SATURDAY 2nd/
AUGUST 2014.
Well we all
had a nice little lie in this morning after last night’s dinner out,’Reina’
went onto her bed/cushion and stayed there for half of the night and then ended
up on the foot of the bed for the rest, she does like being cuddled in your
arms a lot of the time and is a very loving dog, she ate everything we gave her
yesterday and had a good run on Claus & Doreen’s large lawn/garden on a
very long lead with ‘Alfie’ Bruno & Kathrin’s dog. She got into the car
with no problem and then settled down at the villa under the table, this
morning after her first walk of the day she is now playing with her girlfriend
‘Chispa’ around my feet!
Today it’s
warm and sunny with a little breeze they came along early yesterday evening as
we reached Claus & Doreen’s villa; they had planned to eat outside on the
lower terrace by the indoor pool but had to move up to the top floor
lounge/dining room at the last minute.
Claus had
prepared a rather special and very traditional ‘German’ meal for dinner; it
started with a very tasty ‘Beef Consommé’
with Egg White Dumplings made from the cooking broth that the large ‘Beef
Brisket’ was cooked in and is known as the “ Wedding Soup”!
To follow
it was the Beef cooked to a shredding texture served with plain Boiled Potatoes
that you chop up, the rich creamy thick salsa is made with Horseradish which
you then spread over your meal and is known as the “ Xmas Meal ” traditionally
served on Christmas Day! For our dessert Claus had made a very rich ‘Iced Chocolate
Mousse’ served with Chantilly Cream.
We all
enjoyed one another’s company and found lots of things to talk about that we
had in common; Bruno is going home next week back to work and then is coming
back over in a few weeks time for another week; meanwhile Bruno & Kathrin’s
son ‘Nick’ is coming here for a couple of weeks with his girlfriend so we are
going to meet up with them.
We have
arranged next Tuesday morning to meet up with Claus & Doreen to go across
to Estepona in the morning for a little window shopping and so Claus and I can
have haircuts at the barbers shop! A little ‘Fish’ lunch will no doubt follow!
The folks are going back to Germany next Friday as they have work and
family commitments and will back in October sometime. Many thanks to them for a
wonderful dinner and being excellent hosts.
So back to
normal for know in sunny Manilva; we are having our usual ‘Entrecote Steak’
cooked med-rare with twice-cooked Chips, sautéed Mushrooms, finely sliced Green
Beans, Brenda’s with fried Garlic buds and of course mine topped with a ‘Campo
fried Egg’!
We will
then catch up with all the news, sport and weather updates before finding a
film to watch; later I will watch some football live from the USA( sorry Josie!
I’ve tried to resist for too long) as Manchester Utd play Real Madrid in a
pre-season ‘friendly’ at the “ Michigan Stadium” in Detroit in front of 109,000
supporters!
Thoughts
for the Day; See above.
