MANILVA TONIGHT.

SATURDAY/SUNDAY 5th/6th MAY 2012.

THE BIGGEST AND BRIGHTEST FULL MOON FOR OVER 100 YEARS!

At 1-35 am this evening the Moon will be opposite the sun in the sky which creates a full Moon; one minute later the Moon will also be at its closest possible point to the Earth, at which time its distance from the centre of the Earth will be just 221.802 miles( 356,954 km ) This is the closest full Moon to the Earth since January 1912 so it will appear15% larger and 30% brighter in the sky than at any time since then. The next time that the Moon will be this close will be on December 6th 2052 – not in our lifetime ! Happy Star Gazing !! The picture below is the best that I could do with the Casio EX-ZS10 – more zoom would be better!

PS; The picture above has just come in on a news agency page !!
