THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM SUNNY MANILVA;

..

A WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON WEDNESDAY.

WEDNESDAY 3rd/ MAY 2017.

We were both up early this morning, Brenda was catching the local bus down to Sabinillas to go for her appointment with her hairdresser, Annie, for the full works, I meanwhile welcomed back ‘ Reina’ for the day, before she left we had ‘ Crispy Smoked Bacon Butties ‘ – open for Brenda, with mugs of hot tea.

Brenda is also calling into the ‘ English Bookshop’ for a ‘ Wedding Card ‘ as Matt & Michelle are finally tying the knot next Monday lunchtime over in Preston, at the registry office and then the pub, at noon, they told us when they were here in sunny Manilva for Xmas, we wish them a very ‘Happy Day’ and all the very best for the future with their lovely family.

On the way home she’s stopping at ‘ Super Sol’ for the English essentials before catching the local bus back up to the village at lunchtime. Meanwhile I’m up in the office/studio on the ‘WWW’

The sun broke through early this morning and sky is clear, there is a light breeze but it’s 23/24 degs & rising, 14 degs during the night, the rest of the week and over the weekend into next week is looking warm & settled, getting hotter, the threat of the wet stuff has gone way, watch this space.

See the promenade down in Sabinillas this morning.

Last night, after mid-night, the final overhead part of the new footbridge arrived down in Sabinillas, it was lifted and installed across the main A7, Mediterranean Motorway, by the roundabout by ‘ La Noria/Lidl ‘ -  the footbridge looks rather smart, the locals have been waiting for many years for this to happen, the Mayor, our neighbour, Mario, was there with all the other Councillors, as you can see in the pictures below.

Today also happens to be ‘ Mario’s birthday – ‘ Feliz CumpleaƱos ‘ – his eldest son, Mario, called in yesterday evening to ask us if he could come back with us for some more  ' English’ speaking lessons as he’s due to re-take his exam in June, he’s joining us next week on Tuesday & Thursday evening.

This evening for our supper we are keeping it simple,  ‘ Chicken & Chips ‘ – not in the ‘ Basket ‘! ‘Flattened Chicken Breast ‘ a la ‘Plancha’ ( Griddle Plate )  with twice-cooked ‘ Chips ‘ & Garden Peas. Tomorrow evening our fried, Andy, is joining us for supper, we are having the full ‘ Roast’ – ‘ Loin of Pork ‘ with all the trimmings, starters & dessert, watch this space.

After speaking to Lee & Daniela yesterday evening, when they collected ‘ Reina’ - they are this evening installing an ‘ Amazon TV Fire Stick’ onto our large screen TV, they checked it last night to make sure that it had the necessary ‘ports’ and that the currant ‘ Jazztel ‘ single is strong enough, at the same time they are installing ‘ Smart Apps ‘ ( DNA etc )  – hopefully we will be able to be back on air with the ‘English’ TV Channels, as well as lots of other ‘ Goodies’ Watch this space.

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A VERY SUNNY MANILVA;

..

A WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY.

TUESDAY 2nd/ MAY 2017.

We were both up early this morning, I shot off with Mano to collect the car from the underground car park and take it to the garage, it needs a check up etc and could be in for a few days, this means that I might have to go down on the bus on Friday morning for the weekly shopping and come back in a taxi, I also was taking Lillemor to the airport on Saturday, which is now TBC. Our Sunday lunch out at ‘Kokomo’ is also under review! Watch this space.

Brenda saw little princess ‘ Reina’ back with us for the day, she’s with us in ‘ Doggy World Heaven ‘ for the next four days, no doubt ‘ Chispa’ will be in to see her.

See the pictures below of ' Chispa ' with her new trim!

The sun was out early this morning, the sky has cleared and it’s crisp & getting warm, by lunchtime it’s due to reach 18/19 degs, the rest of the week is going to be a little warmer over the weekend and into next week it’s forecast to be hotter, there is the slight threat of some of the wet stuff being around on Friday, watch this space.

See below, ' Puerto De La Duquesa  ' this morning.

This evening for our supper we are having ‘ Grilled English Pork Sausages ‘ with a fry-up of all the left over Vegetables & Potatoes, on Wednesday it’s going to be something simple as on Thursday our friend, Andy, is joining us for supper, we are roasting ‘ Roast Loin of Pork ‘ with all the trimmings.

See below some pictures from 9 years ago when our dear friend Jane was our first visitor to sunny Manilva.

And an ' Arresting ' moment in Estepona!

