THURSDAY 9th/
JANUARY 2014.
It’s
another lovely day in sunny Manilva with the temperature at 21degs with just a
little crisp breeze; the forecast for the weekend is OK but a bit of the wet
stuff could be around at some time! After our tea, toast and fresh fruit we had
a nice leisurely freshen up and sorted ourselves out for the weekend, we are
down in the morning shopping, as usual, and we have also planned our menus into
next week.
We have
just been for a nice walk around the village as you can see in the pictures
above; they are shooting on with the new small ‘Plaza’ – this morning the stone
cladding is going up the wall, the church looks nearly ready with most of the
pews back in and the arches are taking shape in the new passage way.
When we
were down in Sabinillas we noticed that work has recommenced on the sports new
sports complex; it’s been on and off for a couple of year now duo to the
government cut-backs but they are now working on the outside Paddle Tennis
courts etc. - as you can see in the pictures above, the main sports hall still
has a lot of work to finish it but the rest is taking shape including the
underground car park which Sabinillas needs desperately! Watch this space.
We have
just had a nice long E-mail from our dear friend Joyce over in Mostyn, North Wales who we have not heard from for a
while; she has a house over here behind Malaga and we usually see her once a year,
at least! So we now know what she has been up too and wish her all the very
best for 2014 – its time for her to have some luck and at the same time a
‘Healthy and Wealthy New Year’!! We are looking forward to seeing you
soon!! PS; all the best to John also
who is now following the Blog – we will be in touch shortly!
This
evening for supper we are having English Pork Sausages local, Smoked Bacon,
Breaded Chicken pieces from our butcher, Campo Fried Egg and anything else I
can find to griddle, Mushrooms and Tomato have just come onto the menu - so
it’s a Light Mixed Grill/Brunch! Brenda has Diamond-cut Green Beans and Crushed
Carrot & Parsnips – I’ am also going to sauté some Baby New Potatoes!
Last night
after our Risotto, which was rather nice we watched some mid-week football on
‘Antenna 3’ – it was Barcelona v Getafe in the ‘Copa del Rey’ Barcelona won 4-0
with Messi scoring 2 after his return from injury! The match of the day was
over in England in the ‘Capital One-Cup Semi-Final
– First Leg’ as Manchester City beat West Ham 6-0 with Negredo
scoring a hat-trick!
Tonight
after our supper we will watch the news and weather on TVE1 then its time for
the return of the Spanish soap that we follow “ Cuentame Como Paso’ – ‘Remember
When ( Tell Me)’ about a middle-class family during the last years of the rule
of ‘Franco’ and the Spanish transition to democracy! It stars Imanol Arias and
Ana Duato as the Father and Mother of the family.
Thought for
the Day; See above.
