Yesterday
afternoon the bed in our bedroom fell apart once again, the leg fell off this
time! It’s a very old antique bed and we have had it repaired many time in the
past; so we had to move upstairs to the main guest bedroom last night, it is
rather different and also a bit colder up on the top of the house, the repair
man called in and is hopefully coming back later today.
Last night
we went out for supper, as we gave the ‘staff’ the night off! We had a very
nice meal. once again at the ‘Kinnaree Thai Restaurant’ – the highlight of the
starters was the Steamed Pork “Dim –Sun” For the main course we had the same as
last time but with Brenda’s King Prawns with Chilli & Lemongrass she had
some excellent Vegetable Cow Mien Noodles and I had with my *** King Prawns in
Messamen Curry sauce the rather special Fried Rice with Prawns!
The Duquesa
Marina last night was rather quiet and the only customers in the various
restaurants were all English half-term holidaymakers – sat inside not out, it
was like being back in England! See the pictures above of the marina and the
restaurants, I had on my new purple shirt but it does not show in the picture –
honest!
Before we
went out I had been across to the hospital over in Marbella for my eye
test/consultation, the result is that my right eye passed all the tests for
pressure, optic nerves etc but I have a small Cataract that needs further
investigation; this mean that I have to go back to the hospital next Friday
lunchtime and again on the following Wednesday before a final consultation TBC
– three round trips of 100kms!!!
So the
diary over the next couple of weeks is looking rather busy with the
hospital/doctor appointments, airport transfers and pick ups ‘Doggy World
Heaven’ is very busy and the ‘Bird Sanctuary Resort’ also welcoming its first
guest!
The weather
this morning is gorgeous with a little light ‘Levant breeze with more to come over the weekend.
This
morning after a quick breakfast we shot down to Sabinillas as the local flower
market was not open, we called and picked up the papers, then our main shop at
‘Mercadona’ & ‘Super Sol’- some light bulbs from the ‘Ferraterias’ and
finally we stopped at the local flower market on the promenade; on the way back
up to the village we called into the ‘Manilva Green Hotel’ for a catch up
chat/gossip with Mano & Carlos who we have not seen for quite a while.
Now for
some very sad and surprising news, our very dear friends Brian & Lilli have
parted their ways just as their new life down here and work over in Gibraltar
was coming together, Lilli has gone back to Finland with the car and their two
dogs and ‘Big’ Brian is here trying/succeeding to get his life back on track
with a few technical problems to sort out, all his local friends are rallying
around him and his family back in England are giving him their full support at
this very difficult time. We of course are here for him at anytime as a port of
call, a shoulder to listen too and food and drink as required! Love and kind
thoughts to our very dear friend ‘Big’ Brian.
So
tonight’s supper is ‘Goujons of Hake Fillet’ with all the usual trimmings, On
Saturday we have two ‘Entrecote’ steaks to attack before our Sunday roast which
is going to be ‘Roast Loin of Pork’ with local Chestnut stuffing!
Our repair/maintenance man arrived as promised and has just re-glued/screwed the bed together as you can see in the picture below.
