SATURDAY 18th/JANUARY
2014.
Well this
morning we overslept as it was grey and overcast, raining and nobody about down
in our street! It’s now fine and sunny and Brenda has just come back from
walking the dog; after a quick cup of tea and toast I shot up to the office to
tune into BBCTV1 to watch ‘Saturday Morning Kitchen’ – just as the Skype video
went – it was Jack and Lyn from a very hot and sticky Melbourne, they are
breaking all the records over there as its not go below 40degs in weeks! They
are both very well and we had a lovely chat and catch up with all their family
news.
It reminds
us that Tim & Thea are due to go to Australia shortly with their friends,
also over Xmas two old friends from Llanddulas Jenny, who used to work for us,
and Rod her husband have been over there for Christmas with some of their
family and had a very exciting experience when they went flying up in
Townsville in Queensland over the ‘Great Barrier Reef’ in “ Grumman Sea Cat”
called the ‘Red Baron’ – it’s the only two passenger, open cockpit ‘Bi – Plane’
( String Bag) on floats in the world! See the picture above!!
Mano called
in last night after finishing work as Anna had gone back to the UK earlier with
her cousin Debbie, Tom the golfers mum, Tom also came calling later looking for
a lift from Mano, this lunchtime Mano came along as he was out walking his dog,
he’s off today – so it looks like we will be seeing more of him while Anna is
away on her’ Jolly!’ I wonder why?!
This
afternoon there is full fixture list of football; over in the ‘Premier League’
Liverpool host Aston Villa and Manchester City welcome Cardiff, tomorrow
Everton travel to West Brom; over here in ‘La Liga’ Real Betis, the second team
of Seville welcome Real Madrid and on Sunday Barcelona travel to Levante.
A good win for City 4-2 but not a good draw for Liverpool 2-2 - Real Madrid won 0-5 !!

This
evening for supper we are having ‘Steak au Poivre’ as I have two lovely steaks
from our butcher, I make the sauce in the pan after sealing off the steaks in
foaming Butter, then put them aside to rest and sweat off the diced Onions
before adding the secret ingredients and then the crushed Black Peppercorns, next
I deglaze the pan with a slug of Brenda’s Red Wine before tossing in a large
measure of Brandy – flamed by Brenda! The steaks go back in the sauce and I
finally add some cream to taste. Finely sliced Green Beans and twice-cooked
Chips finish a ‘Helluva’steak night down here in sunny Manilva!
Last night
we watched a good Medieval romp “ King Arthur ” from 2004 with Clive Owen in
the title role and Lancelot played by Ioan Gruffud and Keira Knightly as
Guinevere !
Thoughts
for the Day from at the moment a dry sunny Manilva;
