SATURDAY/SUNDAY 5th/6th MAY 2012.
First thing on Saturday morning after breakfast I shot down to the football stadium to watch a junior game, our friends Peter and Barbara’s son Jake was playing and they could not make it, Barbara was taking her two daughters Megan and Leah to a Gymnastics Competition, they came 1st and 4th and Peter was away on a stag weekend, so I thought that I would shout Jake on! Only one problem the game was postponed at short notice because of the threat of rain! I ended up in the sports hall watching the start of the Climbing Competition as you can see in the pictures below. Brenda came down with the two dogs later and we got back to the house just before the rain came. In the afternoon we watched the film “ Elizabeth ”from 1998 starring Cate Blanchett in the main role as the FA Cup Final was a late kickoff; only to say that in the first half Liverpool played terrible but when they brought Andy Carroll on in the second half on he scored and had one disallowed and they played a lot better but sadly lost 2-1 to Chelsea. Over here in Spain Real Madrid won in the next to last match and Messi scored four in Barcelona’s win over local rivals Espanyol.
In the evening we had Steak and Chips with all the trimmings and then settled down to watch “ The Bodyguard ” from 1992 with Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston ( what a shame – she had a “ Helluva ” voice )
On Sunday morning after a little lie in we got the roast on the go – Chicken; the weather forecast from today and all through next week is sun and more sun and getting hotter. The early match over in England was the Newcastle v Manchester City game, City played out of this world and when Mancini brought on the subs in the second half Yaya Toure was able to go forward and scored two brilliant goals – job done ! Utd.won 2-0 against Swansea so it is all to play for next Sunday – City at home to QPR and Utd,away at Sunderland – come on the ‘ Blues ’its yours to win, the first time in 44 years !!
In the evening Mano joined us for dinner, Anna is due home from Tenerife late on Monday night and hopefully Sally Ann and Dylan later in the week. The late film was a cracking crime thriller about two New York cops played by Robert De Niro and Al Pacino called “ Righteous Man ”from 2008 – it’s got a twist at the end – watch it ! The late/late film was the classic last film of Stanley Kubrick in 1999 – “ Eyes Wide Shut ” with the husband and wife team,then,of Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, strange and slow but watch able.
Thought for the Day;
The secret of happiness is not doing what one likes to do, but liking what one has to do.
