A WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY DESPITE THE ' SEA MIST'

SATURDAY 28th/ OCTOBER 2017.

We all had a little lie in this morning before ‘ Charlie’ jumped on the bed to let us know that it was time to go out for the first walk of the day, they both slept all night, ‘Charlie’ downstairs, wherever he wants and ‘ Lolo ‘ on his bed by the side of us. Later we are planning to go for a long walk with them around the sports ground.

When we returned we had breakfast, a treat this morning, of ‘English Pork Sausage’ Butties smothered in ‘ HP ‘Brown sauce – as usual, open on Brown for Brenda, I cooked the sausages last night, then after a quick ‘ flash’ in the Microwave ( yes we do have one and use it !) I slice them in halve & make the toasted butty, with mugs of strong ‘ PG Tips’ tea!

This morning stared a little grey & overcast, but it’s now cleared and the sun has broken through, by lunchtime it’s due to reach 22/23 degs, the same tomorrow and Monday but now on Tuesday there is some of the wet stuff  has appeared on the forecast, still in the mid 20s, so it will be warm! By next Friday it will be back to normal for the time of the year, warm & sunny in the mid 20s, watch this space.

See below a picture taken by a neighbour down our street with our house on the left – ‘Flower Street '

PS; Just now, as we were watering the wall plants, a sea mist has covered the village, it’s grey, overcast and cool, watch this space.

At the moment we are having some problems with our ‘ Internet ‘ connections, it keeps going off & then back on, which means that the new TV system is not loading, I’ve tried all the re-connection procedures, with no luck, so hopefully Lee is going to call in later this morning to see if he can solve the problem, watch this space.

PS; Lee called in and has fixed the problem, with lots of re-setting of passwords, upgrading the system, and finally the classic ' un-plug ' and re-connect!

For our supper this evening we are having a large ‘ Grilled Entrecote Steak’ cooked on a very hot griddle plate ‘ Med-Rare ‘ and then left to rest, before slicing it into ‘ fingers’ French style, garnished with Asparagus spears & Button Mushrooms, finely sliced Green Beans on the side and of course twice-cooked ‘ Pont Neuf’ Chips ( door steps!) – all served with Dijon Mustard & ‘ Bearnaise’ sauce.

On Sunday it’s going to be ‘ Roast Top Side of Beef ‘ with all the trimmings. Lee & Daniela are joining us for supper, again, thanks for all Lee's help.

On the sports front this weekend, it’s the ‘ Grand Prix of Mexico ‘ when Lewis Hamilton could be crowned the Champion, depending on results, over in the ‘ Premier League ‘ Liverpool are at home to Huddersfield and Manchester City travel down the M6 to play West Brom, over here in ‘ La Liga ‘ Barcelona travel across to Athletic Bilbao and Real Madrid are due to play Girona ( in Catalonia ) depending on the Independence crisis! Watch this space.

This evening we will have to wait and see if the new system is back online, if not we are back to the all the Spanish TV Channels searching for a good film to watch.( in English!)

PS, The gas bottle delivery man has just called and exchanged the bottle, all our neighbours had theirs out also, he came along the bottom of the street and confirmed that he will be calling as usual while ‘ Calle Mar ‘ is closed!

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A VERY SUNNY MANILVA.

..

A VERY WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEKEND.

FRIDAY 27th/ OCTOBER 2017.

We were both up very early this morning and took both the dogs out for their first walk of the day, ‘Lolo’ slept in his bed by the side of our and ‘ Charlie’ spent the night downstairs on the settees, as usual, they are both fine together, Charlie has settled in, ‘Lolo ‘ is eating everything and ‘Charlie’ eats when he want’s to.

I then set off on my travels down through the vine fields as a beautiful ‘ red sky ‘ was breaking through, above the ‘ Mediterranean ‘ - the sun was out early and the sky is already bright blue, there is just a slight breeze, it’s another glorious day down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol ‘ – by lunchtime it’s forecast to be 25+ degs, inland in Seville it’s going to be 32/33 degs, over the weekend we are in for more of the same and next week is also looking very good, warm & sunny, a little cooler at night, see the forecast below.

I had my usual toast & tea in ‘ Itzabar’ before doing the main shop in ‘ Mercadona’ – I then called into the ‘ Chinese Bazaar ‘ for new collar for ‘ Chispa’ – next I went along to the ‘ English Bookshop ‘ for the local English newspapers, I also bought some special ‘Xmas’ cards. I was then time to go down to ‘ Puerto de la Duquesa’ to the ‘ English Butchers’ where I bought a joint of ‘Top-Side of Beef’ for our Sunday ‘Roast’ I also bought Homemade Pork Sausages, Gammon Steaks, White Toasting Bread, Malt Vinegar, HP Brown sauce and Goose Fat! Finally I came back to Sabinillas and went to the far end of the promenade to the local market for the fresh flowers and some wall plants, it was then time to shoot back up the hill to the house to unload, I came through the back streets up to the house and had to reverse back down, to go to the garage to park the car.

