SUNDAY 27th/ SEPTEMBER 2015.
We had a nice lie in this morning as the village is very quiet, the sun was out early and the sky is blue for the last day of my week of celebrations, the 'Chef' and the 'Staff' have had the whole week off! We had crispy 'Smoked Bacon Butties' for breakfast to set us up for the day ahead, we won't be eating our lunch until 4-00 pm!
This morning we are re-charging the batteries,taking things easy and getting ready at a leisurely pace as we are not going out until later; we are going to call into the 'Estepona H 10' Princess' 4* Hotel for a nice glass of chilled Cava on our way to 'Cocomo' for our Sunday Roast Lunch.All the details later.See the 'Princess' at its finest below;
We have just arrived back from 'Cocomo' after another perfect Sunday lunch sat under the umbrella's on a very hot afternoon ( 30 degs)! We had a glass of the House' Cava Rosado' as we ordered a Prawn Cocktail for Brenda and the 'Goujons of Cod Fillet in a Saffron Batter' for me.
For our main course we both had the 'Rare' Roast Sirloin of Beef ( 3 slices!) with perfect Wedge Goose Fat Roast Potatoes,Yorkshire Pudding and proper finger licking pan Gravy,a bowl of 'crisp' Mange-Tout,Carrot batons,Cauliflower & Broccoli florets with Baby New Potatoes on the side - homemade Horseradish sauce to make it the most spectacular Sunday lunch anywhere on the 'Costa Del Sol' - all for 12 EUROS!! A fine glass of Chilean Sauvigon Blanc & a Australian 'Rosemount' Shiraz helped the meal along!
We are in 'Heaven' after a 'Helluva' week celebrating my 70th birthday in style.See below;
Last night we had a very pleasant evening in Estepona, the town was buzzing on a very still and balmy evening as the sun set and the moon came out early; we parked in the underground two story car park along the promenade where you can choose where to come up from, we came up into the restaurant where we planned to have our last supper! " The Rada Restaurante' on Avenida Espana
I managed to book a front row table on the road side terrace for later, we then walked along to the Cocktails & Suchi Bar where we had two nice glasses of chilled Cava Rosdao.as we sat and took in the sights and sounds of a vibrant Estepona. See the pictures of the bar next to a very nice small 'Plaza' over looking the Mediterrean.
It was then time to return to the restaurant for our 'last supper' out for a little while as over the next couple of weeks I will be buying the new computer system!! The restaurant was busy both inside and out with mainly regular Spanish customers; the Restaurant Manger takes your order as the aperitif's arrived, we chose two glasses of the 'House' Cava which comes with very nice Green Olives and the 'House' Potato & Tuna Salad.
To start we had 'Tortalitas Camerones' which were perfect crisp and very tasty,Brenda chose for her main course a 'Brochette of Monkfish' served on a 'Timbale' of Wild Rice with two very large fresh local Gambas with a very tasty fruity salsa marinade, I of course had a 'Entrecote Steak' cooked med-rare with fresh 'Frits' and some excellent 'Aldente' mixed vegetables - see the pictures below.
Brenda's Monkfish was very tasty, moist and a huge portion along with the two very fine Gambas, my 'Entrecote Steak' was perfectly cooked and rested before the 'Sea Salt' crystals were sprinkled on the top - just like I do! I even had a little 'Surf & Turff' - thanks Brenda! A fine half bottle of 'Torres Vina Sol' helped the meal along, the service was excellent with good old fashioned waiters looking after our every need!
We finished with coffee and complementary glasses of 'Lemoncello' on the 'House' - which they leave the bottle on the table! A very memorable meal, we will return on another occasion.
Just a quick update on the sports front; Liverpool won 3-2 against Aston Villa,Manchester City lost 4-1 at 'Spurs' Real Madrid could only draw 0-0 against Malaga and Barcelona won 2-1! Lewis Hamilton has just won the 'Grand Prix of Japan' when he passed his team mate Rosberg on the first corner and led from start to finish, Sadly England gave the game away against Wales in the 'Rugby Union World Cup' and now must beat Australia to qualify?!
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
