‘Reina’ arrived early this morning so I
came back up to bed and we all had a little lie in, she retires to her duvet
and we get under ours and listen to the ‘Castle Radio FM 89.2’ Breakfast Show
with Andrew Charles.
Its rather sharp today as the breeze over
night brought in a cold blast off the Atlantic which is the tail end of the
storms hitting the UK at the moment, at least its dry and the forecast for the
week ahead is dry, clear with some sunshine, the temperatures are hovering on
the 17/18 degs mark for now!
After breakfast I made the ‘Crepe’ Batter
for this evenings ‘Shrove Tuesday’ treat, as I use fresh ‘Campo’ Eggs the
batter is very Yellow and tasty – we are having our ‘Crepes’ with Sugar &
Lemon & Vanilla Ice Cream, for our supper we are having a ‘Iceland Steak
Pie’ with Garden Peas and some twice-cooked ‘ Chips’
Yesterday on the ‘FTSE 100’ Stock Exchange
the markets reacted to the global Oil prices, the American pre-elections
results, the ‘Greek’ economy, thankfully the Chinese Markets were closed for
the ‘Chinese New Year’ so it was not as bad as forecast, and the upcoming
Common Market problems, the result was the market dropped over 40 Billion
pounds and the ‘Euro’ dropped to its lowest in over three years! Not a good day
for those of us with Pensions, to say the least! Watch this space.
This afternoon we are shooting down to
Sabinillas to go to the ‘English Bookshop’ were Steve is going to process our
Passport Documents and send them off for renewal using a registered system,
they then arrive at our house in due course.
Yesterday afternoon Mano & Anna called
in for a chat and gossip, its Mano’s night off on a Monday, we had a nice cup
of tea with ‘Hot Cross Buns’ and ‘Penguin’ Biscuits ( Iceland!!) He then went
off with a ‘Take-Out’ container of my famous ‘ Minestrone ‘ soup which he has
during his night shift at the ‘Manilva Green Aparthotel’ where he is the ‘Night
Manager’
After supper we watched on BBC 2 a very
good ‘Rick Stein’ programme, he was in Shanghai for the Chinese New Year
celebrations, amongst the dishes he
tried was some delicious ‘ Xia Long Bao Dumplings’ that sag under the weight of
the hot liquid inside them, ‘Chairman Mao’s’ favourite ‘ Rich Red Braised Pork
Belly’ – ‘Hairy Crabs’ & ‘Street Noodles with Pigs Intestines’ which he
said was an acquired taste! And finally ‘Yellow Rice Wine’!!
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
