FRIDAY 4th/ SEPTEMBER 2015.
We were up early this morning and after grabbing a quick breakfast we shot out on our travels for the weekly shopping down in Sabinillas; on the way we called into the surgery to make some appointment's for our check ups and to renew our prescriptions; first stop was the bank before calling into the 'English Bookshop' for the newspapers, birthday cards and to exchange some books.
Next we did our main shop in 'Mercadona' which is now back to normal for this time of the year; we then went along the promenade for some fresh flowers and plants, then 'Super Sol' for the English essentials! After unpacking back at the house I went along to the chemists for my tablets - keep taking them - as the Doctor says! 'Chispa' is here playing around our feet.
When I returned I then made the 'Chicken Curry' for the weekend ahead; the aromas are wafting up the street! Everywhere is busy getting ready for the Vendimia Festival' - there are Council workmen all over the place, erecting the stages in 'Calle Mar' and this year in the park., putting the bunting up and also washing down the street. The locals are also starting to build their 'Sonbrajos' outside their houses along the street and all the bars have put up their bar extentions and are stocking up.
On the main stage in front of the Town Hall,at the moment, there is a local Andalucia Radio Station " Cadena Ser" doing a 'live broadcast' about the weekend, the Mayor and Councillors are being interviewed.
It's warm and sunny with a little breeze and the forecast for the weekend is for more of the same, not too hot, so it will be rather pleasant for a change.
At lunchtime 'Charlie' is due to arrive for his 2/3 day sleep over, we are looking forward to seeing him again as he's such good company, talking of company he's got some friend with him this weekend as 'Freddie & Bentley' arrive tomorrow morning and then 'Reina tomorrow evening!
We have just has a 'Facebook' message asking us if we could look after two 'Samoyeds' next weekend, we are free so watch this space! They are coming to see us on Monday lunchtime!!
Today's Stage 13 of the " Vuelta d'Espana15" is from Catalayus to Tarazona over 177 kms and is described as 'hilly'!
This evening we are going along to 'Bar Castillo' for a light 'Tapas' starter as its the Chefs & Staff night off! We will of course be having our usual 'Happy Hour' cocktails before we set off!
Sat outside 'Bar Castillo' we spoke to an English couple who came along, Ian & Sandra, its started as they asked about 'Charlie' - they are dog lovers,so we made contact with them, nice to meet you and we will see you again! Everybody that sees him, loves him as he's such a gentle dog with eyes that look at you and say ' Love me!' - also all the locals know him and make a fuss of him,our dear friend Big Bri came along with some mates and of course he's Brian's favourite as well!!
We then ended the night at 'Bar Rojas' where we had our main course, we had to put our jumpers on as the breeze got up to a full blown cold wind!
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
