A VERY HOT AND SUNNY MANILVA ON WEDNESDAY;

WEDNESDAY 3^rd/ SEPTEMBER 2014.

A nice lie in this morning as we have a dog-free day here in ‘Doggy World Heaven’- that is until ‘Chispa’ came crashing in as we got up; we open the front door first and check the day out, she was waiting, earlier than usual and so joined us for breakfast, which she loves, Brown toast with butter and a slice of York Ham – ‘Continental Breakfast’ – Doggy style!

We then had a nice leisurely shower and freshen up before ticking off another day in sunny Manilva; the council are working in Calle Mar, this morning they are putting the lights up, later this week by Friday the stages will go up and the locals will start building their own family ‘Sonbrajos’ outside the houses.

Tonight’s supper is grilled ‘Gammon Steak’ topped with a slice of seared fresh Pineapple for Brenda and you’ve guessed, a Campo fried Egg on mine!  Twice-cooked ‘Frits and Garden Peas mixed with sliced Baby Carrots ‘A La Flamende’ style with of course a bottle of ‘HP’ sauce just out of the fridge on the table!

Today’s stage 11 of ‘La Vuelta’ goes from Pamplona to ‘Santuario De San Miguel De Aralar’ See the ‘weather’ map below; yesterday’s Time Trial’ was rather exciting as Alberto Contador claimed the leaders ‘Red Jersey’ after Quintana crashed into road barriers and went over his handlebars! Chris Froome lost some time as well and is now over a minute behind.

Last night we channel hopped and watched nothing in particular; later a caught on ‘TVE 2’ a live recording from the 49th ‘Heineken Jazzaldia Festival’ taking place in Donostia outside San Sebastian; “ Dee Dee Bridgewater ” belted out a blues/fusion set with a small but very good backing band of drums,bass,trumpet,sax and a very good ‘Hammond’( my favorite!) Organ player!

Then on the local ‘Canal Sur’ channel I caught the American TV series “ Damages” from 2007/2012 which is a legal thriller set in New York and starring Glen Close and Ross Byrne, the series has a huge cast and features various stars from episode to episode; Ted Dansen,William Hurt,Lili Tomlin and Ryan Phillippe to name just a few!
