MANILVA - LONDON START OF THE WEEK.

MONDAY/TUESDAY 6th/7th/ AUGUST 2012.

Well Sunny Manilva is certainly living up to its name ; the forecast is more of the same over the next few days and into next week, it is the ‘ Feria ’ down on the large car park/market ground in the valley below the village from Thursday to Sunday with the fairground, food stalls,dancing,singing and of course drinking going on each evening till the wee small hours ! The dog is coming in twice a day but we have to keep her calm and cool, just like us, as the heat is getting to her as well ! Monday was one “ Helluva “ day at the Olympics as you can see below, at the same time we are picking up Silver and Bronze medals all over the place; special mention goes to Beth Tweddle ( From Liverpool ) on the uneven bars at the Gymnastics, for so long the smiling face of British Gymnastics – the only hole in her glittering career, which contains three World and six European titles was an Olympic medal –she bows out with a very proud Bronze at the age of 27- a geriatric in joint-busting gymnastics world ! No other gymnast as old as her has stood on the podium for nearly 50 years. No British women had ever done so in an individual event ! On Monday afternoon I was channel hopping when I found on the ‘Paramount Film’ channel, just about to start – “ The English Patient ” I’ am going to do a separate blog about it soon – only to say we could not stop watching it ! For supper we had flattened Chicken Breast in Breadcrumbs (Schnitzel ) pan fried in foaming Lemon Butter with ‘ Spaghetti Milanaise ’ – made with my own Tomato Salsa,strips of York Ham,sliced Mushrooms and herbs ! A classic dish !!

Today,Tuesday its more of the same with three gold medals up for grabs at the Velodrome- we are the favourites in all of them,the ‘ Brownlees ’ brothers are going for Gold in the Triathlon,they have been told that they cannot cross the line together And we even have a pair of British girls in the final of the Synchronised Swimming !! Watch this space later for all the details and pictures. Supper tonight is Steak a la Plancha with chips- when I get the chance !!

OLYMPIC NEWS UPDATE ;


Alistair Brownlee won the Gold medal and his brother Jonny the Bronze ! In the Triathlon taking place in Hyde Park.

NB; Just as a footnote in 35 place was the Australian Brendan Sexton ! No relation but you never know what the ' Ancestor's 'got up to back in the time around 1788/1860 when the ' Penal Transportation ' was taking place !!!
