SUNNY MANILVA AT THE START OF THE WEEKEND

FRIDAY 7th/ JUNE 2013.

This morning we have been down to Sabinillas for our shopping; we called into the bank, the ‘Bank Street’ re-development is nearly finished as you can see in the picture above, we then did our regular shopping at ‘Mercadona’- then picked up the papers and shot back up the hill through the Vine fields which are in coming up to full growth very quickly. The other picture shows the view down the valley to the coast this morning.

We walked down to the local market by the sports complex and picked up some flowers and plants for our outside display; Brenda is now in full cleaning mode, at the moment all the curtains in the house are down! We have just spoken to Jo, Tim’s daughter, as it is her birthday today – doesn’t time fly – we can remember very well her 1st birthday all those years ago! “Happy Birthday” Jo – we know that you will have a ‘Helluva’ day!

This afternoon I will retire to the office to watch the ‘Criterium du Dauphine’ which today goes from ‘La Lechere-les-Bains’ to ‘Grenoble’ – the capital of the province ‘Dauphine’ – it’s over 141kms; at the moment the tennis has started in Paris with the Djokovic v Nadel game and later it is Ferrer v Tsonga in the second semi-final. Nadel has just won the first set 4-6 ! Nadel now leads by 2 sets to 1 after winning the third set 1-6.Djokovic wins 4th set on a tie-break 7-6 -- so we are into a five setter! And yes Nadel is into his 8th French Open Final  where he will meet David Ferrer in an all Spanish final after beating Djokovic 7-9! One " Helluva " epic match !!

PS; No change in the overall standing in today's stage into Grenoble, so Froome is still in the Yellow jersey as you see in the picture above.

We have also started reading our next two ‘Patterson’s’ later in the afternoon; I have just been looking for another fish and Chip shop for our Sunday meal, when the folks are here, before going down to the beach for the ‘ Noche San Juan’ – the Fire Festival ! I remembered that there is a very good one on the far side of Estepona called “ Peggotty’s ” so I got on the WWW and checked it out – good news and bad news – very good reports on ‘Trip-advisor’ – bad news is that it is also closed on Sunday’s! So it’s back to Plan ‘C’ – I will collect a takeout from ‘Marlow’s’ which they do serve and we will have a party in the folks Apartment at Manilva Green – don’t tell them! Good old fish and chips in paper !!

This evening it is film night after supper ( I will find something later ) We found a martial arts - all action film to watch called " Kiss of the Dragon" from 2001 starring Jet Li ? and Bridget Fonda with Tcheky Karyo as the baddie - all the fight scenes were filmed in actual time ,not using any wires!

Thought for the Day; See above.
