THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM SUNNY MANILVA;

...

A WARM & SUNNY MANILVA, AT THE MOMENT, ON THURSDAY.

THURSDAY 10th/ MAY 2018.

We all had a little lie in this morning, ‘Charlie’ slept all night on the rug & ‘Chico’ was in his bed, ‘Charlie’ lets us know when it’s time to go out, by tapping you with his paw, we then freshen up and get dressed, the two dogs wait, very patiently, on the wicker mat in the office/studio, were they have a good roll & scratch! Brian & Jan arrived home late last night so they are picking ‘Charlie’ up this afternoon, ‘Chico’ is due to be collected on Saturday morning, we then went for our first walk of the day around the bottom of the village, when we returned we had our regular light breakfast of ‘ Weetabix’ fresh fruit, toast & tea.

We then put together the shopping list for tomorrow morning when I’m out on my travels down to Sabinillas for the weekly shopping, we have another ‘ Helluva’ weekend, on Saturday evening, after supper, we are going down to the new Bar for the ‘ Blues/Harmonica ‘ Gig ‘ – on Sunday we are out & about on the ‘ Costa del Sol ‘ meeting our friend Joyce, for ‘Sunday Lunch’ and now on Monday we are shooting across to Fuengirola to meet up with our friend Julie & her family, since we last met her she’s married, had three children, her oldest daughter is just about to go to University to become a Doctor, and in Llandudno she has busy life as a local Councillor ( Conservative/Independent) – so lots of news/gossip to catch up with! Watch this space.

As we were out this morning for the first walk of the day it was cloudy, grey & overcast with storm clouds, rain in the air, very unseasonal, by lunchtime the sun is still forecast to break through, but the threat of the wet stuff is still hanging around, still 21 degs+ Then from tomorrow and over the weekend it’s getting warmer, keeping dry & sunny and next week is now looking dry, warm & settled, hovering on the 24/25 degs+ mark at times, watch this space.

See below ‘ Llandudno Pier ‘ & Colwyn Bay Piers’ yesterday !

At lunchtime Brenda popped along to the Chemists in 'Calle Mar' for our prescription tablets, the work at the top end of the street is nearly finished and is looking rather grand, we then went for a walk with both of the dogs, I called into the local Bank to pay another electricity bill and then on the way back we called into ' Bar Castillo' for a cool drink & Tapas, Paqui had just made a 'Potaje' - with Broad Beans, Potatoes & Artichokes' - delicious!

For supper this evening we are having the rest of the ‘ Chicken & Mushroom Curry’ with a ‘Timbale’ of Basmati Rice and twice-cooked Chips! On Friday it’s a ‘ Fish Supper’ depending on the local market selection, then on Saturday we are going to have an early ‘ Minute Steak ‘ & ‘Frits’ before going out, on Sunday we are looking forward to our ‘ Roast Lunch’ out down in ‘ Castillo de la Duquesa’! ( Chef’s day-off!)

Just a quick update of the sports results from last night; Manchester City won 3-1, Real Madrid lost 3-2 & Barcelona won 5-1 and moved to within two games of an unbeaten ‘ La Liga’ season!

Today at the ‘ Giro d ‘Italia’ it’s Stage 6 from Caltanissetta to Etena over 164 kms, when Chris Froome is expected to make a challenge on the steep climb to the finish, watch this space.

See the stage/route map below;

Yesterday afternoon/ evening we caught up with two old Quiz Shows; ‘ The 100K Drop ‘ with Davina McCall and the later ‘ Who Wants to Be a Millionaire’ with Jeremy Clarkson, the only thing to say is that the ‘General Knowledge’ of the British public, especially the younger ones, has deteriorated, on both shows the contestants came away with the minimum amounts after answering basic questions wrong!!

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM SUNNY MANILVA;

...

A NOW WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON WEDNESDAY.

WEDNESDAY 9th/ MAY 2018.

I was up early, again, this morning to see little princess ‘Reina’ back with us for today, the last time this week, here in ‘ Doggy World Heaven’ – she, as usual, shot up into her duvet, ‘ Chico & Charlie’ both slept all night, they are both very good sleepers, they are eating everything, and are into our walking routine around the lower part of the village, we are going to miss them both, as they are such good company and real characters, ‘Charlie’ goes home tomorrow and ‘ Chico’ on Saturday.

We then took them for their first walk of the day, when we returned we had our regular breakfast of ‘ Weetabix’ fresh fruit, toast & tea, I then got the evenings supper on the go!

Overnight a stiff breeze was blowing and this morning it was still a little breezy as we set off, it’s cloudy but the sun is trying to break through, by lunchtime it’s forecast to be 21 degs+ - over the next few days it’s more of the same, then on Sunday the sun is due to return in sunny Manilva! Next week is now looking, for the first time in a long while, dry, warm & sunny, getting warmer as the week goes on, hovering on the 24 degs+ mark, 14/15 degs overnight, watch this space.

See below a picture of the ‘ Royal Liver Building’ at the Pier Head in Liverpool taken this morning as 6-00 am!