We have a major problem with our TV System ‘ FilmOn’ ( Free! ) that we use via the large PC, connected to the large screen TV, to watch all the English TV Stations, as yesterday it went off and is now subscriber only, it had been reported in the local newspapers that it was about to happen, our system user ‘ Jazztel’ is not good enough to use for other systems, we need the ‘ Fiber- Optic ‘ installed ‘ ASAP’ – I will have to chase around down in Sabinillas for a new option from ‘ Orange/ Movistar ‘ – the ‘Black Box’ system that I have on order won’t work either until we have it here in ‘ Calle San Vicente' Watch this space!

PS; The Moffatt's' have just been spotted in Aranjuez outside Madrid on their way to catch the ferry back to England later in the month! Safe travels to Tim & Thea !!

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM SUNNY MANILVA;

..

A STILL CRISP BUT WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON MONDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEK.

MONDAY 1st / MAY 2017.   “  MAY DAY - LABOUR DAY “

We had another nice lie in this morning as the village is very quiet, the ‘Bank Holiday’ here is celebrated as ‘ Labour Day – May Day’ over in the UK. We had our usual breakfast of toast, fresh fruit and tea, ‘ Chispa’ came calling just as we finished, she’s been in & out all weekend, ‘Reina’ is back with us from tomorrow  morning here in ‘ Doggy World Heaven’ for four days this week.

On Tuesday morning I’m taking the car in for a check up to our local garage, on Wednesday morning Brenda is going down on the bus to Sabinillas as she has an appointment at her Hairdressers for the full works, then on Thursday morning I’m down at the surgery for a check up/review with our Doctor, Natalia, in the evening our friend Andy is joining us for supper, he did some work on the computer system the other day, as usual on Friday morning I’m out on my travels for the weekly shopping, then on Saturday morning I’m taking our Swedish friend, Lillemor, across to the airport in Malaga for her flight home to Gothenburg, finally on Sunday we are planning to go out for lunch at our favourite restaurant ‘ Kokomo ‘

We have a glorious sunny day down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ – the sun broke through earlier, the sky has cleared and there is just a light breeze, by lunchtime it will be 20 degs and the forecast for the rest of the week and over the weekend is for more of the same, getting a little warmer each day, hovering in the low 20s, watch this space.

At lunchtime we went up to ' Bar Castillo ' for a cool drink & Tapas, we sat in the warm sunshine taking in the sights, sounds and aromas of sunny Manilva, we joined a Swedish friend, Axel, and then two English friends came along.

This evening for our supper we are having ‘ Escalopes of Pork Schnitzels’ – using breadcrumbs from our local Bakery, I cook them on the Griddle Plate, then I finish them ‘ Holstein’ style –  coated with a Lemon & Parsley Butter salsa,  topped with a ‘ Campo’ Fried Egg criss-crossed with Anchovy Fillets & Capers, on the side we are having ‘ Spaghetti Milanese ‘- tossed in my famous Tomato Sauce with strips of Smoked Ham, and finally sliced Green Beans and lots of Lemon Wedges!

See below;

Last night after supper we settled down to watch the final episode of ‘ Line of Duty ‘ –  Guns blazing, plot twisted to perfection, it went out with a bang, but leaving loose ends to be wrapped up in the next series!

 A “ Balaclava Man ‘ was shot, it turned out that there are more than one, anonymous pawns, used by a gangland overlord at his bidding! Most of the action took place in the main office of ‘AC-12’ – a trademark interview taking up nearly half the episode, the team had chased down all the clues & evidence and finally put the case together.

‘ Roz’ the lady detective played by Thandie Newton, confessed to the killing of her colleague, manslaughter, as it was an accident in self defence, her solicitor who she had asked for to be present, was then unmasked by her, as part of the criminal conspiracy, shrugging off the charges against her to expose the crooked brief but at the same time the rackety Assistant Chief Constable Hilton, who then committed suicide with a shot gun!

Then in another surprise the disgraced new boy at  ‘AC-12’ – who was framed by a colleague, blundered into the trap, with a gun, and revealed himself as another conspirator, he was then arrested, the young boy and the husband, all framed, were then released.

Then in the last scene the ‘ AC-12’ Superintendent Hastings, played by Adrian Dunbar, was keen to stress that the ‘H’ stood for ACC Hilton who was found dead from shotgun wounds, apparently self-inflicted, the shadowy master villain that they had been looking for.

Perhaps the ‘Super’ was a little too eager, given that his surname shares the same initial?! Watch this space for the next series!!

PS; The " Film On " TV System that we watch the English TV & Sports on, via my large PC has gone off, its now encoded, this means that we need the new ' Black Box ' system 'ASAP' despite the ' Fiber Optic' still not being installed, watch this space.
