their wings!! Finally, if one of the ‘ Birds’ was to fly away, the city of Liverpool would cease to exist!

They are mythical creatures, similar to Cormorants, the branch of laver seaweed in the beak is a ‘ Pun’ on the name ‘ Liverpool’ Not a lot of people know that – they do now!

At lunchtime we went along to ' Bar Castillo ' with the dogs, for a nice cool drink, sat in the shade as it's gone very hot & sultry, next to us were two English couples, from Manchester ( one a Manchester Utd supporter!) - so we had a nice chat and gossip about the village, one of the couples has an appartment down in Sabinillas, nice to meet all of you!

This evening for our supper we are having the rest of the ‘ Chuletas de Cordero ‘ as they were very tasty, with the different Vegetables & Potatoes, tomorrow evening it will be a ‘ Fish Supper’ – then on Saturday it’s ‘ Steak Night’ –  on Sunday we will not be ‘ Roasting’ – so it’s still TBC, watch this space.

This evening after supper we will watch football, for a change, it’s the Semi-Finals of the “ UEFA Nations League “ – taking place in Portugal, last night Portugal beat Switzerland 3-1 with a hat-trick by Ronaldo, this evening England play the Netherlands, this afternoon we will watch the ‘ Open Tennis ‘ from Paris, as it reaches the quarter/semi final stages, yesterday play was washed out, as the Clay courts are not covered!

Thoughts for the Day ; See above.