As I said above, I have just made the ‘ Chicken & Mushroom Curry ‘ for this evenings supper, the aromas are wafting upstairs to the office/studio, as I’m typing/posting today’s Blog, and up the street, the only ‘Curry House’ in sunny Manilva is open for business! The ‘ Second Chef’ has been left in charge of the skimming, tasting and adjusting the consistency, at the same time she has prepared the Garden Peas & her special ‘ Basmati Rice ‘

This afternoon we are going to catch up with the ‘ Giro d’ Italia’ Stage 5 – from Agrigento to Santa Ninfa over 153 kms, over in Sicily, tomorrow they finish, by the top of ‘ Mount Etna’! Britain’s Simon Yates is up to third, as Chris Froome lost a little time, on the final climb, it’s still ‘early days’ – watch this space.

Last night after supper we settled down to watch the next episode of “ The Split “ – about a family of lady divorce lawyers, this week featured a surprise ‘love child’ – an illicit kiss with the young black vicar, as one of the sisters had ‘ cold-feet’ ahead of her wedding, a drunken ‘ NERF GUN’ fight?! The husband tried to kiss one of the sisters’ not his wife, as she had taken her young daughter to get contraception segued! Then at the end the three sisters discovered their mother had been hiding letters & presents, that their father has sent then, over 30 years, since he left the family, to run off the America with the Nanny! Watch this space!!

PS; Next Monday morning we are now going across to Fuengirola as a friend, who used to work for us,from Llandudno, is staying at a Hotel, on the front, for a week, from today, Julie is with her young daughter & her mother, we are looking forward to a good catch up, with all her news!  We can't wait to see her again after all these years!

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM SUNNY MANILVA;

...

A STILL WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY.

TUESDAY 8th/ MAY 2018.

I was up early this morning to welcome back little princess ‘ Reina’ for the day, she shot into her duvet, she’s back tomorrow, ‘Chico’ slept in his bed all night and ‘ Charlie’ was on the rug by the side of our bed, they all get on very well, after a quick freshen-up we took ‘Chico & Charlie’ for their first walk of the day, around the bottom of the village, when we returned I treated us to ‘ Toasted Smoked Bacon Butties’ – open on brown for Brenda – smothered in ‘ HP’ Brown Sauce, with mugs of strong/sweet tea!

Over the weekend ‘ Chispa’ has been in & out to see her friends, no doubt she will call in later, we have a new guest, joining us in ‘Doggy World Heaven’ – who will be a ‘Record Breaker’ as he’s going to be with us for two months (June & July)  ‘Paddy’ is a Yorkie/Bichon cross, he called into to see us yesterday afternoon, Eileen & Russell are going to the ‘USA’ to see their family, so they want a ‘Home’ atmosphere for their little ‘ Lad ‘!

See ‘ Paddy’ below, at home on his own settee!

This morning has started like yesterday, a little grey & overcast, but cleared by the time we went out for our first walk of the day, there was no breeze so it was already warm & sunny, by lunchtime it will be 24 degs+ - just like yesterday, over the next couple of days it’s more of the same, sadly on some of the forecasts it’s showing some of the ‘ wet-stuff’ in the air! From Friday and over the weekend it’s getting back to normal for the time of the year, warm & sunny, hovering on the 23 degs+ mark, next week is now also looking more settled but still with the possibility of patchy clouds and rain, at times ?!  Watch this space.

See below a picture, taken yesterday evening, showing the Pier Head & ‘Royal Liver Building’ in Liverpool at their best.

And later the same night!

For our supper this evening we are keeping things simple; I’m making a ‘ Cheese Omelette ‘ for Brenda and a ‘Breton Omelette’ for me, using the left-over ‘Breton’ style Potatoes, served with finely sliced French Green Beans and some twice-cooked ‘ Frits’ Tomorrow we are having my famous ‘ Chicken & Mushroom Curry’ with Basmati Rice.

Some news this morning on the ‘ Councils’ web –site; The Church of ‘ Iglesia De Santa Ana’ is getting a ‘second’ large make-over/repair up-date, more details to be announced over the next week, watch this space.

See the Church below;

They have also just announced that the large Mural in the 'Plaza de la Vendimia' - which fell-off last year, is going to be replaced earlier than forecast, this morning they were re-tiling around the fountain!

See below;

See below the ' Mural' before it fell off and the empty space for the new one!

PS; The other mural behind the vine crushing pit, by the side is fine, so I'm safe for now ! ( Middle Caballero!)

This weekend we now have a ‘Helluva ‘ Saturday & Sunday now planned, as on Saturday evening, after supper, I’m taking my ‘ Rock Baby’ out to a local ‘ Gig’ at the new Bar that has just opened in the village, “ Bri’s Bar – Bar Ebano “ – it’s an old bar at the entrance to the village, by the roundabout, down some steep steps, with spectacular views across the valley to the mountains and down to the Mediterranean!

“ Billy Boy Miskimmins “ is playing, with his famous ‘ Lee Oskar’ Harmonica, he’s ex ‘ The Yardbirds & Nine Below Zero’ – both of which I have played on my live Radio Show, in the past, on ‘ Castle Radio FM 89.2 ‘ On Friday evening he’s at ‘Itszabar’ and then on Sunday at ‘Ringo’s Bar’ – Manilva & Sabinillas will be rocking!!

Then on Sunday we are meeting up with our dear friend Joyce ‘Baby’ as she’s over from Chester, at her house up in Alhaurin el Grande, above Marbella, so we are going to ‘La Taberna 2 ‘ down in Castillo de la Duquesa, for their excellent ‘ Sunday Roast Lunch’ Watch this space.

This evening after supper we will settled down to watch the next episode of “ The Split “ – about a family of lady divorce lawyers.
