A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY.

SUNDAY 28th/ MAY 2017.

We had a nice lie in this morning after all the excitement of yesterday, after Brenda’s breakfast treat of ‘ Campo Poached Eggs on Toast ‘ with a hot cup of ‘ PG Tips’ we sorted ourselves out for the day ahead.

We are picking our friends Kevin & Carloline up later, it was Carolines birthday yesterday, we are then heading along the coast road to Estepona, where we will park in the underground car park beneath the promenade, we are going to the ‘ Champagne/Sushi Bar’ for a nice glass of chilled ‘ Cava Rosado’ before carrying on to ‘ Kokomo’ for our ‘ Sunday Roast Lunch ‘ – watch this space for the pictures later.

A full report of our day out with Kevin & Caroline will appear on tomorrow's Blog;

We are in for another ‘hot one’ today, the sun was out early and the sky is bright blue, the ‘ Levante’ wind has dropped, so by lunchtime it’s due to reach the high 20s again, next week we are in for more of the same, by mid-week it will be even hotter, next weekend is also looking good, which is good news as we are heading up to Alhaurin el Grande, on Saturday morning, to see our dear fried Joyce, watch this space.

Early evening, yesterday, when we returned from the ‘ International Day ‘ down in Castillo de la Duquesa, some pictures later after a friend posts them, we settled down to watch the ‘ FA Cup Final’ from Wembley, in a big surprise, Arsenal beat Chelsea 2-1 and played very well, Chelsea were poor; then after supper we caught the ‘ Copa del Rey Final’ as Barcelona won 3-1 against Alaves with an inspired Lionel Messi scoring and assisting with another goal.

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA;

..

A VERY 'CLOSE' WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY.

SATURDAY 27th/ MAY 2017.

We had a nice lie in this morning as the village is very quiet, no deliveries, no children ( too hot!) & no church bells, so far! We have a busy day ahead so we decided to have a good breakfast to set us up, ‘ Crispy Smoked Bacon, Chorizo & Campo Fried Eggs ‘ with lots of buttered toast and mugs of hot, steaming tea, as you see below.

We are setting off at lunchtime down to ‘ Castillo de la Duquesa’ – the first problem will be finding somewhere to park, it starts at 12-00noon with a parade from ‘Puerto de la Duquesa’ – “ The X1 International Day “ then carries on until 12.00 midnight with a rock band to finish! The music and stage sound engineering is supplied by ‘ Castle Radio FM 89.2 & Online on the WWW’  Yours truly ‘ Sir ‘ Malcolm is appearing ‘ live ‘ broadcasting from the stage with my ‘ Classic Saturday Session ‘ in between all the various acts from all over the World, watch this space.

Overnight it went very ‘close’ and this morning started a little overcast, the sun is now breaking through and the sky is starting to clear, by lunchtime it’s forecast reach the mid 20 s, this afternoon will be very hot & sunny, tomorrow it’s more of the same and then next week we are in for another warm & sunny week, watch this space.

On the sports front today and over the weekend, over in the UK it’s the “ FA Cup Final” at Wembley as Arsenal play Chelsea, over here in Madrid it’s the “ Copa Del Rey Final’ as Barcelona play Alaves. Meanwhile it’s the ‘Grand Prix of Monaco’ as Lewis Hamilton fights off the ‘ Ferrari’s.

We are taking the day as it comes and will sort out the eating arrangements later, tomorrow we are looking forward to our ‘ Sunday Roast Lunch ‘ ( again!) as we are going to our favourite restaurant ‘ Kokomo ‘ with our friends Kevin & Caroline.

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA;

..

A VERT HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF A 'HELLUVA' WEEKEND.

FRIDAY 26th/ MAY 2017.

I was up very early this morning and after a quick freshen up I shot off on my travels down to Sabinillas, Brenda then saw ‘ Reina’ back with us for the day, next week she’s only with us in ‘ Doggy World Heaven ‘ for four days, from Tuesday, as its the ‘ English’ Bank Holiday on Monday.

I found somewhere to park and was first in the queue at our Bank, the Assistant Manager looked after me and sorted out the final documents for our new ‘Savings Account’ – it will be Online by the middle of next week. I then did our main shop in ‘Mercadona’ before calling into the ‘ English Bookshop ‘ for the local English newspapers and a Birthday Card, next I went into the ‘ Movistar ‘ shop to check on the ‘Fiber Optic’ installation date, down our street, it’s due in the next 4/6 weeks, watch this space.

I then shot along the promenade to the local market at the far end,  I picked up some nice ‘Blue’ plants, for a change, for our window display, finally I popped into ‘ Super Sol ‘ for the ‘English’ essential before shooting back up the hill through the  ‘Green Vine Field’- I have managed to park in the small square next to the Mayor’s house.

See the pictures below

As I was parking Mario came out of the house, he asked after his son, Mario Jnr, who is practising his English speaking with us, I gave him a good report, his writing & spelling is very good, his speaking is a lot better, so fingers crossed that this time he will pass the ‘ Cambridge’ Exam, he only missed it last year by a couple of points, we are working on his nerves this time! He’s back with next week on Tuesday & Thursday afternoon.

