MANILVA THIS WEEKEND.
SATURDAY/SUNDAY/MONDAY
The forecast for the weekend was good but it turned out to be gorgeous as the sun was out all day, the blue skies and no breeze added to the overall December days down here on the ‘Costa del Sol ’ After breakfast on Saturday morning we freshened ourselves up, the new super shower is brilliant, we can’t stop using it ! Barbara posted on Facebook that her sons,Jake,team was playing at home so we shot down to the football ground but the match had started early and when we got there as you can see in the picture below it had finished ! We then went and watched the Girls Basketball, which is always very competitive, sadly Manilva in the red tops lost mainly because they did nor convert their penalty shots. We had Cheta with us and she was in Brenda’s arm watching the game; we then walked back around the village and found more of the new tourist signs had gone up and the work on the new square next to the Wine Centre is picking up again, the council must have found some money in the coffers! As we got back to Bar Rojas we met Andy and his new lady Maria so we sat and talked as we took in the lunchtime sun outside under the ‘Sonbrajo ’ Later we spoke to Lilli on the Skype Video over in
In the afternoon I watched the
On Sunday after a little lie in we went for a long walk with Cheta and finished back up at Bar Rojas for a Tapas Lunch, Lumy had just made our favourite diced Liver with Potatoes, then Mano and Anna came along and joined is for a drink. In the evening we had roasted Lamb Cutlets on Boulangere Potatoes, that I had made in the morning, for supper before we watched another good documentary, this time it was about ‘ Lemmy ‘ from ‘ Motorhead ’ A bit different to the previous nights ! It showed him on tour, ending up in
Speaking to Anna on Monday morning it turned out the she knew him as he was growing up in Llandudno,he came from Anglesey originally, she even went to Manchester to see him play in his first band ! It’s a small world !!
We were up bright and early on Monday morning and walked around to make an appointment for Brenda to get the results of her scan on her legs; on the way back we called into the butchers to pick up some meat for the next couple of days at we have two bank holidays here in Spain, on Tuesday it is ‘ Constitution Day ’when they celebrate the start of democracy 36 years ago after Franco died and on Thursday it is ‘ Immaculate Conception Day ’ a catholic holiday. We picked up some Pork Cutlets and diced Beef for a Beef and Mushroom Pie on Wednesday. We then spotted some Liver in the other butchers in the village that we don’t use often; she cut it thin as I asked her to do but I could not make out what sort it was. On the way back we bumped into Anna who was out for a walk and went back to our house for a cup of tea and biscuits; we then walked down with Anna back to her house,Mano was out in Estepona signing on the dole, so we could get some Pine Tree cuttings for our Xmas decorations; as we got to her urbanization where she is the President her next door neighbour,Tony, who we know had just arrived back from England with his pride and joy, his ‘ Lotus 7 ’as you can see in the pictures below. It had had some work done on it over in
Thought for the Day;
Any idiot can face a crisis – it’s the day to day living that wears you out.

MANILVA TODAY.
WEDNESDAY/THURSDAY/FRIDAY 30th/1st/2nd NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2011.
We had a lie in after the celebrations of our ‘Ruby Wedding Anniversary ’yesterday; the weather forecast is fine but a little cloudy on Friday then getting better over the weekend and warmer into the start of next week.
It was a at home day as we caught up with the chores around the house and later I went on the WWW. and checked out our e-mails, Facebook and Twitter messages then posted the blog of our night out. In the evening we had Pork Cutlets and Lyonnaise Potatoes for dinner before we settled down to watch the TV; the high lights of the Carling Cup from England where on the sports channel, Liverpool beat Chelsea 2-0 and Manchester City beat Arsenal 1-0 but after the draw for the semi-finals they are going to meet again, the big surprise was that Manchester Utd.lost to Crystal Palace in extra time 1-2 so the other semi-final is between Crystal Palace and Cardiff.
On Thursday we went down on the bus to do the weekend shopping as the forecast for Friday was not as good; we caught the bus back up on the round trip, as we got back to the house Mano and Anna called in for a chat and catch up with the village gossip. One bit of news that was not on our local or national TV stations was that the new airport at
PS; I have just got hold of some pictures of the new airport at Gibraltar taken in the last few days and some other pictures for information. See above !!
Today. Friday, it is a cloudy as forecast and a little cooler as you can see in the pictures below of the new Tourist Information signs that have gone up in the last few days; they are in Spanish and English and also have Braille-very impressive. Brenda has just come back from a quick trip down to Sabinillas,yesterday we bought the dog a sleeping bed/ cushion for Xmas but it was a little small when we tried her in it yesterday ! She got a lift down in a large Silver Mercedes sat in the back like the Queen of Manilva and then caught the bus back up with new larger version.Cheta at the moment sleeps in a card-board box at home ! The picture above is Cheta trying out her new bed – she fits ! Tonight we are having for supper Steaks of Hake in Spanish Batter ( Floured ) and cooked in deep oil with Patatas Bravas, I’ am just going to make the Tomato Salsa.
Thought for the Day;
I’ am not a genius; but I am a terrific package of experience.

ANNETTE ROSE'S NEW ZEALAND ADVENTURE.
Annette Rose’s Adventure in
Just before Annette set off on her trip to the south island of New Zealand we were talking to her on Facebook Chat and said to her to ‘ Go for it ’ Well she did and the pictures of her adventures which she posted last week after settling back into her life in Melbourne are fantastic; I’ am going to do a picture blog in two parts as there are so many great pictures to show the world, in fact it was very hard to choose them and I have got a bit carried away ! They are in no particular order but will give you a very good idea what the south island has to offer, It’s spectacular in every way; she set off from Christchurch on the scenic railway that crosses the island from east to west via ‘ Arthur’s Pass ’ and ends at Greymouth, Christchurch was of course seriously damaged in the earthquake earlier in the year and one of the pictures shows the clock tower that still needs attention, in fact the centre of the city is still a no go Red area. She then headed down the west coast in a hire car towards, Queenstown, stopping at backpackers hostels and hotels on her route, she then transferred to a camper van on her way down to Milford Sound. On her way she met all sorts of interesting people and made friends as she stopped,she also ate at all sorts of interesting places. Woh ! Annette – one “ Helluva ” Adventure !!
