THURSDAY 25th/
FRIDAY 26th/ APRIL 2013.
As you can
see on Thursday morning after breakfast we went for a long walk around the
village, my first since Monday; hopefully I’ am ‘Back’ to normal after the
tablets and the intense nursing from the ‘In- House’ nursing sister!! In the
early afternoon Tim called on the Skype video to see how I was, thanks Tim ! I
still could have done with his ‘ Masseuse’ help on his plinth, Brenda says that
she wouldn’t mind also having a quick rub-down!
For supper
we had English Pork sausages with grilled Smoked Bacon,Tomato,fried Campo Eggs
and crisp chips before we settled down to watch the 1ST Leg of the
UEFA Europa League semi-final between Basle and Chelsea on’Telecinco’ – Basle
1-2 Chelsea after Chelsea scored in the 94th minute!
This
morning we went down to Sabinillas for the shopping, called into the bank,
picked up the papers and exchanged some books in the English bookshop and then
went into the Chinese supermarket for a new(Cheap) clock for the office wall;
we then went for our walk with the dog down to the local market by the Congress
centre to pick up some flowers and a plant for our next door neighbour for a
thank you for all the fruit and vegetables she passes in from her Campo, for
instance yesterday fresh large Broad Beans and this morning very fresh baby new
Garden Peas! Over the weekend I’ am going to make a small Pea Frittata for lunch !! Watch this space.
While we
were out we discovered that the council have started yet another project behind
the Congress centre, it looks like it is going to be a small park; as we walked
back up through the center of the village we could smell the Tarmac being laid
in the area of Wall street; see the picture above, they have also started to
clear the small square above Wall street and are going to finish it off at the
same time!
Yesterday
afternoon the Mayor and the council as part of the cultural week celebrations
unveiled a new plaque in Calle Aurora in
Sabinillas; the plaque was originally erected in 1981 and portrays the text of
a poem by the eminent poet Rafael Alberti – see the picture above from Gary at
the The Resident newspaper;
Tonight for
supper we are having deep-fried Hake fillets in Beer Batter with Mushy Peas(
Tinned!) and square cut chips with lots of Lemon juice! Yummy ! The'Cruz Campo' batter is so light and tasty - an old 'Gary Rhodes' recipe! We will then find a
film to watch after channel hopping.
Thoughts
for the Day;
Imagination
is more important than knowledge. Knowledge speaks but wisdom listens. Things do not change, we change.