See below a different view of the Church looking across the ‘ Plaza Pozo de Rey’ in the centre of the village.

At lunchtime we popped along to the Chemists for some of our prescription tablets and on the way back we stopped at ' Bar Castillo ' for a cool drink sat in the very warm sunshine.

This evening for our supper we are having ‘Pan-Seared Fillets of Turbot – Rodaballo ‘ dusted in seasoned flour and shallow fried in foaming Lime Butter, with Garden Peas and Parsley New Baby Potatoes in their skins, tomorrow night it’s a large ‘Grilled Entrecote Steak’ with all the trimmings and then on Sunday, you’ve guessed, it’s ‘ Roast Top-Side of Beef ‘ with Yorkshire Pudding and a large selection of fresh local vegetables and of course ‘ Goose Fat ‘ Roast Potatoes.

Last night we called Sandra on the ‘ Skype’ video to wish her and sing ‘ Happy Birthday ‘ – her ‘Personal Executive Chef’- as you can see below, was preparing her ‘ Birthday Supper ‘ that she had requested, a ‘ Rack of Lamb’ with a ‘ Shallot & Rosemary ‘ sauce with crispy ‘cubed’ Potatoes and Garden Peas. She had had a nice day in work when all her colleagues has spoilt her, she has also opened more ‘ Birthday ‘ cards than normal, see below, from her new found ‘ Family ‘ all over the World!

This evening after supper we will settle down and ‘ Channel ‘ hop with our new selection of over 500 channels and find something to watch.

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM SUNNY MANILVA;

...

A WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON WEDNESDAY.

WEDNESDAY 25th/ OCTOBER 2017.

I was up early. Again, this morning to see ‘Reina’ back with us for the day, as usual she shot into her duvet and we then all had a little lie in,  ‘Lolo’ is very good and sleeps all night on his bed by the side of our bed, they both get on with one another, ‘Reina’ is back next week ( TBC ) & ‘ Charlie’ arrives for his long weekend break tomorrow evening. Brenda took ‘ Lolo’ for his first walk of the day around the lower part of the village.

We then had our normal breakfast of ‘ Weetabix’ toast & tea, we are waiting for the gas-bottle delivery man to call to exchange our bottle, the problem is that now that ‘Calle Mar’ is closed, how will he get to us?!  Watch this space.

This morning the sun was out early and the sky is bright blue, there is a little breeze, making it very pleasant, for the time of the year, by lunchtime it will be 22/23 degs, overnight its hovering on the 16/17 degs, over the next few days and into the weekend we are in for more of same, possibly a little hotter on Saturday & Sunday, next week is now looking settled, but starting to get a little cooler, 20/21 degs during the day, 14/15 degs at night, normal for the time of the year, watch this space.

See below a picture taken over the weekend of the  ‘Princess Dock’ in Liverpool, at night.

At lunchtime we went along to ' Bar Ocaña' for a cool drink & 'Tapas' - we sat next to two people that we had sent there earlier, Martin & Elizabeth,  a nice couple from Beverly in Yorkshire, we had a nice chat with them, then Mano came along and joined us, he's picking up Anna from the airport later this evening after she flies back from the UK, Brenda had spoken to Lumy, outside ' Bar Rojas, earlier and she told Brenda that Susanna has left the bar!

There is a change to the menu for this evening, we are having the rest of the ‘Schnitzels’ & the trimmings, with twice-cooked ‘ Chips’ as there was more left-over, the diced ‘Beef’ for the Curry has been put away for next week instead, tomorrow evening we are having our favourite ‘ Grilled Chicken Wings’ with a Baked Potato, Friday will be a ‘ Fish Supper’ and then on Saturday, you’ve guessed, it’s ‘ Steak Night ‘ – Sunday is yet to be agreed, possibly a ‘ Roast’ - watch this space.

Still no news from the ‘ Moffat’s – Tim & Thea ‘ after they returned to ‘Mojacar’ last month, they went at the best time, as North Wales was hit with the  ‘ Hurricane ‘ just after they left! Hopefully they are settled and back into their relaxing life style, on the site, walking & riding, going to the local Gym, wining & dining in ‘Mojacar Pueblo & Playa’ and now getting about in their car, watch this space for a news update.

This afternoon/evening we will be back watching all the ‘Quiz’ shows on the various channels, last night we channel-hopped and caught up with all the news, at the same time.
