A CLEAR & BRIGHT SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY;

SUNDAY 7th/ FEBRUARY 2016.

The village was very quiet this morning so we were able to have a nice log lie in, we then had ‘Campo’ Poached Eggs on Toast with a mug of tea for breakfast, I then, with Brenda’s help, made the ‘Minestrone’ soup using my Tomato Salsa as the base with 20 or so different vegetables along with various pastas & pulses etc. We use it as required for our lunchtime snack, we keep the batch in the deep freeze and then re-constitute it with stock when required. Mano will no doubt call in for some for his night-time snack when he’s in work!

Overnight the wind got up but the threatened rain has so far not appeared, it’s at the moment clearing a little and the breeze has dropped, the forecast for next week is starting to look more settled and if anything a little warmer, watch this space.

For our supper this evening we are having the ‘Medallions of Pork Fillet’ cooked on a hot griddle plate and served on a pool of my famous Tomato Salsa with some ‘Sugar Snap’ Peas and local Baby Carrots, I’m making for a change ‘Rissole’ Potatoes using some very nice cooked Baby New Potatoes in their skins, tossed in foaming Butter with chopped Parsley.

Yesterday on the sports front ‘Manchester City lost at home to Leicester 1-3 and did no play well, Liverpool gave away a two goal lead and drew 2-2 and Everton won at Stoke 0-3,the racing from Sandown Park was very exciting before we watched the start of the ‘Six Nations Rugby Union’ as France beat Italy 23-21 but did not play well and then up at Murrayfield England beat Scotland 9-15 with two tries!

At half time in the England game a had a  Skype video call from Tim over in Old Colwyn to let us know that his dear mother had passed away earlier in the afternoon, she was 95 and had been in a home for the past few years , our thoughts go out to Tim, his brother & sisters at this very sad time, we have many happy memories of her over the years especially when she sent us food parcels to our house when we were in dire straights, broke and had no food at one particular time – gone but never forgotten. This now means that Tim will have to come over now at the start of March not the end of February with his mate, for a golfing break, as over in North Wales it now takes over three weeks to arrange for a the cremation?!

Next week we will try again to get our Passport photos taken so as we can then apply for our new Passports with the help of Steve in the English Newspaper shop. ’Reina’ is back with us for five day from Monday to Friday otherwise we have no plans, so far.

After supper last night we watched “ Blitz “ from 2011 – a British crime thriller with Jason Statham playing ‘Jason Statham’ with Paddy Considine, Aidan Gillen and David Morrissey.

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
