THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM SUNNY MANILVA;

...

A WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY.

SUNDAY 3rd/ JUNE 2018.

We had a nice lie in this morning before the Church bells started calling the ‘ Faithful ‘ to the ‘ Corpus Christi Mass ‘ After a quick shower we had our normal toast & tea before getting ourselves ready to go out later to the see the procession and the various street ‘Altar’s’ - which by tradition are set up along ‘Calle Mar ‘- ready to be blessed by Padre Jose, as the newly confirmed children in their ‘White Communion Dresses and Uniforms’ follow with all their family’s behind, singing the various songs of salutation.

See all the pictures above; (which will be posted later due to a technical problem!)

This morning the sun was out early and the sky has cleared and is bright blue as there is a light breeze blowing, by lunchtime it’s due to reach 24/25 degs+ - next week is now looking warm & sunny with a few occasional clouds, hovering on in the mid 20s, overnight 15/16 degs, staying the same over next weekend, just right for Jason & Donna’s visit on Thursday, watch this space.

On Monday morning Brenda has her re-arranged appointment with our Doctor, Natalia, for her re-view/check up after her appointment with the ‘Heart Consultant’ last week, then on Thursday we are preparing for the visit of our old friends Jason & Donna, who are staying for the night at ‘Hostel Ocana ‘ on ‘Calle Mar ‘ where we have booked the executive suite for them. We are going for a ‘Tapas’ lunch to the ‘K’ Bar in Sotogrande Marina and then in the evening where we have booked a window table at our favourite ‘ celebration restaurant ‘ Restaurante Macues ‘

In ‘ Doggy World Heaven ‘ next week little princess ‘ Reina ‘ is back with us on Monday/Tuesday & Wednesday, then on Monday lunchtime ‘Paddy’ is due to arrive for his extended two month holiday, he’s bringing his day & night beds, all his regular food & treats, as well as his comfort cushion! ‘Chispa’ no doubt will be calling in to see all her friends.

See below his before & after pictures from yesterday when he was groomed before his holidays!

At lunchtime we went along to ' Bar Castillo ' for a nice cool drink and some Tapas, sat in the warm sunshine with a cooling breeze blowing, a glorious day here in sunny Manilva.

This evening for our supper we are having ‘Pan-Seared Medallions of Pork Fillet’ garnished with Button Mushrooms and served with a Creamy Green Peppercorn(soft) Salsa, with Glazed Carrot Batons & Whole ‘French’ Green Beans and my special ‘ Breton’ style Potatoes, diced boiled potatoes, tossed in foaming butter, with chopped Onions, Red & Green Peppers.

Yesterday over in Canada Sandra & Bill were away for the weekend, for the first time, in their new trailer, hooked-up to Bill’s ½ ton ‘ GMC Sierra ‘ – they went North from Everett, Ontario and ended up on the “ Hope Bay “ Campground on the ‘Bruce Peninsula ‘ which is surround by ‘Lake Huron’ – one of the ‘ Great Lakes’ – the site is in a spectacular position next to the lake, as you can see in the pictures below.

For the rest of the day we are taking things easy, relaxing and later watching the TV.

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A VERY SUNNY MANILVA;

...

A VERY WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY.

SATURDAY 2nd / JUNE 2018.

We had a nice lie in this morning, as we are ‘ Doggy-Free ‘ this weekend, only ‘ Chispa’ calling in at different times of the day to see us, as usual, the village is very quiet, Brenda was on ‘ Campo Poached Egg ‘ on toast, with mugs of strong tea ‘duty’ to set us up for the day ahead, basically we are doing nothing, because we can!

The sun broke through first thing and the clouds have cleared, the sky is bright blue and there is a slight breeze, making it very pleasant, by lunchtime it’s forecast to reach 22 degs+ - tomorrow on ‘Corpus Christi Sunday ‘ we are in for a hot one, very warm & sunny raising to 26/27 degs+ by the time of the procession along ‘ Calle Mar ‘ at mid-day.

See the sunrise this morning over the ‘ Mediterranean’ and the coast below the village

.

Next week is now looking very warm & sunny, with a few clouds at times, hovering in the mid 20s, just right for the time of the year, not too hot with a little breeze, and not a lot of holiday makers, especially as we have Jason & Donna visiting us on Thursday, by next weekend it’s due to go up to 28/29 degs+ - overnight 16/17 degs. Watch this space.

This evening for our supper we are having a ‘ Grilled Rib of Beef ‘ on the bone, cooked on a very hot griddle-plate ‘ Med-Rare’ and then left to rest, before taking it off the bone and carving it into fingers ‘ French’ style, garnished with Seared Asparagus Spears, Button Mushrooms & Shallots, served with Whole French Green Beans and of course twice-cooked ‘ Frits’ – accompanied with Dijon Mustard & the classic ‘Bearnaise’ sauce!