I then registered a complaint with Mario, it pays to have friends in high places, yesterday morning the ‘ Council Electricians’ arrived in our street and the surrounding ‘ Barrios’ – they took down the street lighting and installed new ones, they look the same but the old ones gave a glowing ‘ Gold/ Bronze ‘ color, the new ones are ‘ Stark White Neon ‘ and the streets look garish & tasteless, cold and very bright! It won’t make any difference as it’s a cost saving exercise, all our old neighbours think the same.

See below.

We have another glorious day here in sunny Manilva, the sun was out earl the sky is bright Blue, there is a little ‘Lavente’ breeze making it very pleasant, it’s going to be a hot one later, 28 degs & rising, the weekend is also keeping warm & sunny, next week is warm & sunny in the mid/high 20s, tomorrow ‘ Castle Radio FM 89.2 ‘ has arranged a tent/ sunshade for the live broadcast site in the park next the ‘ Castillo’ – see below the programme of the acts appearing during the day.

This evening for our supper we are having ‘ Grilled Tail-End of Salmon Fillet’ with ‘ Hollandaise’ sauce, Garden Peas & Parsley New Potatoes, on Saturday it’s going to be ‘ Grilled Entrecote Steaks’ with all the trimmings; Sundays ‘ Barnsley Lamb Chops ‘ with ‘Boulangere’ potatoes have been put on hold!

Our “ Social Calendar “ has changed has changed this weekend & next; yesterday evening some friends called in to say ‘Hello’ – we met Kevin & Caroline last year up at ‘ Bar Rojas’ – they have an apartment down in Sabinillas at the bottom of the hill, they come over at different times during the year, they had tried to hook up with us last weekend, but missed us as we were out & about, they follow the Blog, so saw that we had been out for lunch, they asked if we could make it this weekend as they wanted to go to ‘ Kokomo’ for their excellent Sunday lunch, we had recommended it to them, so we have booked a table and are picking them up and are stopping in Estepona, at the ‘ Champagne Bar’ for a nice glass of chilled Cava Rosado on the way.

As we were talking to them the phone went and it was our very dear friend Joyce, from Chester, she had just arrived at her house in ‘ Alhaurin el Grande’  in the high ‘Sierras’ behind Marbella ,for a short break, we have arranged to meet up with her next weekend on Saturday, for the day, we will drive up in the morning, then spend the day in and around the town, which we love, watch this space.

Next week I have my appointment, on Monday morning, with our Doctor, Natalia, for the results of my six month review/check up. On Wednesday & Thursday we have  the  ‘ Painters/Decorators ‘ arriving to see to all the damp & water damage, watch this space.

..

A VERY WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON THURSDAY.

THURSDAY 25th/ MAY 2017.

I was up first this morning to see ‘ Reina’ back with us for the day, we then freshened up before our usual light breakfast of toast & tea, we then put together the shopping list for tomorrow morning when I’m out on my travels down in Sabinillas, I have to call into our Bank, first, as I need to finalize the new Savings Account.

When I return tomorrow I will be parking the car in the small square next to the ‘ Mayor’- Mario’s, house, where we have a ‘ Historical’ parking space, I’ve spoken to the other neighbours, this evening his son, also Mario, is back with us for his ‘ English’ speaking class. The underground car park complex is due to close on Monday morning. Watch this space.

On Saturday afternoon we are going down to ‘ Castillo de la Duquesa’ for the ‘ X1 International Meeting & Family Day’ as I’m presenting a ‘ Live Broadcast’ on ‘ Castle Radio FM 89.2 & Online on the WWW’ with my classic show “ ‘Sir Malcolm’s Saturday Classic’ – just for one hour, time to be confirmed, watch this space.

We are in for another hot day, today, the sun was out early and the sky has cleared, there is no breeze so by lunchtime it will reach the mid 20s – tomorrow it’s forecast to be 29 degs, with more to come over the weekend, next week is looking hot & sunny reaching the high 20s, all the time, watch this space.

Andreas has just dropped off some Tapas to have with our ' Happy Hour ' drinks - ' Cremoso de Ibericos - Creamed Iberica Ham '

Yesterday afternoon we settled down to watch on the ‘ Kodi’ Film Channel’ on the ‘ Amazon Fire TV Stick ‘ the “ The Hateful Eight “ a revisionist Western/ Mystery Film written & Directed by Quentin Tarantino, with a music score by Ennio Morricone and starring Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russel, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tim Roth, Michael Madison, Channin Tatum & Bruce Dern,  as eight strangers  seek refuge from a blizzard in a stagecoach stopover, sometime after the ‘ American Civil War’ It’s a ‘ Helluva ‘ movie in the traditional ‘ Tarantino’ style, watch it at your peril!!

After supper we watched the  ‘ Europa League ‘ Final in Stockholm, on the ‘ First Row Sports Channel ‘ via my PC, as Manchester Utd beat Ajax 0-2 and qualify for the ‘ Champions League’ next season. ‘ Mr Mourinho’ was a very happy man!  It was also a great result for the city of Manchester after Monday’s terrorist suicide bombing.