On Sunday it’s going to be ‘ Pan-Seared Medallions of Pork Fillet’ with all the trimmings and then on Monday ‘ Escalope’s of Pork Schnitzels’ – using the rest of the Pork Fillet, served with ‘Spaghetti Milanese’

This weekend on the sports front it’s a little different; the ‘Premier League & La Liga’ have finished and this weekend and next week we have ‘ International Friendlies ‘ as the National teams warm up before the ‘ World Cup ‘ in Russia starting in the middle of the month.

Today at/on Epsom Downs it’s the 239th running of the ‘ Epsom Derby ‘ – over the classic course of one mile, four furlongs and 6 yards! See below:

Then from the ‘Sublime to the Ridiculous’ we will be watching the “ TT “ Motorbike Racing from the Isle of Man, over the gruelling and most dangerous 37.73 miles clockwise course around the Island, see below.

Last night after supper we caught up with the next episode of the Swedish/Danish police drama (with excellent sub-titles) “ The Bridge “ as the story got even more gruesome, a former prime suspect opted to take his own life, by shooting himself in the head, a dad was cruelly tricked into murdering his daughter, with a lethal injection, the main Lady Detective ‘Saga ‘ – who is pregnant, by her co-detective, as the plot thickened, she realised that the three killings, so far, are echoing methods of state executions, ( stoning, electrocution & poisoning ) – which means that there will be at least four more! Watch this space.

This evening we will be after supper channel hopping again to find something to watch, next week and over next weekend lots of series/dramas are returning including ‘ Poldark ‘

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A VERY SUNNY MANILVA;

...

A VERY WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEKEND.

FRIDAY 1st/ JUNE 2018.     “ NATIONAL FISH & CHIPS DAY “

I was up first this morning and after a quick freshen up I shot off on my travels down to Sabinillas for the weekly shopping. Brenda had a little lie in as she had a ‘ Lousy’ night’s sleep, in her own words! I did the main shop in ‘ Mercadona’ and collected the local newspapers from the ‘English Bookshop’- I then dropped down into ‘ Puerto de la Duquesa’ to the ‘ English Butchers’ to stock up!

Next I came back to the far end of the promenade in Sabinillas to the local market for the fresh flowers & wall plants, on the way back up the hill I called into ‘ Super-Sol’ for the English essentials, before un-loading back at the house, after putting the car away I had toast & tea, as ‘ itZabar’ was closed this morning.

See below the front of the house in ‘Calle San Vicente’ this morning.

As I was driving down through the vine fields the sun was already above the horizon, the ‘ Mediterranean’ was sparking, the morning had, as usual, started cloudy & overcast, as you can see in the picture below, showing Sabinillas earlier.

It’s now very warm & sunny with a clear blue sky, by lunchtime it’s due to reach 23/24 degs+ -  overnight 14/15 degs, we are in for more of the same over the weekend, on Sunday it will be hovering in the high 20s, overnight up to 17 degs+ - the ‘ light’ duvet will be coming out! Next week is going to be dry, settled, warm & sunny getting hotter as the week goes on, just in time for the visit of Jason & Donna on Thursday, watch this space.

For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Pan-Seared Fillets of Hake’ – dusted in seasoned flour – finished ‘ Meuniere’ style with Brown Butter, Parsley & Lemon, with Garden Peas and ‘Rissole’ Potatoes, Baby New Potatoes boiled in their skins and then tossed in foaming Butter until crisp & Brown! – in celebration of “ National Fish and Chips Day “!!

On Saturday it’s going to be a ‘Grilled Rib of Beef ‘ on the bone, cooked on a very hot griddle-plate  ‘Med- Rare’ – then left to rest, before carving if off the bone into Fingers ‘ French’ style,  then on Sunday we are now going to have ‘Pan-Seared Medallions of Pork Fillet’ with all the trimmings.

Yesterday was ‘ Corpus Christi Day ‘ all over Spain, one of the many religious days during the year, it’s being celebrated here in sunny Manilva on Sunday, as the procession from the church will come along ‘ Calle Mar’ – the first parade along the new street! It’s led by the local Padre and all the children that had their first communion in May. Watch this space.

Last night after supper we went for a short walk and ended up sat outside ‘ Bar Castillo ‘ for a nice cool drink, on a ‘Balmy ‘ evening, taking in the sights, sounds & aromas of sunny Manilva, all the locals are liking the new street and are looking forward to when it’s finished, I spoke to the Mayor, Mario, this morning and he confirmed that the lights will be ‘ White’ – also the proposed ‘ Canopy/Awning’ sounds like it’s going to be rather grand! Watch this space.

This evening we will be as usual channel hopping to find something to watch.
